Talib Working Through Hamstring Issue

Yes, Joe is alarmed.

Small muscle tweaks aren’t really significant in training camp, but when Joe hears hamstring and Aqib Talib in the same sentence, Joe gets alarmed.

Talib has battled hamstring issues his entire career. Heck, two years ago the Bucs went outside standard procedure and had Talib doing offseason sprints to try and prevent future hamstring injuries.

Per Greg Schiano, Talib walked off the practice Saturday night with a “tweaked ham” and was largely on the sidelines at practice today as a “precautionary” measure.

Joe sincerely hopes Talib’s issue isn’t serious. While Myron Lewis has had a strong camp, Schiano said today that Lewis has “a couple of little bad habits” to correct before he becomes a dependable cornerback.

    Looks like the Bucs lost 3 starters to those darn unnecessary 110X16 sprints. Penn, Price and now, Talib.

    On a positive note, I heard Hussein Bolt is now available. He should be able to nail those sprints.

    Donald Penn was probably asking Derek for a job on his lingerie league football team since he will never be able to pass the Little General’s conditioning test.

    longoria must have snuck in and did the conditioning test too. btw, there are many ways to tweak/injure a hammy.

    I see athletes sprinting down the base paths or sidelines and they suddenly grab their hamstring. In football, its usually because they haven’t had a chance to get in football shape. They have held out or missed camp for some reason or another like TJax last year.

    Anyone who sprints for 110 yards 16 consecutive times in the Florida heat is asking for disaster. We lost 3 starters for nothing. Plain stupidity!

    Asking Brian Price or Donald Penn to accomplish this feat is stupidity. Asking a person like Talib who is prone to early season hamstring issues to do this before the first practice is insanity.

    Next year we will see if the 110×16 is still in effect, that will tell us if the Little General is insane, stubborn or a freaking moron.

    First, the injuries didn’t occur during sprints.

    Second, Price was gone the day Okoye was signed.

    Thirdly…newsflash…no one gets a hammy sitting on a couch all day. Do maybe the Bucs should just forget all the exercise and practice…just so they are all healthy for the season opener, right?

    Come one, Miguel, be smart.

    Also…each player had different standards to meet…standards that were customized for the player. There was no reason Price and Penn could not accomplish the goals.

    I live 3200 miles from Tampa, I rely on what I read, I have read that there were 16 sprints of 110 yards in the Florida heat. No exceptions. Donald Penn was injured training for them. He has not returned to active participation. If he is not able to practice, what makes you think he has passed the conditioning test?

    Brian Price was injured after 4 sprints and dumped for next to nothing. Briscoe failed them and was dumped in a rage for zero compensation. Talib tweaked his hamstring in the sprints. He will not be in the starting line up probably until the bye week, as these things go.

    Please supply the links that state Penn completed the 16×110 yard sprints.

    No professional football player sits on the couch all day, training is usually 12 months a year, with highly paid professional trainers. If a lineman weighing 300+ LBS spends 10 hours a week running 110 yard sprints, he is A) wasting 10 hours a week B) will show up in camp grossly under weight C) will be out of a job.

    these are paid professionals, getting paid well, and they should be able to pass a conditioning test. talib’s around for buying in. penn the same. others, including price, were cancers that had to be cut.

    And no, Penn wasn’t injured in sprints. He was injured beforehand. Idiot.

    Brian Price wasn’t injured either. He passed his physical genius.

    And Talib injured his hammy a few days ago. You are too stupid for words Miguel.
