Sean Payton Says He And Tom Brady Don’t Want “To Get Another Team In Trouble”

December 6th, 2022

Joe was a little nauseous last night hearing Tom Brady talk to former slimy Saints head coach Sean Payton on SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio.

Payton was a guest on Brady’s weekly Let’s Go! show, where last night Brady was slobbering to Payton about their good friendship and how he’s looked up to Payton as a person and a coach.

Co-host Jim Gray told Payton that it seems with Payton returning to head coaching, likely next season, and Brady going to FOX, they’ll be two ships passing in the night.

Payton rejected the premise.

“Hey, who says Tommy’s coming to FOX right away?” Payton said. “I mean, I know this is his podcast, but clearly we don’t want to get another team in trouble.”

The “another team” reference was to the Miami Dolphins getting fined and losing draft picks in part for their efforts to bring Payton and Brady to the Dolphins together — while Brady was still under contract with Tampa Bay.

“You never know what happens in the NFL. So who knows?” Brady replied. “I thought I was retired; I wasn’t. So, who knows? You never know what the future looks like.”

I’m running to the toilet to vomit right now.

  2. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

Please Bucs ownership; pay Sean Payton whatever he wants to be the head coach here. And bring back Brady.

  3. BrianBucs Says:

Very interesting choice of words by Payton

  4. SB~LV Says:

If the Bucs don’t land SP if he is in the job market… it will not be good in Tampa town

  5. firethecannons Says:

go along with Homer simpson but saints own Payton

  6. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Get Payton here in Tampa; Bowels has no business as the HC, and Byron can be the QB coach

  7. zzbuc Says:

The chances Payton and TB12 join n Tampa is 0%!!!!!
    0 Chance, never gonna happen..

  8. uhmmm Says:

idk why SP would ever want to come to TB. But the Bucs need to try anyways

  9. robert Says:

If they got Payton I would be a non band wagon fan. He is one of the greats! He gets it done with whatever he has. The way this team is coached and the play calls is almost like they think they have Trask in already as qb. The Bucs would excel with Bray or Trask with Payton at the wheel!

  10. Pewter Power Says:

Payton is still under contract with the saints, no way they would trade that guy within their division it would be very foolish so if they play together it would be for a different team

  11. chris l Says:

Why would sean payton want to even come to tampa? even thinking about him as our head coach makes me want to vomit. we hate him and he hates the bucs.

  12. stu padaso Says:

    VOMITING……..REPEATELY

  13. Dreambig Says:

Lol, not much chance of Brady playing next year. He has to make it through this year first.

  14. JBBucs_06 Says:

I dislike SP as a person. Seems so arrogant and narcissistic. If he were Bucs HC, I’d have to support them team, but feel like we can do better than that piece of work.

  15. Bird Says:

Payton is a scumbag but a great offensive mind Maybe best in nfl

But No way the saints would let him come here. With 2 years left on “contract”

  16. SufferingSince76 Says:

Give Brady a reason to stay, Glazers. Your legacy is at stake and is currently on life support for what you’ve allowed to happen this season. Don’t you want to outdo Daddy and get 2 Super Bowls?

  17. BigMacAttack Says:

I hope they both go to the Dolphins, because at this point I’d rather make a play for Aaron Rodgers and there will be good Offensive coordinators available. But Trask is better than many think. The kid is fearless and can ball out if given a chance.

  18. Bird Says:

Who was worse last night ?

Bowles or allen. Both defensive head coaches who have boring conservative offenses. “Yah we beed to run the ball cause that works in todays NFL”.

You can literally fast forward and watch the last few minutes of both the rams and saints games. We are stuck with these coaches for at least another year. Depressing

  19. Tee Says:

This is most likely Brady’s last year with us. Thanks for the ring Tom. Either time for a rebuild on offense or maybe a decent veteran QB will come in here afterwards.

  20. fartman Says:

Payton not gonna come to Tampa.. but if Brady went to the Saints… I would hate that.

  21. Winny Testaverde Says:

Look up to Payton as a person ( coach I begrudgingly get ) ?!

  22. Jack Sparrow Says:

Sean Payton and Tom Brady with the Bucs, only in your dreams…. hahahaha but dreams sometimes happens. Glazers, open that pocket book.

  23. DEFENSE99 Says:

    @fartman

Brady ain’t moving to New Orleans.

