“Takes It To The Third Level”

March 14th, 2017

Top shelf.

Louis Riddick seems to be licking his chops just at the thought.

When analyzing the Bucs’ signing of Flash Jackson, Riddick, the former Eagles and Redskins personnel director and ex-NFL safety, struggled to stay composed on ESPN. In so many words, he said the Bucs’ passing game could be lethal.

Why? Because just the threat of DJax taking the top off defenses will give opposing defensive coordinators insomnia.

“If you want to take Mike Evans out of the game and let DeSean Jackson one-on-one on third downs or on any kind of crucial situation, good luck,” Riddick said. DJax “has speed for days. When he has shown that, basically, when he is on and when he is healthy, he is uncoverable on one-on-ones and that makes Jameis all the more dangerous.”

Riddick also noted of DJax, He “takes it to the third level,” and he said the Bucs are just one piece from a world-class offense: a running back.

Joe believes Riddick is on the money. Notice in the video below Riddick did not mention the Bucs needing to draft a tight end as he had high praise for last year’s NFL leader in touchdowns for a tight end, Cameron Brate.

I think bucs go defense 1st pick

  2. Destinjohnny Says:

When you have one great db and one average or not good
When you have one great wideout and a average 2
When you have a great dt and no de
    They almost go to waste
Now when you get those things…..
    It hits the fan

  3. Destinjohnny Says:

    11 and 13??? Game on
Kinda sucks we won that last game
We would have a shot at fournette
    240 4.5 drop to 230 4.45
    Pick your poison
    You couldn’t defend us

  4. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Man the whole league buzzin over Jackpot coming Tampa.

  5. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Johnny why do y’all carry this notion of sitting at 19 eliminates a particular player from being attainable by any given GM that want him??? I’m curious. If a GM gose into a draft deeply desiring a player he’ll get said player one way or the other bro.

  6. Tom Edrington Says:

I couldn’t help but notice the “on and healthy” disclaimer, so before everyone goes all bonkers, it will all depend on Mr. Speed being “on and healthy” for the majority of the games.

  7. DallasBuc Says:

The timing here is fantastic because Winston is entering his third year and we should really see his game improve dramatically just at the time he gets a vet weapon like DJax. Shore up the rushing attack threat and you gotta like your chances to compete against anyone.

  8. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Oh miss that part about being one piece away: a running back. Ya I hold my position here on this site it ain’t changing. I ain’t smarter or dumber than anyone on here. But what I continue to find interesting is them folks on the tv screen seem to agree wit the Kid..

  9. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Everybody On Notice. They are all waiting to see one young man’s name come from Roger Goodell’s mouth at 19.. Just wait on it.

  10. SOEbuc Says:

@Strider I would love to pick up Barnett or C. Harris or a CB. Everyone keeps talking about drafting a RB in the first and I really don’t think that’s what they’re gonna do.

  11. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Survey says correct for 3000 Dallas..

  12. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

If some of y’all could get that hate out ya hearts you’ll begin to realize how truly special this team is about to be.

  13. K1ngfish1 Says:

Plenty of good RBs in the middle rounds plus we still don’t know what their plans are for Drug Martin. I want them go just take the best player available on their board a d not handcuff themselves to a certain position.

  14. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Yup, we’re 1 bruiser away from having the perfect Rb comittee.

But we still need a center and a right tackle to complete our Offense.

  15. JAB83 Says:

No one better in the draft the last few years than the Bucs…

I dont care who they draft I will bet right now we get another 3 plus impact players this year…

Anyone want to bet against me???

  16. Lord Cornelius Says:

I can live with a lot of RB draft options

    R1-Cook
    R2-Kamara
    R3-Perine
    R4-Mack

Really like Perine man. Dude runs like a freaking psychopath and would bring a nastiness to our run game we haven’t had in years. Hell Blount was kind of a finesse runner here for his size. This guy will truck people and still has great movement skills

  17. Destinjohnny Says:

Nole we have way 2 many holes to trade up for lsu.
    I know u like cook
But lsu can do it all
Imagine the 4qt 110 degrees on the field
    Stopping that guy 240
    Alstott meets bo Jackson
    Bang bang chicken!
    You couldn’t defend our O
Our d will be top 10
    10-6 all day

  18. Destinjohnny Says:

Jab was clearly a good move to trade up and pass on future all pro dt’s
    For a kicker
Also Vernon with the depth of those years draft would be a 2.

