Barrett Ruud Speaks

August 23rd, 2012

In case you missed it, Barrett Ruud is now the projected starter at middle linebacker for the Saints. (Yes, Joe dreams of LeGarrette Blount meeting Ruud in a hole.) New Orleans traded with Seattle for Ruud after a slew of training camp injuries.

What’s noteworthy in this Times-Picayune Ruud interview below is how Ruud says it took him three years to feel fully comfortable in the Bucs’ Tampa-2 defense. Joe knows some fans scoff at Mason Foster needing time to adjust at MLB. And while three years is too much time, Ruud’s comments might help explain the brutal spot Foster was thrown into last season after the lockout and why a great season is unlikely for Foster in 2012.

I’m happy to see Ruud with a good team. I think he’s a decent guy. It’ll be interesting to see how he plays for NO.

Seems like a nice guy, but maybe not the most eloquent?

Umm, what? No, I’m pretty sure Curtis Lofton is the projected starter. You know, that guy we wanted who just signed a big contract with the Saints?

In fact, the Saints currently list Ruud as third on the depth chart at MLB: http://www.neworleanssaints.com/team/depth-chart.html

LOL, he just made excuses for himself, and his mediocre play.
I hope Blount runs his ass over, when we play them

  5. aj Says:

Fatmosh, he will most likely start because everyone in front of him is injured.

Ruud in the middle, Foster at Sam next to David would be an improvement over what we have today with Jane starting and Foster out of position.

Spaghetti arms is back in action ready to be the sled for NFL running backs. I think Ruud would have made a good water skier. His play for the Bucs was such a drag over the last few years, but he does have a good grip, just no A$$ to pull them down. The guy is perennial loser.

If he was so bad how was he the leading tackler?

    miss ruud and caddy :/
