“Gronkowski-Type Tendencies”May 12th, 2014
Former Bucs, Jets, Chiefs, Cardinals and Rams tight end Anthony Becht, now heard on the Buccaneers Radio Network, is all fired up after Tampa Bay drafted tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins in the second round.
Becht, speaking on WDAE-AM 620 today, said his film study on Seferian-Jenkins revealed a 6-6 tight end with the “biggest upside” in the draft.
“Super long arms, big paws. He really can do the all-around tight end. Red zone target. He really does have [Rob] Gronkowski-type tendencies,” Becht said. “Now he’s got to get coached up a bit. He’s got to get with a good tight ends coach. I think [Jon] Embree’s gonna a good job with him in Tampa.”
Becht said he’s not concerned with the “swirls” off the field surrounding Seferian-Jenkins, likely referring to a DUI arrest the Bucs rookie called “humbling and embarrassing.” Becht also said Seferian-Jenkins has a “great chance to be a spectacular player.”
Well, it’s safe to say the Bucs are absolutely loaded at tight end.
And, as Joe’s written for momths, it might be time to start studying New England’s offense of years past, before Aaron Hernandez went nuts, to get more insight into Jeff Tedford.