  19. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Johnny did the falcons need a bruiser this last season in the 4th qtr??? No. They were already up by two scores most of the time so needing someone to wear a defense down was obsolete. Y’all have these visions of yesteryear in your minds. Get a bruiser like Alstott make the D like it was in the 90s. Kill that noise man we a star QB Buc ball won’t be necessary bro.

  20. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Come out the 90s man its the 2000’s..

  21. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

For my money I would wager Riddick wasn’t thinking “a bruiser” when he said they are a running back away from being a special offense.

  22. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Yeah they were up by 2 scores because Taylor Gabriel and JJ were running wild on us. And we didny have the speed to shut them down.

You keep usig the falcons as an example, guess what, they got their backs in the 3rd and 4th round. Just like we should.

  23. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

You on safety now, hmm. Figures you drop prospects from your mind quicker than the temperatures in a artic region.

  24. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Who said anything about us. Yo stalker @$$.

  25. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

I wish you were a female and fine.

  26. Blake_bucsfan Says:

I figured you were talking bout the thursday night game against us.
And bro, ive explained to you bout a hundred times now, i got a list of players i like, and a list of players i dont.

Bucs have many more needs than just Rb. Safety and Corner being 2 of them.

  27. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

But you can stay nut$@c all the way up til draft night. At which time ima ask you to jump off okay.

  28. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Lol just trying to enlighten your simple mind bro.

  29. Guzzie Says:

I’d love the Bucs to trade with Cleveland, Cleveland gets 19, gives them 3 of the top 19 players, Bucs get the browns early 2nd plus a 3rd and a 4th, this draft I’d deep in all the right places, RB WR TE S DE, getting 2 extra picks for moving down 14-15 spots would give us 5 very talented players, then still have our 5-7 for depth

  30. Destinjohnny Says:

U run a 4.45 five at any size u have my attention.
You do it at 235??? He can run over u and run past you

  31. rrsrq Says:

Did he say it could be Martin and JL is saying we are good at RB, maybe there is something we do not know, like last year how many RB’s did we pick up off the street including rookie free agents

  32. Pickgrin Says:

Anyone who thinks either Fournette or Cook will be available at 19 needs to have their head examined….

  33. mike10 Says:

They need a CENTER.. biggest need we have!

  34. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Hmm did you hear that part about “balance” I recall a certain jbf posters saying the exact same thing the other day. And Pick you say that but won’t bet nothing..

  35. Miko Says:

this should read…IF he’s healthy, IF he’s committed, IF he’s not a distraction…”If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we’d all have a merry christmas” …

  36. Mike Johnson Says:

Enough talk. Lets put it on the field. Remember, Jackson does get injured from time to time. Keep him healthy and we just might be on our way to…..?

  37. Bucsfanman Says:

Nole, I tend to agree with Pick. Think about it. If he’s half as good as people say, there are too many teams ahead of us that need a game-changer for him to be hanging there at #19. No, I won’t bet on it, but, how can a guy like that slide if he’s everything you say?
I’d love to see him in pewter, but I have doubts that he’ll be there when we pick.
To the article, adding DJax changes the dynamic of this offense. It effects everyone, ME13 included. The passing levels are going to be exploited as long as we keep Jameis upright.

  38. DPewter Says:

Move Marpet to Center, draft a guard in the second (even though Smith would make a better guard than tackle), and draft the best available player at 19.

Really wouldn’t mind O.J Howard being our R1 pick. A TE that is 6’6″, runs a 4.51 forty, and can block. In case you guys don’t know Mike Evans is 6’5″ and ran a 4.53 and was twenty pounds lighter than Howard.

  39. DallasBuc Says:

I want a back that can be effective on the goal line. Sick of getting down there and having no legit threat to punch it in. This must change.

  40. Joeypoppems Says:

Honestly, I think there is a very strong chance that Dalvin Cook will be available at #19. Whether they will pick him or not Idk.

  41. BadHombre Says:

Bucs are one McCaffrey away from being a nightmare to defend.

  42. DPewter Says:

McCaffrey is really good and better than Cook to me but he doesn’t solve our lack of power at the position. He maybe a great pick if we pickup Murray or heaven forbid AP All Day.