  24. WillieG Says:

I’d take Harbaugh over Coach Smirky. But I’ll try to get over my hatred of Smirky if Brady stays as part of the deal.

  25. NC Tim Says:

I would love for Sean Payton to come to the Bucs and Brady to return. Even if TB 12 makes it one more year, Payton is a much better long-term solution for leadership than the coaching options that are currently in place.
    Let’s Go!

  26. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    I think if Tom plays….he stays…..

I just don’t see him moving around the league in his final years….

Much will depend on how we do in the playoffs…..

    We have his team signed…..

  27. ClavisRa Says:

Imagine the Saints offense but with the ability to hit deep passes at any given moment. Unstoppable.

  28. JTHV Says:

I love Tom Brady as the Bucs QB, I also can’t stand Tom Brady as the Bucs QB

  29. Simeon97 Says:

As i sat at the game last night, I was thinking the off season strategy should be to blow out the coaching staff and beg brady to stay. SP would help but I just zero slim to no chance that the saints would trade him to the bucs.

  30. Daniel Says:

I can’t imagine the Saints would trade Sean Payton to the Bucs.

As much as I dislike Payton, he is a gigantic upgrade over Bowles and you get to keep TB12. Bowles cowardly coaching last night was shameful.

  31. Coran Says:

Honestly, I just don’t see Tom on the bucs next year, and definitely not Payton. Saints won’t let him do in the division, and if Tom plays he wants to win and the cap situation here is a massive obstacle. Oddly enough, I can see them both on the saints even though their cap is way worse just cuz they seem to navigate that better than anyone in the league. They have weapons and a great D, you plug Tom in with SP and they’re scary. I also saw an article saying the 9ers, raiders, and titans. Honestly he’d be a great fit for all of them though I don’t see the raiders moving off Carr and while Tom doesn’t get scared by challenges, that division is rough and if he really wants a ring that would be the worst division to go to. If the bucs get their O together and Licht/the Glazers commit to shoring you the line and reworking the cap, maybe he stays which would be cool. But they weren’t willing to this year so I doubt they would. It would be cool though cuz I like this team when they’re clicking.

  32. STL-BucsFan Says:

I posted the other day about this and thought “what if?”, To me I think the Chargers job looks better to him. Young GOOD QB with talent all around that team. The Chargers are a good coach away from being a big dog in the AFC. Their coach is trash and is the reason the Chiefs runaway with that division. Put Payton’s mind to work with that team and Look Out.

But I bleed Pewter & Red and just want this team to be contenders. with this staff I’m just not sure that’s gonna happen.

  33. Bojim Says:

    Pay Payton make Tom happy.

  34. kyle Says:

i would 100 percent say fire Bowles and bring in Payton!! No way saints would let that happen…

  35. HC Grover Says:

Brady saved Bowlzos Bacon last night.

  36. kyle Says:

for you clowns that say you hate payton? why.. its just football.. hes a great coach and would be a huge upgrade. Love to see what he and Brady could do.. fun

  37. Tye Says:

Yeah, it will be a huge slap to the face of every Saints fans to trade Sean in the division especially one that may have Brady at Qb….

NOT really a fan of having Brady at qb next season (46) just for the sake of having Brady…

Would LOVE for next year the Bucs HC to be Jim Harbaugh (wins everywhere he goes); (like I said highly unlikely but) Sean Payton (who has multiple winning seasons on resume); Shane Waldron (who has had success with lesser talent as Geno Smith)…
AND make Tom Brady the new OC…. IF Kellen Moore can have success, surely Tom, with his experience and talent, could be successful… Who better than the GOAT to develop your young qb talent!

  38. Rod Munch Says:

The Bucs are 3-0 when Brady throws an INT.
The Bucs are 3-6 when Brady does not throw an INT.

Goes back to a point I’ve made for many years. You don’t win games by winning the turnover column, you win games by scoring more points than the other team.

  39. Nicholas Carlson Says:

    Bring Sean to Tampa!

  40. Mtbucsfan Says:

Las Vegas has entered the chat.

  41. SPARKY Says:

Did anyone else see after the game when Brady was shaking hands with the Saints? Saints head coach Allen came up to shake Brady’s hand and Tom just kept on walking. Tom still hates Allen from last year when he told Allen to go F him self on national tv because Tom thought the Saints were trying to hurt his receivers after the Godwin hit.

