Joe & The Big Dog Dive Deep Into The Bucs

August 21st, 2013

Here’s your weekly Wednesday evening madness, as Joe joined the dean of Tampa Bay sports radio, Steve Duemig of WDAE-AM 620, for the “JoeBucsFan Hour” at 5 p.m.

Joe and The Big Dog went in all kinds of directions, from locker room insight to the Mike Glennon Mob and more. Enjoy.

I disagree. The 3 of you are fawning Freeman apologists. I listened to Dog cut off a caller last year when the guy mentioned that Freeman never looked off a DB. I am so sick of the Philly game whining, That loss was on Freeman’s clock management.

On a related topic, Dog was talking last year how the Rays would miss BJ. Not so much. It will be the same when someone overpays Freeman.

“The 3 of you are fawning Freeman apologists.”

And some claim the Joes are haters of Freeman and trying to run him out of town. Guess Joe is doing his job. Thanks. — Joe

But I do like your Glennon Mob phrase, If you decide to sell tshirts I’m in for a dozen.

  6. Dan A Says:

Most people who seem to dislike Josh Freeman and continue to make statements bashing him for the losses last year forget that 1. he doesn’t play Defense, and 2. for the Bucs to have blown leads signifies that we had those leads due to Freeman leading the Offense in the first place. If the Defense was able to hold a lead then we would of been talking about Schiano (like a piano) being another first year coach in the playoffs. We were 3 games from making the wildcard….. Giants game, Eagles game, Saints (home game) are games that with a half decent Defense we should of won and Freemwn would of already been paid. Also Mike Glennon is the next Gradkowski so Shut It!!

  7. Free's A Boob Says:

Please go watch the Philly tape. Free taking snaps with 10 seconds on the clock…he plays with a brain and no defense to blame for the loss.

  8. bucco23 Says:

I like Freeman. Hopefully we allow him to scramble more this season

  9. Joe Says:

    Thanks 1987!

It’s nutsacks like ‘Free’s a Boob’ who hone in on one player they just dont like, for whatever reason. (like ‘the realist’ with Dom) Theres no getting through to them. Incapable of seeing the big picture.

They spend all their energy showing all the “mistakes” that Freeman makes. But like Joe and Deumig pointed out, WRs werent always running the right routes. Our defense always got the ball first, only to put Freeman in a 3 or 7 point hole before his first snap. And I gotta say Joe, the pass protection was average at best (last year). Run blocking was on point though.

Which is why Free needs to RUN more. We’re all wanting him to be that crisp pocket passer (or maybe his coaches do). But his mobility is almost as impressive as his arm, but its been underutilized since ’10. We havent had an offensive player that was hard to bring down since Alstott.

Free’s rushing (maybe someone pointed this out already, not sure):

    2009: 30 att, 161 yds, 5.4 avg

    2010: 68 att, 364 yds, 5.4 avg

    2011: 55 att, 238 yds, 4.3 avg

    2012: 39 att, 139 yds, 3.6 avg

Its not so much the yardage or avg, but his attempts. They keep dropping. He obviously takes too long at times, and those are the plays that he needs to extend with his feet. Avoid sacks, and extend plays.

(damn..wrote all this sh!t, just to scroll up and see bucco saying in one sentence, what took me 5-6 paragraphs to get out.)

Anyways, I’m done with this subject. And I agree with my man ’87. It was a good listen.

Amazing how Duemig won’t let the 1st caller talk & has to talk over top of him & keeps asking for his point, but won’t let him say what his point is ……. typical of Duemig sometimes. Just let the fella explain himself, geez.

So you deleted my comment? That figures – this site has gone to H – E double hockey sticks….

Actually, Joe’s hate filter automatically deleted your comment. –Joe

Actually held my interest all the way through. That’s saying something.

You Freeman lover’s are in denial. I hope the guy get’s it done this year. One thing I like coming from his presser’s lately. He’s talking about “Working on his footwork”. He seem’s to be pointing at himself and owning his flaw’s this year. I’m sick of him allway’s looking befuttled after an incompletion. Explaining to the WR when HE went wrong. The whole time never pointing the finger at himself. If he think’s he is the greatest QB of all time and that the WR that can’t run routes. He’ll never get it. Own your mistakes and shortcoming’s and you will learn from them. We all know the pass defence was bad and the D-line was bad. But c’mon the QB has the key’s to the car. The Giant’s game the D had 3 first half INT’s and a pick 6. The Eagles game Free did nothing the first half. With any of the top 10 Qb’s in the NFL. This offence would be unstoppable. The defence would be moot. It comes down to this. A QB will never be successful with 27 fumble/Int’s and 27 TD.