  43. SB Says:

DL or OL in the first round. S in the second. And Perine. In the third

  44. Jonzey Says:

McCartney is not better then Cook, just because he did better in the combine that don’t mean nothing. Cook wants to be a Buc and JW wants him because he know his skills.

  45. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Jonzey they clearly smoke good reifer if theyc actually believe that. Which they don’t cause only reason half of them singing his praise is because I’ve been repin Dalvin all the while. We’ll see who Licht and Koetter feels better next month. And Dallas when you field a group that includes ME Jackpot Fameis and Dalvin trust me bro needing someone to pound it inn from the five yard line won’t be necessary ask that often. Most scores will prolly occurr outside the red zone.

  46. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

I could can still push 225 at least four or five times at my age.

  47. Blake_bucsfan Says:

^ 2 seminole homers circle jerking

  48. Tom T. Says:

“when he is on and when he is healthy” – 2 Big Ifs….

  49. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Way to go Licht just another FSU long snapper. Cheers.

  50. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

A yo Pop what was that yardage after contact for McCaffery .002. Brush him wit a bird fester and he go down.

  51. Blake_bucsfan Says:

bro i already gave you as much info on Cmac’s yac numbers as could be found for 2016.

He had 170 in one game against Cal. And he forced 43 missed tackles as a runner, and 21 more as a Receiver.

Like I said, Im off the Rb in the first, but Christian McCaffrey will be a better pro player than Dalvin Cook.

  52. Blake_bucsfan Says:

But according to PFF, McCaffrey had 2.5 yac per touch in 2015.

He had 382 touches in 2015, not including however many returns he fielded. So that means he had at least 955 yards after contact in 2015.

But keep peddling those alternative facts bro. I’m sure I’ll have to set you straight again tomorrow.

  53. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Also, inb4 “yeah but that was in the pac 12 hurrr durrrr.”

  54. Vinsane38 Says:

PLEASE do not draft Leonard Fournette – PLEASE GO DEFENSE LINE!

I would add that RB is ridiculously deep in 2017 – good fits behind our line:

    James Conner (Pitt) BIG
    Brian Hill (WY) BIG

If you want to shifty and dual-threat:

    Eli McGuire (ULL)
    Jamaal Williams (BYU)

  55. Duke Says:

    Vinsanity,

Please don’t pick Fournette! Good news for you, I guess, Fournette will be the first RB off the board. Top 10 has/is the consensus among prognosticators …

  56. TarzanTheBucsFan Says:

Blake i think you should stop exposing nos bos. We all know he is in love with dalvin and when he figures out McCaffrey is gonna be the better player he will take back everything that he said. Pretty sure that nos is the most annoying on this site and that you just shut him up

  57. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Don’t blow a gasket bro its not your fault he Angle Soft. And I coulda swore I said “a yo Pop”.

  58. TarzanTheBucsFan Says:

Nos state your opinion idc. Cook could be e really great talent just dont be ignorant about it. Please

  59. Joeypoppems Says:

I don’t think anybody has been shut up since it has been the same argument for over a month now lol

  60. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

Jane get off another man’s d@$! will ya.. Don’t recall mentioning your name.

  61. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

What about that new FSU long snapper tho.. Look like Licht wants some familiar faces for Dalvin when he walks into that lockerroom.

  62. Blake_bucsfan Says:

*demands to see facts on a players stats*

*is provided with the information that refute argument*

*ignores facts and continues spewing nonsense*

I like the way you think NosBos.

  63. Kevin Says:

Tell ya what put John Ross in that mix with Evans and Djax on the filed at the same time that would be scary. Ross has injuries but man the thought of that is intriguing.

Just my two cents but to me Mccaffrey does look better on tape

  64. FuNkYxMuNkEy Says:

Brate is a good young TE. Pair him with Leggett, who we could draft in the 3rd round, and TE is fixed.

We either go RB or D with our 1st pick. Whether it’s a DE, CB, or a safety. McCaffrey or Watt would be my choice unless Mike Williams were to fall to us somehow.

DJax is going to help our team in so many ways. And with regards to Martin. I would cut him but he is technically is in a contract year so he will probably have a good season just like 2 years ago. Not worth the headache imo especially with so many good backs in this draft.

