COVID-19 Hits The Raiders

October 21st, 2020

“G@# damnit, Mayock, I told those SOBs to wear a mask. Now I’ll have that m@#$%^ fv&^%$ Goodell all over my @ss. How do you expect me to beat Joel Glazer now?”

Joe wishes that headline was dead wrong. It is not.

Per Adam Schefter of BSPN, The Sickness has hit Raiders big-money right tackle Trent Brown, who has been placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

As a result, Chucky decided to send all starting offensive linemen of the Raiders home to play it safe.

Of course, if more Raiders test positive, it could put Sunday night’s scheduled game between the Bucs and the Raiders in peril.

If it gives anyone a sense of security, from no less an authority than the Wall Street Journal, evidence from football teams (both college and pro) that have had coronavirus outbreaks, the source seems to be players eating together, not catching or spreading it from practicing or playing.

i’m not sure i’m equipped to handle no bucs game on sunday…

after the thursday chicago fiasco i was having major bucs withdrawal the following sunday…

the other games just didn’t fill the bill for me…

not sure i can deal this soon with another sunday without buc ball

    Bucs vs. Covid

  4. Taylor Says:

Only good thing to come out of no game is getting healthy

  5. JimmyJack Says:

Adam thats because your in New York. Us Tampa Bay sports fans will do just fine. As is I was not gonna see much of the Bucs game since our Rays will be playing in the World Series at the same time(Im guessing it will be an evening game).

We for sure have been getting our spirts fix down here. Its been a heck of a lot of fun but will admitt Im tired as heck bro. At least with my job late games are rough for me……night after night has been brutal but 100% worth it.

    GO RAYS BABY!!!

  6. Bradley Says:

Chucky sent home all 5 starters on their line today

  7. 813bucboi Says:

    oh boy….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  8. Mitch Says:

Now we wait…. hopefully there are no more positive tests.

  9. ClodHopper Says:

How many athletes in all of sports had major complications with the sickness?

  10. Steven007 Says:

I guess this means that a minimum that if the game is still played on Sunday Trent Brown their starting right tackle won’t be a part of it. Advantage Bucs..

  11. Clean House Says:

This is terrible news, I was watching the raiders from last week and especially noticed the guy to be huge and slow and seemed to stand around for breathers a lot- don’t know how he usually plays, but thought we’d have no problem getting past him- too slow,

But that’s one big dude! I really hope the guy handles covid well.

If it somehow goes bad, and our team gets some rest, I don’t see this as bad at all, as banged up as we have been, especially ME13

  12. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

Ridiculous!!!! Let me guess… He’s not showing symptoms!?!? … This crap is so dumb!!! So many more dangerous things to worry about than this fake crap!! Yes it’s a real sickness but anyone who had done even a small amount of research can tell you it’s not worth everything they have been doing!!!

  13. Locked In Says:

that pic of Gruden – lol! Looks like early AM coming out of a strip club in LV

  14. Clean House Says:

Sorry jack- you’re ridiculous- a giant man over 300 lbs gets an unpredictable virus deadly for many….. you’re really just a buffoon- When you go to one of your WWE rallies, do yourself and all of society a favor and wear a mask- Thanks

  15. DaBux Says:

Damn. But I’ll take a Monday 7 pm ET game. That would rock.

  16. adam from ny Says:

i can deal with a monday or tuesday game too…

i tweaked the noggin to cope 🙂

The Raiders have already had their bye week….I suspect all will be OK…..

  18. QBKilla Says:

My guess is that Chucky and the Raiders don’t think that they’re ready to take on the number one Defense.

  19. james west Says:

i sure hope the game don’t get canceled or postponed till later

  20. Bucsfanman Says:

Ah yes, the fake crap that’s killed 225K+ people, the one which has now surpassed American deaths in all but one foreign war combined in our history.
Anyways, I hope they get better soon.
Regardless, its better to err on the side of caution because you know, science and stuff!
The sooner we get past this the better we will all be.
    Go Bucs!

  21. chris L Says:

wtf is wrong with these people. follow the protocols and social distance. i thought they werent allowed to go to restaurants? we dont know the details buit smarten up raiders. they werent wearing masks at an event and now this. the NFL cannot allow this stupidity

  22. Buc50 Says:

Two more weeks. 225k dead folks. If the league or players thought it was fake, they would still be on the field. Be quiet, eat you ho hos and let the adults handle COVID.