  42. tbbucs3 Says:

I’d rather not have to watch that D bag Peyton on the Bucs sideline next season. Hard pass.

  43. Oxycondoms Says:

Ive seen it over and over again happened again last night before white’s td. Brady and leftwich discussing a play on sidelines and then reading leftwich lips saying yeah lets do that after brady makes a suggestion

  44. Tom in MadCity Says:

Bring Peyton to Tampa. That will keep Brady in town a bit longer.

  45. Redeemer Says:

They tried to get together in Miami, until it all blew up. No, it’s SF or retirement. Maybe he comes back if they dump this entire staff, and hire someone he’s familiar with. Can you imagine Brady with the 9ers? He’d have a ready made Gronk in Kittle, a matchup nightmare in Samuel, and Aiyuk. Not to mention CM, and a championship defense. We don’t even know if Tampa wants him back. They may figure their run is over, hit the reset regardless. With their current cap situation, I don’t see how they improve the roster much. They have a lot of cash tied to guys that will certainly be here next year.

  46. Ed Says:

I hope Brady retires after this season. I think time is finally starting to catch up with him. Yes, he has flashes of the old brilliance, like last night, but let’s remember they had, IIRC, 8 consecutive drives without a score before that, and this is pretty much the norn, not an isolated bad game.
As for Peyton, I despise him more than anyone else and it would make me sick should Brady play for him. Peyton should have been banned for life from anything associated with the NFL after Bountygate.

  47. Anonymous Says:

49ers r gonna resign jimmy g next season, ian rap already reported it. brady to 49ers is never gonna happen as long as shanahan is the hc. he doesn’t like brady.

    Bring Peyton to Tampa.

    ———-

Never going to happen. The Saints would have to trade him to the Bucs, and there’s no way they’re trading Payton to an NFC South team.

  49. Jeffs Dad Says:

Sean payton will NEVER coach the bucs ill take bets

  50. Boston Tommy Says:

Who ever said Rodgers would come to Tampa is a simpleton! He just signed a multi year contract north of the wall. Also he’s a choke artist. Who knows maybe Brady will stick around. He is currently building a fortress on billionaire island!!! I swear some of the ppl on here live under power lines and snack on lead paint chips.

  51. Kalind Says:

this should be Tampa. And if it takes % of the team to make it happen w Tom. Fine.

  52. August 1976 Buc Says:

Brandon Staley is the person looking over his shoulders in LA. The Charger job with Justin Herbert is a very likely spot for Sean Payton to be Head Coach. Sean is not coming to Tampa.
Possiblly Dallas if McCarthy does not win 2 playoff games at least, making it to the NFC title game. Sean is going somewhere that has a QB, he is not going to a team to spin his wheels, but where he has a real shot to win.

  53. ChiBuc Says:

Would love to see Peyton clad in pewter and red on the sideline, but really don’t think it will happen…

Cue the dream sequence audio. Bucs win out despite BL/Bowles mutiny against football logic. Glazers get another trophy for the case. BL is heralded as the offensive mastermind he is not. He gets a HC job, and we get a pick (win, win). Harbaugh is brought in to replace BA & BL, giving him personal oversight and a title of Asst HC and OC. Flores is brought in to relieve Todd of DC duties so he can focus on HC. Brady stays for 1 last hurrah around the horn with his fellow MI alum. 3 weeks in, a coup, Toad Bowles and all of his warts are exposed. He is ousted. Flores & Harbaugh elevate to Co-HC/Coordinators. Bucs repeat. 1more year for Tommy to get an even 10…three peat!!!!

Bubble just burst, still got Lefty n Bowles. Ok, back to dreaming about Peyton

  54. D-Rok Says:

Sure seems like a long-shot for SP to coach here. But the Bucs could benefit from a HC with a more offensive philosophy, that much seems obvious.

I say let’s worry about next year…next year. Meanwhile, back in Gotham City, we have the Niners up next.

    GO BUCS!!!

  55. SlyPirate Says:

    TB12’s Priorities …

    1. TB12 wants to keep playing
    2. TB12 doesn’t want to play in Tampa

The only reason TB12 is in Tampa is because the Bucs weren’t willing to trade him. TB12 fills the stands, sells merch, and gets primetime games. Losing TB12 would be a huge financial loss. The moment TB12 can leave he will.

