“They’re Hoping Ryan Jensen Comes Back”

December 3rd, 2022

Injured Bucs Pro Bowl center Ryan Jensen.

Joe raised an eyebrow and hit the rewind button upon hearing a guy with a true pipeline into One Buc Palace talking about Ryan Jensen returning this season.

Joe is referring to 2021 Bucs cornerback Richard Sherman, now an NFL analyst for Amazon on their Thursday Night Football broadcasts. Regular listeners of Sherman’s podcast know he is friends with several Buccaneers and is in touch with some regularly.

So Joe was highly intrigued hearing Sherman say of Tampa Bay after the Bucs-Browns loss on Sunday, “They’re hoping Ryan Jensen comes back, who would be an enormous boost for them, but you got to tread water.”

Joe is confident Sherman is hearing Jensen-return chatter from One Buc Palace and isn’t just pulling that out of thin air. Jensen, the Bucs’ Pro Bowl center, blew his knee out in July and was placed injured reserve. He’s yet to practice since the injury, which was not detailed by the Bucs.

But can the Bucs tread water to get to a meaningful Jensen return?

Sherman has his doubts. (Doesn’t every Bucs fan?) He lamented the Bucs’ poor use of timeouts late in Sunday’s game (Thanks, Coach!). Missed throws by Tom Brady against the Browns were also a factor, per Sherman. Yes, if Brady hits Chris Godwin down the seam in the fourth quarter, this would have been a much different week.

Sherman also said things have gotten so ugly in the NFC South that he doesn’t want to watch Monday’s Bucs-Saints game.

Regardless, Joe hopes the Jensen optimism is legitimate. It was be fantastic if he could return in a month and get a tuneup game in before the playoffs.

Jensen hasn’t practiced yet , I just don’t think we can thread water for what 3 or 4 more wks..with 49er’s & Bengals in the meantime ..

  2. AKicknTheBucNuts Says:

    “Before the playoffs”

    “Playoffs”

    LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. D-Rok Says:

Even if/when Jensen returns to practice, how long until he gets in game shape? Hoping on Jensen might be a fool’s errand, although I pray I’m wrong.

  4. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Tread water?

We blew all the easier games that would have given us some cushion.

  5. Rod Munch Says:

What we heard at the beginning was that the Bucs hoped he might be ready for the playoffs.

Of course before the season, no one would have believed how stupid and incompetent these coaches would have been, when all they had to do was run the team as if Arians never left. Instead these two idiots thought they were smarter and had better ideas than Arians, and thus, we see the disaster.

The only reason the Bucs aren’t the Packers right now is because of this awful division, and the Bucs are going to have a tough time even keeping pace here when you got the two most cowardly and low IQ coaches in football tanking the season.

  6. SB~LV Says:

Why isn’t Joes hearing this himself?
Could be just a talking head jabbering and making a obvious statement

  7. Beej Says:

The only thing we seem to know for certain is that he did not have surgery. Therefore, what kind of knee injury could he have that would take about 6 months to heal?

  8. Hodad Says:

Doesn’t make sense to play Jensen this season. Even if we make the playoffs we’re one, and done with, or without him. Get Jensen ready for next season, we’ll need him.

    ———

Stop with the drama queen nonsense. If the Bucs make the playoffs, IF, then they need everyone, because Brady is Brady, and I find it impossible to believe that he won’t just tell the team to f-these stupid coaches and go win the game.

Next season means absolutely nothing. Brady is gone, and the team will literally be one of the worst teams in football. You clean up the cap and Tank with Trask ™ and with these two idiot coaches running things, the Bucs should be in a great position to get the #1 overall pick for 2024, and maybe you can quickly rebuild with a new QB and a new coaching staff.

  10. BucU Says:

This organization is going to pay dearly for allowing Ariens to APPOINT Bowles/Leftwich.
They will lose Monday. They will lose to 49ers next then to the bengals. That’s 5-9.
Bowles at the podium after going to 5-9. “We have to stop pissing away games. We have to coach better”.

You people talking playoffs are smoking Crack with boron and butthole toilet bowl on Nebraska Ave lol

    For what?

  13. HC Grover Says:

I would like to watch but no way to here in the Boondocks. I will listen to the disaster on radio.

  14. SOEbuc Says:

At what point? When we are not in the playoffs anymore if we get there. Sherman doing Bucs fans a solid so they can feel better about how good Wirfs is and how terrible Donny is.

  15. brooks Says:

Playoffs- one and done!! Probably commanders or cowboys will smoke us!!

  16. sasquatch Says:

I don’t see the Jensen thing as being realistic at this point. What stage of rehabbing the injury is he at? Is he squatting and deadlifting? He hasn’t practiced in 4+ months and we haven’t heard anything about his rehab. There’s only 5 games left after Monday. Is it even worth it to push him to be back if they’re not even going to the playoffs? This season is over, why risk re-injuring the knee? Just let him have extended time to get to 100%, and look forward to next year.

  17. Redeemer Says:

I think Jensen’s possible return is tied to how far management thinks they can go. If they do make the playoffs, is one guy, coming off a serious injury going to make that much difference? I don’t think so. IMO, the only reason he didn’t have surgery, is because they thought this team would make a deep playoff run. He may well be healthy enough to play by January 29, the date of the NFC title game. But the bucs won’t be there.

  18. Tim Says:

I just think of that Jim Mora press conference “Playoffs? Playoffs?”

  19. Goatfarmer Says:

    Brian Flores or Eric Bienemy.

  20. TexasBucsFan Says:

Do you really think that Jenson will return to this team, with the present coaching staff & player personnel next year, you are dreaming. My take, after this injury & without Brady, he will retire.

  21. Bojim Says:

    Jenson next season.

