Koetter Didn’t Panic

Want to know one reason the Bucs didn’t mentally meltdown after trailing 14-0 yesterday?

The answer is simple: Dirk Koetter didn’t panic.

That’s the word from Jenna Laine of ESPN, who filed a video report discussing the game. She claims earlier Koetter would have thrown the gameplan to the ground earlier this season — like Bill Belicheat would a Surface or Gerald McCoy would (and did) Sideshow Bob — and started going all Air Coryell.

Instead, Koetter stayed patient and didn’t deviate from his gameplan, Laine explains in the ESPN video below.

Oh, and Jenna also got to touch the “silky” sportcoat worn by America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.

I believe we saw the difference between a team that has a quarterback and a team that does not…..my favorite moment was when VH III blasted the bejeebers out of what’s his name with the ‘Fro……great moment!!!

  2. astrobuc Says:

Tom, that was JAB, although VHIII had a nice TFL on one of there running backs.
I have noticed not a lot of throws going VHIII way, which means he is covering his guy.

  3. Mike Johnson Says:

Lets not start buying Buc superbowl shirts just yet, We are 3-3 which means we are an average 500 team. Nothing else. I dare..I implore this Buc team to prove me wrong and win again next week. If not, they go back to below 500, the nice cozy cellar they are accustomed to. Lets see if we are the ballers many here think we are. And yes, continue to play Rodgers and hit hard on Defense. Great victory on Sunday. NEXT!!

  4. DallasBuc Says:

Koetter should be panicking over this dreadful kicking nightmare that the above reproach GM around here has put Koetter and his football team in.

From PFT: [Of kicker Chandler Catanzaro in particular, the missed 24-yarder in overtime which hit the upright drew a stern response.
“Make it,” Arians said. “You’re a professional; this ain’t high school. Make it.”]

I hope Koetter trots this lousy kicker out there every possible chance he gets because if the GM is going to force this bad decision to remain on the roster then he should own every kick and take the heat for every lost game due to badly missed kicks.

We played a sad 49ers’ team, that kept losing players to injuries all game long, I don’t care who their QB was, but I do hope that we improve on angles when going after the QB, a lot of Kaps runs were because we took bad angles and let him out of the pocket, DE’s going inside and losing containment. I did like to see our offensive physicality and I am continually impressed with VHIII

  6. feelthepewterpower Says:

evolving as a play caller means attacking an opponent’s weakness…not necessarily sticking to the run because the team is good at running…..you have to exploit an opponent’s weakness in this league whether via the run and/or pass.

  7. The Buc Realist Says:

To imply that Head Coach Koetter panicked earlier this year is a bit unfair!!! It is different when the running game is working to great effect as opposed to a game against a better defense that pretty much stuffed the running game!!!

    Go America!!!!

    And Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!

Agree with everyone saying let’s not get ahead of ourselves. A couple of decent victories against crappy teams. A W is a W, but we didn’t beat the Steelers or Pats. NBC mentioned last night that the 9’ers were giving up an average of 37 points per game over their last 5 losses. Guess what the bucs scored? Exactly the average amount.

This is the perfect game to see who the negative nellies are. The quintessential life question. Is the glass half full or half empty. 3-3.

We can see which of you focus on the half empty.

We discovered another WR…we found out that Quizz may be our version of MJD..our own pocket hercules…we see that the chemistry between #3 and ME continues to grow and they are now legitimately dangerous.

We see that our offensive line is beastly…second only to the Cowboys.

We see that our defense is improving every week and that Smitty can make in game adjustments. VHIII is one of the best tackling DB’s in the league right now.

Our punter is excellent…but why look at that when we can dwell on the FG kickers miss from 50.

We could see that DK’s offense got another 500 yard game, the 3rd in 22 games. The franchise had 39 years before him and only got 3 500 yard offensive games. He has done in 22 games what ALL the other Buc coaches needed 39 years to accomplish. Yet there have been people here whining about his calls and ready to run him after five games.

