“Length And Strength”

Bucco Bruce Arians talks JPP

One of Joe’s great joys coming out of the Buccaneers’ throttling of the Packers was Jason Pierre-Paul looking like he hadn’t in the previous two games: consistently lively and fresh.

Joe assumes JPP was working through his knee injury against the Chargers before having too little time to rest four days later in Chicago.

But on Sunday, JPP looked like himself. It was a beautiful thing, and Bucco Bruce Arians lauded him last night on Bucs Total Access.

“JPP he brings so much energy to the field,” Arians said. “You know, my job is to make sure we get him to the field Sunday healthy.

Arians noted he and JPP have a “good routine” flowing for when JPP practices — and doesn’t practice. And Arians re-emphasized that keeping JPP ready and healthy is his primary directive for the 11th-year linebacker/edge rusher.

“Length and strength” is what JPP is all about, Arians said, combined with being “relentless in the pass rush.”

Frankly, Joe was pissed seeing JPP still on the field late in the fourth quarter Sunday with the game out of reach. That’s needless risk. But JPP did get a sack-strip of Aaron Rodgers with about 6 minutes remaining, and maybe JPP is as hard to take off the field as his former head coaches have said repeatedly.

That sack pushed JPP past Hall of Famer Howie Long on the career sacks list. Next up on the list for JPP to knock off is former Patriots Great is Willie McGinest. He needed 15 years to register his 86 sacks. JPP is at 85. Fun fact, JPP is 11 1/2 sacks behind Warren Sapp on the all-time sacks list.

JPP & Shaq are a great pair…….Shaq not getting sacks….on pace for single digits….well, at least that means his price will come down. Still an effective rusher.

Jpp is more than just a player here!! I remember that loss to Seattle and Hargreaves was talking about girls and it was jpp first game back and he got into them for talking about chicks after just losing!!! That is what changes a culture!! These guys are young and have MILLIONS of dollars in their pockets!! Imagine when you were young having that much money!! At 21 you would think 2 Mill would last you the rest of your life!! I’m sure it’s hard for them to concentrate on just football when there are girls banging down your door and money enough to do whatever you want!! I know when I first started college and thought maybe if I worked hard enough I could make it to the NFL and started imagining what I would do with all that money!! It’s alluring man and can be hard to overcome!! … Jpp helped weed out the players that were playing for a check and helped bring in players that were playing for a championship!!! Jpp was the nickerson of this generations bucs team… He started what they are right now!!! He’s invaluable!!!

At his current rate @Joe, it’s possible JPP passes Sapp this year.
Would be awesome to see a different player for the Bucs lead the league this year.
