Repeat Problem For Eric Wright

November 12th, 2012

Next Sunday in Carolina could be an ideal time for Eric Wright to serve an allegedly looming four-game suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

Wright was limited in practice last week an Achilles injury, and after a strong start to yesterday’s game was yanked from the field after re-injuring it, Greg Schiano confirmed today at One Buc Palace.

Schiano offered no prognosis or prediction on Wright’s condition. Though Joe thinks it’s clear Wright had a setback.

Joe would say Wright would be missed, but who knows when it comes to the wildly unpredictable Bucs secondary.

I hope Wright starts serving his 4 game suspension starting against Carolina. He will have 4 weeks to get healthy, then will return for the last 3 games. He will be greatly needed in the last 3 weeks if we are still in the playoff hunt.

W need to help our CB’s by not playing Man so much and quit blitzing on F%@king 3rd down. Tired of seeing us hold them on 1st and 2nd then get beat on 3 and long.

But when they play a three man front they never get any pressure and the QB has all day

i think a combination of both is what we need.

    1. stop it with all the stunts along the defensive line
    2. on third down, you can rush 4 (negating the need to blitz) so long as you revert back to item 1.

I don’t think the safety or corner blitzes are very effective. I did see a couple of LB blitzes that were productive.

I’m as frustrated as everyone here, but I don’t know if there really is a solution. We’ve tried blitzing, we’ve tried rushing 3, we’ve tried rushing 4, we’ve tried blitzing corners, we’ve tried blitzing safeties, yet nothing seems to work. I do think the biggest problem lies with the fact that we can’t get consistent pressure on the QB, and the times we do, the secondary does a piss poor job of coverage. Unfortunately, I think the only real solution is to get better players, which is obviously impossible right now. I can’t imagine us not revamping our secondary next year, and hopefully adding another pass rusher.