  23. Rod Munch Says:

So how many of these players in the NFL and college have died from this?
    Zero.

    How many have been hospitalized?
I believe the answer is again, zero.

If you’re under 70 and in decent health, your survival rate is literally more than 99.9%. That’s a real number, your survival rate if you get this is literally more than 99.9% unless you’re very old or in bad health when it dips down to around 98% survival rate.

So yeah, be scared, hide in your basement, don’t ever come out until the vaccine is done. But what, orange man says vaccine good, so now you’re scared of that too…

    Anywho, I’m scared, hold me…

  24. UKBuccaneer Says:

Yes the survival rate if you’re young and in good health is high. Unfortunately for those frail, elderly or suffering from health complications this is a very real illness which kills.
So go ahead, be selfish, ignore the advice given to you by actual medical experts, infect your pals and family members, infect the people at the mall and restaurant. As long as you’re in good health, right?

  25. JimmyJack Says:

Yes UK you are very right. But when I go to a grocery store at peak hours and see an old lady getting wheelchaired onto a bus I gotta wonder why its my responsibility to keep her safe when she apparently does not care to properly protect herself. Or just yesterday I seen this old dude walking around a convience store who was in such poor health his legs were blue in color……….Point being that your selfish comment is not well thought out.

  26. lowercaseg Says:

H1N1 had almost 13k deaths and we had no lockdown or quarantine. It’s all political.

  27. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

lowercaseg, can you do simple math? Do you recognize a difference between well over 200,000 deaths and 13,000 deaths? Let me help you, 200-13=187

  28. Adrnagy Says:

Stay the course. And don’t drink toilet water

  29. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I believe it is possible to social distance, wear a mask, wash hands and still contract this contagious virus.

And, certainly we should protect ourselves and be mindful of others….just as you would driving a vehicle.

I think it’s possible that the lockdowns were and are largely ineffective considering the certain economic damage they have caused.

So…..we have millions that have suffered even without contracting the virus.

    ___________

That would be ZERO. Now a collegiate lineman died a month ago with COVID but not from COVID. What killed this guy, son of a former NFL lineman, was heart disease. The kid was about 6’1 and 385 lbs. The virus has been proven to have a lower mortality rate for people under 50 than the flu. Not my numbers. The CDC’s, so you angry Karen Mask Police can go complain to them.

  35. Brandon Says:

Thank you, tampabayfan. Seems the angry Corona mask Lynch mob are always ready to show their ugly brainwashed faces.

  36. D1 Says:

    Tampabaybucfan,

    Well said Sir.

There’s been more than a few incidents of the virus spreading despite masks and social distancing. Too many, in fact.

I believe you bring up a great point that’s not discussed in this current environment. That is the cost benefit analysis of the lock down strategy. I have read one that was published in February and the analysis of the strategy found that the costs were far in excess of the benefits. 8 Mos later, that original study has been validated by the evidence .

Yet, we have no real shift in policy or proposals that reflect both the actual data and research that has been accumulated in the past months. Add the emotional and political appeals to the equation and it’s difficult to respond to this quickly moving crisis.

IMO, one issue is that far too many people are entrenched and emotionally invested in their own opinions . Opinions that, by the way, were formed 8 months ago and have remained unchanged. 8 months In this environment, thats a lifetime and it’s completely counter productive to developing and implementing a more efficient and effective response to the crisis. Public pressure on elected officials and government agencies is not effective if it’s not informed.

I believe it’s fair to say that public opinion is split among political affiliations and informed vs non informed groups. This isn’t the best way to move forward and confront this outbreak. As this is a situation that naturally aligns all citizens toward a singular goal it’s quite a commentary on the divisions that have been created in our nation.

Evidence of this is the promise of a vaccine is already been muted by the political sphere that has rejected the possible cure because of the political gain in may grant the current administration. Insane what politics can do to otherwise rational human beings.

  37. Joe in Michigan Says:

Adrnagy: If by “WR depth” you mean we wouldn’t have to see Cyril Grayson out there on offense, I’ll agree with you.

ZERO! Hundreds and hundreds of high school, college, and pro COVID19-positive athletes without any hospitalizations or deaths blamed on the virus. Just like the science predicted. The actual science.