WAKE UP AND SMELL THE FREAKING COFFEE. The Bucs are your team. Embrace the success!

I get honest criticism. But this projection of suckitude into the future is just absurd.

The game against the Raiders is a pick em..both teams -1 in Vegas right now. If you must be obsessed with “honest” and “objective” posts then at least tell the freaking truth. It’s a pick em game between two up and coming teams that should be very interesting.

  11. LargoBuc Says:

DallasBuc how awful has Mike “Clayton” Evans been this year lol. It’s okay you seem to have found a new target in Licht. It’s hilarious how you focus on one bad move and build a narrative around it.

  12. 813bucboi Says:

the “w” feels great I love it, but I cant get ahead of myself….I love the fact that dirk continued to run the ball, although it was against a defense that ranks dead last or near the bottom against the run….the question is, will dirk continue to use this same formula against better teams such as oak and at…..we shall see…GO BUCS!!!

AMEN, bro, fellow Bucs fan!! I still want to know why Banks was deactivated for yesterday’s game? If Smith won’t let him play, then why keep him?

  14. 813bucboi Says:

@dallasbuc…I agree….make licht cringe every time Roberto is out there….

the only time I felt dirk panicked was when I went for it on 4th down in the first quarter and failed….that was a dumb decision….be smart….punt the ball and flip the field….but I cant complain too much…he called a great game and was well balanced….great team win….VHG is becoming a shut down cb right before our eyes….qb’s rarely throw his way….GO BUCS!!!

  15. 813bucboi Says:

    @Orlbucfan….me too…that was strange….he’s outta here….GO BUCS!!!

  16. DallasBuc Says:

Largo- why would I continue calling him Mike Clayton Evans if he is actually catching the football? No one is happier than me about this dramatic change in his play from last year and I always said that I would quit calling him Clayton when he started catching the damn ball. Done and done. What do you want from me? Call it how I see it, period. That goes for Jason Licht too. You people act like all the glaring failures are “nothing to see here” while nominating him for sainthood when a decision he makes actually works out. It’s his job to field quality, talented NFL caliber competitive football players and he is failing in many respects.
Have another JBF Jason Licht Kool Ale

  17. DoofusDan Says:

    Hey feelthepewterpower,
What’s SF run defense ranked. Yeah, that’s right last. I’d call that exploiting an opponent’s weakness. Just sayin

  18. Lord Cornelius Says:

“Have another JBF Jason Licht Kool Ale”

Jason Light is not without fault. But do you think we should fire him? or are you just trying to “keep it real”?

There are no posters that are saying things like “best GM ever yippie!” or “Light is a genius” so any idea that all the people here are blind supporters of him makes absolutely no sense. Do you want him fired? If not then you’re not adding anything new to the discussion you’re just being a jack4ss imo.

Light is pretty much average as a GM right now. 3+ starters or impact players from each of his 3 drafts and 50/50 on FA signings being contributors. That’s about league average and the typical realistic goal of a team. Dominik was much worse statistically.

pretty sure most level headed fans have this perspective

  19. Shadow man Says:

Hey Aaron Rogers is struggling up in Green Bay so their gm should def be fired for drafting him but he was the only mistake yoda has made up there. Def fire the guy for never missing on any personnel move other than this Rogers debacle. Just like licht should be fired as well.

It’s hilarious to see all the negative nannies. Mike Johnson being a fool yet again. Bucnut lmao. You guys know who you are. If I could reach thru my phone or computer and bitch slap you guys then I would. But since I can’t, can you please gently remove your tampons and show a little bit of support. I mean jesus

Even if we lose to Oakland it’s not the end of the world. If anyone says there is not drastic improvement over the last regime is just an ignorant fool. Were already way better. Give this core and another draft class or two a little bit of time.

Scam newton and the kitty’s sucked the big one for 4? Years before turning the corner.

  20. Shadow man Says:

And did anyone see the kicking in last nights game? Yeah. Roberto ain’t the only one missing fgs. And those were old xp attempts.
