“Extremely Relaxed”

September 6th, 2013

So how do you feel, Josh Freeman? Are you jacked up? It’s opening day of your fifth season with stud talent around you, and you’re damn talented yourself.

“Extremely relaxed” is how Freeman described his demeanor yesterday.

Media types prodded Freeman a little more about seemingly fishing to find out if Freeman is fired up for opening day, and Freeman wanted no part of that. Freeman repeated that he’s “relaxed” and confident, essentially his typical cool, mellow self. You can watch what that looks like here, via Buccaneers.com.

Much like many Bucs fans screamed and hollered about how Father Dungy wouldn’t scream and holler on the sidelines, there are many fans who don’t like their franchise quarterback to be so relaxed. These fans want a fiery leader, a veteran QB who’s voted captain by his teammates, but that’s not Freeman.

And that’s perfectly OK, as long as the Ws come more often than the Ls.

Watching his press conference from yesterday was literally the most reassuring thing I’ve seen in a month. I watch every one of his PC’s and I’ve never seen a player who wears his confidence on his sleeve more than Freeman…when his confidence is shaken, he’s a damn mess up there…yesterday he looked “extremely relaxed” and very confident. Take it for what it’s worth, but if I’m laying down money I’m betting that he is in his zone on Sunday.

  2. Couch Fan Says:

Exactly, Until the W’s come he will be picked apart. Thats the life of a QB in the NFL. Just win josh!

  3. ShutTheBucUp Says:

    That pic….hahahahaha.

  4. Meh Says:

I care about his INTs, sacks, and completion percentage. I don’t care about his demeanor.

  5. mpmalloy Says:

Lol…Oh Lawdy…maybe if we give that
Loch Ness Monster tree-fitty then he’ll go away?

  6. RBellBuc Says:

All that really matters, is that you’re comfortable in your own skin, right?

  7. Bucs4life Says:

Pretending the majority of the fanbase is unhappy with Freeman – Check

No, there’s not anti-Freeman narrative on Joebucsfan.com. None at all 😉

  8. mpmalloy Says:

    LEAVE JOSH ALOONNE!!
You’re lucky he even suits up for you basterds.

  9. Nick2 Says:

I am a little more than concerned about Freeman. Today on Ron and Ian they talked about Vincent Jackson having to fill in for Freeman at his own football camp. Apparently he was unreachable by phone. That was a day or so before the infamous rambling interview he gave on the radio. Vincent Jackson stepped up and filled in for Free but what gives??? I won’t make any assumptions but these are bad signs from a person who is supposed to be responsible and hard working. I know he works hard but why do we keep hearing grumblings about Free being to much of a party person (Boomer Esiason.) I heard the interview but never did I know that around the same time he was AOL at his own camp for kids.

  10. stevek Says:

    Couch Fan,

    You know it, buddy!

    Just win Josh!

Win and all is good, as that is all that matters at the end of the day….

Losing is not to be tolerated nor accepted any longer.

Turn up the heat, and let’s see who can hang in the kitchen?

  11. Eric Says:

The bust in waiting might miss his wife?

  12. bucfever40 Says:

If people didn’t like Freeman before, after seeing this pic (again) surely would garner a few more thousand haters! I hope Josh tears it up this year, Lord knows it’s been a witch hunt mentality down here and abroad….take note of all those “experts” and be ready to serve up some crow because it’s those who will either say they were backing him all along or disappear all together!
If he sucks it up this year, I’ll be the first to fall on my sword, I just don’t believe I will have to!

  13. lightningbuc Says:

Nick2, you will just be dismissed as a hater. Drink a glass of Kool-Aid, made by the JFro Mob of course, and don’t worry about it.

  14. lightningbuc Says:

How can anyone look at that pic of JFro, and not be anything but confident about the upcoming season? That pic just oozes NFL machismo!

  15. Couch Fan Says:

    LMAO

Oh I can admit the pic is…. well, ok I wont go there. But how can you take away anything from this up and coming season from a pic of last year? Lol, the pic is bad but it has nothing to do with what may happen this coming season.

  16. Stanglassman Says:

Nick- Share your source when you make wacky accusations it helps with credibility. I’m not talking about Boomer’s jealous unsubstantiated party boy article or the morning interview Josh got woke up on his only day off to do a favor for someone.

  17. Rickster07 Says:

Damn joe, why did you have to bring that pic back?! I live in Texans country and that’s all they talk about when I mention my Bucs.

  18. passthebuc Says:

I have always said he is too cavalier about the game. The only QB I can remember with such a laid back persona was Ken Anderson of Cincinnati. However He could instantly read any defense and had pin point accuracy.

  19. Nick2 Says:

I guess you have to ask Ron and Ian the source. They reported this morning on their show that it got very little press that Freeman was AWOL for his own football camp and that at the last minute Vincent Jackson had to rush in to help. According to Ron and Ian his reasons were that his car was having problems as well as his cell phone. It was one day before his infamous interview that rambled for quite some time that I listened to and most everyone is aware of. Don’t blame me blame them but Ron is pretty straightforward radio personality and he was the one talking about it not Ian Beckles.

  20. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Joe likes to stoke the fires….it gets hits & thats what his advertisers want…..Freeman gets it done for him every time…..A few other favorites are Bowers, the Rock Star, &…..Shaun King
King thinks we should have already signed Freeman to an el cheapo contract extention….I know he has personal knowledge that Freeman would have accepted it.

“Shaun King, one of two Buc Quarterbacks that lost a NFC Championship Game when his defense gave up 11 or fewer points.”

  21. Nick2 Says:

Oh and if what I said didn’t give you reason for alarm please look at that picture at the top again 🙂

  22. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Relaxed is how I want my Quarterbacks, Surgeons & Hemmorhoids

  23. lightningbuc Says:

LOL! The ‘ol “my car broke down and my cell phone don’t work” excuse…from a multi-millionaire!