  22. ClwJB Says:

He can make it back just in time for the New Year’s Day celebration of the Falclowns winning the NFC Division crown at RayJay

This team is staring directly at a 5-12 record starting with the arse whooping on Monday

They will likely not win another game

Once the Browns Aints 49ers and Bengal losses – the last 3 games are mail in by the vets getting ready for the offseason

Expect nothing more than this –

We are slightly better than Lovie Smiths Texans – outside of that we lose to every team in this league

  23. ClwJB Says:

The peak of the season was barely beating a bad, fraudulent Seahacks team

  24. ClwJB Says:

Richard Williamson and Leeman Bennett think Bowles is a fiery leader

  25. D-Rok Says:

  26. D-Rok Says:

Naw, ClwJB, the height of our season was when we beat the Cowboys, when we were young and restless and full of unbridled optimism for this season. It was the premature denouement to this season, I fear.

Edgar Allen Poe would tee off on this team. Or Sartre.

  27. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Here’s what I think: Within such a bad division, if we can somehow win the division, it’s at least possible Jensen can return to active status for the playoffs…and that would be a complete game changer.

“Even if/when Jensen returns to practice, how long until he gets in game shape?”

It’s a valid question…I’m guessing at least 2 weeks…minumum. So if he is not back in practice by say, week 15 or 16…unless he is part JPP, he won’t make it into the first playoff game.

  29. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Excuse the typos. End of day exhaustion.

  30. D-Rok Says:

Exactly, Bonzai, so if one does the rudimentary maths (thanks, BL!) one can reasonably assume Jensen will not in any meaningful way contribute this season, so let’s all forget about Jensen as a savior. I mean, it’s possible, just not probable. Right?

  31. NEfan Says:

    TOO LATE

  32. steele Says:

Exactly who is hoping Jensen comes back? Is Sherman just giving his own opinion?

We still have zero from OneBuc or Jensen himself. Nothing on his condition. Nothing on his progress. As far as reported facts per Bucs, he is still “too much swelling to diagnose”. The company line is “we’ve moved on”. Hainsey is the next coming. “Our in-house guys are great’.

Even if Jensen were to magically hit the field 100%, it is too late, and the problem with this team is much bigger and more difficult to fix than just that.

  33. Reach87 Says:

Buc U, who should they have hired? You? Hilarious. Go Bucs!

  34. TOMMY MORDUE Says:

IF WE PLAY IT SMART WE WILL (1) RE-SIGN TOM BRADY (2)BRING SEAN PEYTON IN AS HEAD COACH (3)USE OUR 1ST ROUND PICK ON A BLUE CHIP LINEMAN & GO FROM THERE..IF BRUCE ARIANS COULD RETURN AS HEAD COACH, THAT WOULD BE FINE,BUT, OTHERWISE SEAN PEYTON IS WHO WE NEED ALONG WITH TOM BRADY (TOM BRADY WOULD MAKE A GREAT HEAD COACH IF HE WANTED THE JOB AS WELL).KYLE TRASK SHOULD START IF BRADY DOESN’T PLAY QUARTERBACK & INSTEAD BECOMES HEAD COACH ) GABBERT IS A PROVEN LOSER (LOOK UP HIS RECORD AS A STARTER ) KYLE’S BACKUP OR TRADE-BAIT IS WHAT HE SHOULD BE..DO ALL THIS &WE WILL HAVE ONE HELL OF A GREAT TEAM NEXT YEAR ! ! !

  35. TOMMY MORDUE Says:

ALSO,TRADE BLAINE GABBERT &A LATE ROUND PICK TO BROWNS FOR COBY BRISETT..

  36. Old G bucs fan. Says:

You young fans give your two footbalks a tug.Im tired of the whining.Born and raised in Sulpher Springs,Then finalky we get a football team thats run like a business and no wins and a gazillion losses.Still,I was so proud of our team because we had one. Most of ya’ll been here probably no earlier than the dungy/Gruden era,so simmer down.We are in the play offs if we can win a couple games and maybe getting better and peaking. Show some class and support the team, its players and just have fun knowing you dont have to grow up a dolphins fan.

  37. Paul Says:

This team has 9-8 written all over it with a loss in the first round of the playoffs. And to me that’s the best case scenario. It could get ugly and end up 8-9 and possibly miss the playoffs but we’ll see after today’s game. More importantly, after eleven games you are what your record says you are and the record says this is not a good team. And it all started when Jensen went down and Suh didn’t re-sign. You can add Marpet retiring and AB ounce again imploding and what you are left with is a below average team with below average coaching.

  38. TampabayDJ82 Says:

BUNCH OF FAKE , FAIR WEATHER BANDWAGON FAN’S ! AT LEAST WE HAVE A GOOD CHANCE OF MAKING THE PLAYOFFS FOR THE 3RD STRAIGHT SEASON ! YOU FAKE FANS KNOW NOTHING ABOUT A BAD BUCS TEAM. TRY STARTING THE SEASON KNOWING THAT THE BUCS HAVE A BETTER CHANCE OF GETTING A TOP 5 PICK THEN MAKING THE PLAYOFFS. 10 YEARS OF LOSING.. GO ROOT FOR THE AINTS OR PACKERS… GO BUCS

  39. garro Says:

    This is laughable Joes!
Why in the name of all thats NFL worthy would he possibly want anything to do with this years cluster !@#$!

  40. Jonas Says:

What kinda of fans are you people? Guess everyone forgot we won the super bowl going 10-6. Didn’t win the division and won 3 road playoff games. Nobody believed them as we were underdogs in every game. Never count out the goat people. Also the teams with the best records usually don’t win super bowl.

  41. Christina Says:

Some of you people shouldn’t even call yourselves fans, smh I agree with Jonas
