Judging Schiano: Effort, Development & Strategy

October 30th, 2013

Longtime NFL general manager Charley Casserly, now an NFL Network analyst, went deep into how an organization proceeds when it has no shot at the playoffs at midseason, during an interview this morning on WDAE-AM 620.

Casserly explained that it’s a tough balancing act when an organization doesn’t mind losing but wants players playing hard, so sound evaluation can happen and there’s no quitters stench carrying into the following season.

On judging Greg Schiano, Casserly said Team Glazer should evaluate the effort on the field, the development of young players, and the effectiveness of Schiano’s gameday strategies. “If you’re hitting all those marks, then you can say the coach is doing a good job,” Casserly said. “If you’re not, then the coach isn’t doing a good job.”

Oh great! Just found out we picked up another undrafted corner. Guess its all about depth right?

Good points by casserly. The team is playing hard. The scary thing about schiano is his in game stuff. Look how bad the start of the jets game was…. that was the 1st game of the year and he had 8 months to prepare! Look how bad we looked vs the eagles comming off a bye, and look how competitive we are in the 1st half and how bad we are in the second because the other teams make adjustments and we dont!
We are in week 9 before the team says we are going to use revis more in man coverage… the media and fans have been crying for it all year. All last year we repeatedly got burned by blitzes but kept doing it. It seems sciano and staff are going to keep doing it their way no matter what. How about playing to your players strengths and making adjustments?????
Even if he finally learns from his mistakes….its too late now.

    Dang!! 0-3!

0 for 3 equals 1 for 14, in this case.

And no, the team isn’t showing great effort. They are showing an almost uncanny ability to self destruct- at critical moments.

    Not exactly championship behavior.
You guys think what you want.

    Me, I support our players!

If we miss out on Mariota or Bridgewater, I will be highly pissed…tank the season already