The crystal ball says TB12 will be in SFO next year.

  56. Anthony Says:

Sorry Peyton is the same guy who paid players to hurt other players. He can ho elsewhere

  57. westernbuc Says:

If Peyton came to Tampa he’d have to quit crying about us tanking for Jameis.

  58. Tap-Out Says:

The only thing clear to me here is the Total Disrespect some so called fans have for “their” team! ….Whining in all fazes of the game!

  59. sasquatch Says:

There’s a solution. Hire Payton and re-sign Brady. That would be a dream. With Payton, we know the offense wouldn’t be stuck in the mud like with LeftBowles.

  60. LastDance Says:

You should all watch the Bill Simmons podcast where he and Peter Shrager discuss all the shockingly believable reasons TB12 goes back the NE next year. Wild stuff. But due to business connections and legacy it totally makes sense. I just cant imagine he comes back here no matter the outcome this year due to these fear ridden and incompetent coaches.

  61. ClwJB Says:

Baby Gruden is a hell of a coach but the Saints would want multiple picks to let him come here

    Much rather have Harbaugh

  62. Cobraboy Says:

I have better odds of being handsome, hung, and rich than Peyton of becoming Bucs HC.

  63. CrackWise Says:

I want to see Brady play in San Fran.

Kyle Trask put up better numbers than all of the current Heisman candidates.

  64. CrackWise Says:

    Passing

    2018 SO 3 14 22 63.6 162 7.4 8.3 1 0 140.5

None of the current Heisman candidates come close to being as good as Kyle was in 2020.

    Bye Bye Brady.

  65. Frank Pillow Says:

Unlock the Rx cabinet and back-up the Brinks truck 😉

  66. SOEbuc Says:

Anyone that doesn’t realize Bowles is returning as HC next year, especially if we win the division, is sorely mistaken. A bangarang OC and Todd Bowles defense coaching is what this roster (that will be wiped out in 2023 including Brady), needs to get a fresh start. After season two, we shall see.

  67. Rod Munch Says:

I don’t get how these idiots that keep saying to hire Payton haven’t seen the 100 different posts explaining that Payton is under contract with the Saints and the Bucs literally can’t just hire him, they’d have to trade for him, and the Saints aren’t trading Payton to the Bucs.

Also remarkable how most of the ‘hire Peyton’ posts all spell his name wrong, almost like it’s just the same idiot posting under different accounts.

  68. lambchop Says:

Why would Sean Payton come out of retirement to coach Brady? Brady has another 1-2 years max. That seems idiotic. Brady going to another team at this stage in his career to learn a new playbook and new players? Foolish. Wining a SB his first year with the Bucs was an outlier.

  69. Josh Says:

Sean Payton should go back to the saints

  70. David Says:

No surprises there. BL, and partially Bowles, have basically run him out of town if he does decide to play one more year.
The Bucs desperately need a QB next year, and apparently an OC as well

  71. NEfan Says:

Bigmacpuddywak@ Rogers? He can’t win with a far better coach, you think he would play for Bowles who would try to neuter him? Make the play $55 MM and lose 3/4 of the team to pay him.

If Brady plays it won’t be for Peyton, it will be LV, Tenn or the Jets. Shanahan and Brady are oil & water.

  72. JP Says:

Dennis Allen is NOT head coaching material…
Brady and Payton back in NOLA with Kamara, Olave, CGM, top 5 O-line and top 5-10 defense would be both of their best chances for another ring or two.

Familiarity with playbook for all those stars, and Payton is the kind of offensive mind to call plays for Brady, not the other way around — ahem, Bruce Arians…

  73. Vadertime Says:

Tampa needs to bring Payton to RJS. They need to pay Bowles to disappear into the annals of NFL irrelevance. Whether or not Brady returns is up to him, however we need a competent, proven leader who can right the ship for the Bucs and build for the future. Go Bucs.

  74. Duane Says:

Payton is an ok choice if you want to make the playoffs every year, but he is also the coach of so many dumpster fire losses by the Saints in said playoffs. He’s like the Aaron Rodgers of coaching.

  75. CrackerBall Says:

You don’t really have to like the guy – but Sean Payton can coach offense.

  76. garro Says:

Hard to believe that the Glazers would consider POS Peyton for a nano second. Harbaugh?…