  24. Curmudgeon Says:

I don’t ever need to see this pic again.

  25. ShutTheBucUp Says:

He should wear that get up on Sunday

  26. Eric Says:

Positioning himself for wrangler jeans commercial.

  27. lightningbuc Says:

Just a guess here on my part, but I’m thinking that might be the closest JFro has ever been to a “kitty”. Not that there’s anything wrong with that!

  28. Couch Fan Says:

It’s an awful pic. But I bet it was an awesome experience for him. I see no reason to hate on him for it. Hell being able to play with that baby tiger alone would of been worth it to me… I’m sure most of you would of done the same. If his coaches thought doing that took to much time away from his football responsibilities, they would of done something about it…. The guy is allowed a life outside of the game.

  29. Chef Paul Says:

I don’t care what yall say. Josh looks likes a million bucks. See the way that light shines through his soul glow hair? MAGNIFCENT!!!!

  30. Jacko101 Says:

If Josh being relaxed is what it takes to win games, he’ll sign me up to give him a massage. I feel he is relaxed and I’m hoping its really a good thing.

  31. Nick2 Says:

Just so I am clear I like Josh and I think if he tanks we tank and Glennon will not save us (at least not this year) so pleeeeeeease Josh put an end to all of this negative talk on Sunday and we will all forget it. If you take us to the playoffs you will be the most popular guy in Tampa. Its all about you Josh (#5)

  32. tonytwocents Says:

Love the Pic! Thats some 80s swag people!

If Free can master the Art of Hater-Blocking, use that negativity and spin it into ammunition, then with his talent??

BTW, Freeman might want to consider bringin back his curls. Maybe his strength was in the curl. Michael Jackson, Ice Cube and Easy E were on top of their game when they were dripping soul glo all over the got damn place!

  33. Jacko101 Says:

    Lol @ soul glow

  34. Tampabaybucfan Says:

A Josh sighting with any kind of pu$$y….has to be comforting to the Bucs locker room.

  35. Nick2 Says:

Tampabaybucfan that was priceless. I don’t doubt Josh had fun flying up and doing that photo shoot but did they give him a choice of celebrities? I mean did they not have someone that wasn’t suspected of child molestation that he could model after? Really????

  36. Tampabaybucfan Says:

@ left hand out of frame…..gloved hand!!!

  37. Howard Bass Says:

Free is so chill; looks like he’s about to go all ‘Bad’ on the Jets D Sunday. Bet it’s gonna be a real ‘Thriller’. I wonder if he’ll leave tickets for ‘Billy Jean’ at Will Call?

Sorry Joe, I just couldn’t resist. Thanks for posting this pic. I needed a laugh this afternoon.

  38. RBellBuc Says:

Joe Flacco completed 34-of-62 passes for 362 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

    55% completion rate

There is hope for Josh yet!

  39. tonytwocents Says:

    ^^^

thats why they lost… 62 pass attempts when you have Ray Rice in the backfield. and youre on the road.

we need to do the opposite. Free shouldnt have to throw it more than ~ 25 times. and Martin needs at least 25 rushes. and about a dozen for Leonard/Hillis.

  40. Curmudgeon Says:

^^^ They lost because they gave up 49 points. Defense wins.

  41. csidedave Says:

Oh no I think it moved…………….

  42. SensibleBuc Says:

He should be relaxed. We’re better than the Jets in every facet of the game. We’ll be able to run it with Dougie so he won’t even have to do much.

  43. tonytwocents Says:

    @Curmudgeon

of course. but on the offensive side of the ball, especially after losing their #2 WR, they should have utilized Rice more, instead of trying to go toe-for-toe in a shootout with Manning.

  44. tonytwocents Says:

can’t believe Ray Rice was the games leading rusher with 12 carries for 36 yds.

  45. Pete 422 Says:

That’s good. Most of us perform well when relaxed & confident.

  46. 911bucs Says:

    “He’s bad”

  47. BIlly Bob Says:

after watching that press conference I realized Freeman is gone. He is out of here. He is over compensating. Freeman does not have the confidence in himself to be an NFL QB. He will be always second guessing himself and trying to think his way through a game rather then react

  48. Buc1987 Says:

    TWO VERY DIFFERENT POINT VIEWS…HILARIOUS!

    Watched the presser, Bambi’s back.

    Deer in the headlights.

    No guts, no glory!!

  51. Buc1987 Says:

“I think everyone should be jumping onboard Josh’s bandwagon and should start enjoying all the things he can do,’’ said B Johnson, the quarterback of the Bucs’ Super Bowl XXXVII championship team. “I think Josh has done a great job.”

“It seems to me like they’re always playing from behind a lot,’’ said Johnson, who watches the Bucs regularly in retirement. “As a quarterback, that can be tough, because no matter who you are, you need help. You need your defense to get you turnovers and you need your kick and punt returners to get you a short field now. And then and it really helps if you can just be able to play with a lead.

“After a while, if you’re playing even or from behind, the game will catch up to you. And if you’re not surrounded by a great team, you’re just not going to win that much. But I think Josh is a tremendous quarterback.’’

  52. Chef Paul Says:

    ^^^^
And that’s why Josh is relaxed. Last year was a stressful year having to carry this team. This year he won’t have to carry the team and he knows it. That equals more relaxed

  53. Chef Paul Says:

Did y’all notice Freeman on the sidelines during preseason when he wasn’t playing? Deer in the headlights look. That’s just his look. Just like Eli’s permanently dumb look on his face. He even has that look at the pressers after a win. No big deal. He just looks silly.
