Bisaccia’s Name Starting To Circulate

November 18th, 2009
It seems Bucs special teams coach/associate head coach Rich Bisaccia is being talked about among NFL heirarchy and executives as a potential head coach in 2010.

Joe has no intimate knowledge of this. However, in a live chat today on, senior NFL writer Jason LaCanfora tossed in Bisaccia’s name as a prime candidate for teams looking to stay away from the available big name head coaches like Bill Cowher, Mike Holmgren and Chucky.

Cowher the next bills head coach?

Jason La Canfora, NFL Network
Would be totally stunned. Don’t see that happening. Don’t see any of the big name guys ending up there. I would be going after a Leslie Frazier or Mike Zimmer or Rich Bisaccia.

Joe highly doubts LaCanfora, who is new to his leaguewide beat and hardly a Bucs insider, would drop Bisaccia’s name like that if he wasn’t hearing it from the unnamed NFL “executives” he’s always sourcing and quoting.

Perhaps Bisaccia is having his agent stir the pot. He did say last week in an interview on 620 WDAE-AM that he wants to be considered for a head coaching job.

Obviously, losing Bisaccia would be a blow to the Bucs, whose kick return and kick coverage teams are tops in the NFL.

We are not letting Rich go. There are a few others we will gladly ship out but not Rich!

  2. Jeff Says:

He looks like he could be John Torterella’s brother.

  3. Jorge Says:

Rich is the best in the biz, we need him…

  4. Tristan Says:

We need to do whatever it takes to keep Rich. Maybe he would be a better head coach than Morris. Maybe let Morris slide back to DC, and let Bisaccia hand-pick a successor to his special teams spot?

  5. BigMacAttack Says:

Yea, instead we have Raheem the Dream. They should of considered Rich before Raheem. It’s just a matter of time and Bisaccia is out of here. I think Rich is from New York so Buffalo is right there and a nice place to live. Conservative, but a little cool in the Winters.

Sucks when you work for a HC that is 1/2 the coach you are

  7. BucForce Says:

It wasn’t that long ago that Bucs fans were calling him Rich Bisuckia, for not finding a guy that could run a kickoff back for a TD and for general ineptitude of his ST’ers. Now he’s head coaching material?

  8. Matthew Says:

The guy is good… I think the bucs got it wrong and should have made this guy the head coach. ST guys don’t take no lip. We jumped the gun on Morris just because he got that interveiw with denver.

Yes, the Glazers have mastered the art of Crisis Management.

OMG, we need a Coach, Hey buddy, yea you over there, wanna be the new Head Coach?

Huh, me? Your talkin bout a guy, who has a guy, and if you got a guy, take a look at him.

Yea, yea whatever, we’ll pay you $100/day/cash to Coach, and we’ll even throw in the Hyundae.

    I’m in.

You are exactly right BucsForce. The special teams was plain awful and dreadful until last year under this guy. I frankly thought he should have been fired a couple of years ago. A team would be foolhardy to hire this guy right now. Let him string together several years of good special team play before he should be considered. I am simply amazed how people forget how awful this guy was for several seasons. Amazed.