    UKBuccaneer Says:

You know what usually pushes sick old people over the edge into the netherworld? CORONAVIRUS! Imagine that. It’s been going on for thousands of years. Apparently the UK is fully as dull as dumbed-down America.
    ====================

For you schlemiels who want to preach about the DeAdLy dIsEAsE, there have already been upward of 2,000,000 deaths from starvation in the third world, thanks to your lockdowns which shut down supply lines and demand for consumer goods from those areas. That’s CDC numbers–the CDC who recently told us that the lockdowns are killing more people than they are saving. Just like free-thinking men have been saying from day one.

You virtue-signaling marxists are the actual selfish ones. All for the glory of your little revolution. Revolutions are always accompanied by purges, and you really started this one off with a bang. Congratulations, fools.

  49. Joe in Michigan Says:

Maybe, MAYBE Cyril Grayson can return punts or kickoffs (IF the ball gets stuck in his helmet/face mask).

  50. Todd Says:

I posted this earlier…and apparent there’s a trigger word I used that immediately scoops the comment off to no-read land. So I’ll be cryptic: Baded on the (CD C’s) own numbers, along with the (WH O)’s, of you still believe there’s a frying PAN (Demic), you likely only consume mainstream news (which has put you under a media-induced spell).

I can tell by the comments that there are a very small minority in here who possess the gift of critical thought…you know I’m right. The only place you can catch this faux (DEMIC) is from television.

I would cite some facts with links but I know that’s not cool in here…which is fine. I’m just stating that this is all a shell game and those who don’t believe me need to invest a little time studying the World Economic Forum’s ‘The Great Reset’. This technocratic world takeover has been in the works for 50-years.

  51. Bucsfanman Says:

Todd- Your last paragraph is the one which resonates. There’s only ONE cure for our ills. Take money away from politics. Until then, you can rest assured that NOBODY has your best interests in mind.

The CDC, who admitted that they have been counting everyone who died WITH COVID19, not necessarily BECAUSE of it. That’s on top of the hundreds of doctors and nurses complaining about being pressured to count every death as COVID19. On top of medicaid/medicare creating a financial incentive to mark cases as COVID19.

It’s a fraudulent number. Yet you keep citing it with exasperation, as if it is the holy grail. It’s Fraudulent, with a capital F.

  53. Gee that’s a shame Says:

Ok so a team of young healthy athletes get the sickness that 99.8% of the general population survive from and everyone acts like they just were handed a death sentence. SMDH besides it’s the RAIDERS!! Unless it postponed our game which it shouldn’t I say good! The less players available the better for the Bucs! After all football is war correct? You don’t wait to go to battle until your opponent gets rid of his sniffles.

  54. danr Says:

you desperate people who claim to have ‘looked at the numbers’

are uninformed or only selectively informed. try to do some real research.

the china bug is the number 3 cause of death this year, and has caused more than 200k NEW deaths more than expected (not killing people who were ‘already going to die’)

and all those people saying lockdowns caused deaths, you forget to take into account the impact on the economy an UNMITIGATED virus would have, with millions of deaths, how many suicides or depressions would have raised in that scenario?

It is unfair and lopsided thinking to spout off numbers of consequences of mitigation, without considering the consequences of no mitigation at the same time.

some of you chuckleheads really do lack serious critical thinking skills.

  55. lowercaseg Says:

Alvin Scissors Harper, bro check the stats right now. DEATH cases of covid are only at 9k! The total amount of covid cases are over at 360k but h1n1 surpassed 500k. wtf are you reading.

  56. danr Says:

Bush- the CDC did not say that.

they listed all other symptoms and diagnoses, most of which were CAUSED by covid. people who misread that report as saying 90% had other sicknesses are either confused by the vocabulary, or blatantly misleading.

(worked in medical billing and administration for 7 years)

  57. UKBuccaneer Says:

One word: Sweden. Sweden bucked the system and refused to lock down and mandate masks. It’s almost like Sweden respects personal freedom more than “chucklehead” Americans, which is a helluva thing. Guess what? Sweden proved that the lockdowns and masks made the situation worse. Period.

  61. UKBuccaneer Says:

You can’t compare Sweden or any Scandinavian country to the USA. In Scandinavia they have an inherent trust between government/state and citizen. The government advised citizens to mask up and stay home without enforcing it. Citizens overwhelmingly obeyed.

    .

Because trusting the government inherently is always a good idea. That’s how Europeans wind up as EU citizens when they thought they had sovereign nations.

Apparently you aren’t well versed on Sweden. They don’t even wear masks on public transportation. Maybe you shouldn’t lecture others on Scandinavia.

  63. UKBuccaneer Says:
