Wagering With Ira

December 19th, 2020

Handicapper.

Follow along as JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman makes three NFL picks each week against the spread.

Point spreads courtesy of Joe’s good friends at BetMGM. You may follow various point spreads courtesy of VegasInsider.com as of Friday noon.

UNCLE IRA

Houston
at Indianapolis -7

Only one of these teams owns playoff hopes and Philip Rivers will do some damage against a lousy Houston defense.

New England
at Miami -2.5

It’s all over for Belichick’s crew in 2020 while Miami faces Cam Newton instead of Patrick Mahomes.

Chicago
at Minnesota -3

Minnesota can’t make a kick or a big stop, so this is where Mike Zimmer’s postseason aspirations come to a halt.

JOE

Detroit
at Tennessee -11

The toothless Lions are toast and they have an awful defense. Derrick Henry pounds them so badly they will cry for their mothers.

Philadelphia
at Arizona -6.5

In the battle of two former Oklahoma quarterbacks, Kyler Murray will come out on top. But Eagles new starter Jalen Hurts won’t embarrass himself. Eagles lost, but cover.

San Francisco -3
at Dallas

Dallas is dreadful. Just on paper, Kyle Shanahan is light years better than Mike McCarthy. Also, remember 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh is a hot coaching candidate. He doesn’t want to Pearl Harbor his chances at a head coaching gig with a poor showing by his defense.

Last week: Ira: 1-2,  Joe: 2-1.

Season record: Ira: 23-19,  Joe: 15-24.

Ira still killing it. Mathematically it’s still a contest, but Joe — c’mon man — time to concede?

    🙂

SwampBuc: Yeah Ira has the season in the bag, like the Bucs are guaranteed to finish 2nd inn the NFC South, it is a given but I think Joe is on to something this week! His picks look solid to me. This is coming from a graduate of the Chris Thomas Handicapping Seminar at TB Downs so many years ago. As Chris said: “Always protect your unit”. I think Joe has a good week. I am with him on:

    San Fran -3
Tennessee -11 (Henry goes ape on the Lions)
Rams -17 Jets flirted with losing the #1 until Gregg Williams outdid the pathetic tank by Lovie for Winston with that zero blitz, that had to deflate the locker room, everyone wants the season to end. Jets may be an underdog do an XFL, UFL or college all star team right now.

  3. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

    Indy -7
LA Rams -17 (man, that is a lot of points!)
    Tennesse -11

I have really sucked at this. But WTH🤪

  4. FortMyersDave Says:

Wow, no wonder Chris Thomas told me to quit picking games: 1 dash 3 is below average.