  65. FuNkYxMuNkEy Says:

McCaffrey and Cook will both be good. McCaffrey just offers more options to a team. Coaches love those guys who can play anywhere and return kickoffs and punts. He is a machine and who cares if he isn’t a bruiser. It’s better for the longevity of your career to avoid big hits instead of going out there looking for them. Give me Caff all day.

  66. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Also, for anyone naive enough to think that 4.66 is too slow for a power back that stands at a solid 5’11 233, just know that Jerome Bettis and Franco Harris both ran 4.7 40’s.

  67. Kevinthepainterimagine Says:

Im going to cry if mccafrey goes to new england

  68. JAB83 Says:

bet… A running back wont mean nothing much when u got D AND V Jax with hump and Brate in the field at the same time…

You cant tell me Chuck Sims and Rogers or Martin aint GOOD ENOUGH…

IN FACT THE WOULD BE STELLER!!!

Thanks to DJax taking the D to the 3rd level. F a running back in the draft….

GIVE ME 5 OLINEMEN THIS YEAR IN THE DRAFT AND SET THE BOAT ON A COURSES THAT WILL TAKE #3 AL THE WAY TO THE HALL!!!

  69. JAB83 Says:

My bad… Did I forget our #1 wr on accident???

  70. FuNkYxMuNkEy Says:

If McCaffrey goes to NE the entire league is screwed. Him and Cooks with Lewis and the Superbowl menace, wow is an extreme understatement. That’s not including Gronk, Edelman…it just keeps going lol.

  71. TarzanTheBucsFan Says:

Oh and btw nole you give all this crap to mixon about his incident but cook has far more legal trouble that any back in this class honestly. Drugs, known to hang out with gang members, beat up poor little puppies, and punched a women in the parking lot outside a bar. Not sayin im a mixon supporter but please dont give crap to other backs when you are the one who wants a criminal on this football team. Really?

I would love to hear what smart ass comment you have now.

  72. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Blake, NosBos, I’m gonna say it right now. I’ve been on record as saying the only players I don’t want in the first are Ross and Peppers, but I’ve also been against OL too. I’d rather a skill position, but I’m calling it right now, Licht is bull$hiiting his love for the OLine IMO. WE ARE GOING OL in the 1st round. Not what I would do, but I could make a case that Licht feels we are good at all other positions. I ask you guys this: IF, and I admit, it’s a BIG if, Licht plans on keeping Martin and resigning VJax after already adding DJax, what is the next most important position (not Saftey) that Buc fans have been complaining about? The O Line. I don’t know if it would be a RT to replace Dot, or a Guard to allow Ali to move to center (I know about MIA Sweezy). I’ve been trying to think out of the box on this one, and not go with the popular choices. I think this is the draft when Licht fools us on the 1st round pick. Most mocks I read before the last 3 drafts had us taking ME, JW and VHIII. It’s time for Licht to pull a trump card (sorry Hog), no pun intended! Lol

  73. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Sorry Blake, Nos. I did forget the main position of fancy to argue. Kicker. I didn’t think I needed to add that position, but given Licht recent history, I can’t definitively say they we won’t draft a new Kicker in round 1. Boy would that be the smokescreen of all smokescreens. Personally, if we were going to draft a special teams player in round 1, I’d go Long Snapper. We DO need one! LOL!

  74. TarzanTheBucsFan Says:

Eric we just sogned a ls from the bills

  75. BuccaneEric75 Says:

    Nice

  76. Chacho Jordan Says:

Me personally as enticing as fournette seems I would much rather have John Ross to work as an understudy of Deshawn Jackson… that would force defenses to be dead late game in their secondary… no plays off… or else!

  77. Chacho Jordan Says:

Is there a possibility of cook dropping into the mid second round seing how this RB draft is so deep? He has off the field concerns and fumbles often! They RB position is so crazy with Kamara Fournette Mccafrey and Mixon. Each one of them has a major flaw of sum sort. Kamara has had nearly no touches and little north and south work and doesn’t appear like a multiple down back. Mccafrey came from the same Stanford system that made Toby Gerhart look amazing and had little run after contact numbers. Fournette seems like a liability in passing downs although he will be gone in the top 5. Mixon has more off the field videos pop up on YouTube than highlights. There’s no way all these players are gone by our 2nd round pick. I say pick up either WR OT TE or Safety first round and pick up the left overs later.
