The Bucs And The Trade Deadline

October 28th, 2013

So in a little over 24 hours, the NFL trade deadlines arrives at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Now Joe knows baseball fans get worked up over the trade deadline and NHL fans spend the day of the trade deadline wearing out their F5 (refresh) key because trades happen fast and furious.

Joe would be shocked if the Bucs trade for anyone. Why give up draft picks for anyone that likely won’t help this season?

Now Joe could see the Bucs trading players if Team Glazer wants to go all-in on the draft next season and wants to clean house. This is just a guess. No one but Bucs commander Greg Schiano and Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik know what Team Glazer may be thinking, and even those two likely aren’t totally sure.

Many people believe the Bucs are far more talented to make a run with the Jags for the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. Joe agrees. So if some team is desperate, then it wouldn’t shock Joe to see a team (or teams) poach the Bucs for a player.

Frankly, Joe doesn’t expect any movement by the Bucs. But if there is a transaction, it is more likely a Bucs player being moved than the Bucs trading a draft pick.

    can this get any worse!!

Trade greg schiano for ….. Well…. GIVE Greg Schiano away!

The Bucs at this point have no 3rd or 6th round pick in next draft. It wouldn’t hurt to try to dump off some of these over-priced under-performing players while they can still get something for them for a couple of picks

I hope we don’t make any moves. I don’t want to see any of our players on other teams. We suck for sure but we are in position to be very good next year with a couple of impact players and a new coach.

We’d have to give up a 1st round pick to get rid of schiano….we dont need to trade, we need smarter coaches, they played better last year and they lacked focus and big play ability all offseason and all year so i think schiano is the distraction

Giving away a pick for a player makes no sense for the Bucs at this point. If we can trade away anybody for a decent draft pick, I see no reason not to. This team is gonna need players under a new regime. Rebuild OL. Need some DEs that can get the job done. TE. More WRs. Why not stock up on draft picks?

At the same time, given his tenuous status at this point, I doubt Dominik is willing to sacrifice anything for next year and future years. The team needs to win as many of the remaining games as possible in order to him stick around.

Would be interesting to know if the Glazers have given Dominik any mandates in planning for next year.

I doubt any team wants any player(s) the Bucs would be willing to talk about. Too bad, the team has little depth at any position.

I know you’ll hate to hear it, but this is almost like rebuilding, I mean we keep hearing we have talent, and we do have some, but I wouldn’t say we are talent rich by no means, we have very little depth at pretty much every position, we need to retool the OL bigtime, either those guys just got old fast, or they weren’t as good as we thought they were, Penn and Joseph have played way below expectations, we can’t seem to keep Nicks on the field, so this is an area of need, and so is the Defensive Line, God knows we’ve been tinkering with that forever, what I would do for some magic of Bucs D of 1999!

What a pathetic mess this organization is. They are injury plagued, out coached weekly, GM weak and have zero hope in sight. Just move the team to England or Vegas and get it over with.
