The Clock Ticks On Greg Schiano

October 20th, 2013

Joe isn’t aware of what happens within the luxury offices of One Buc Palace, where Team Glazer gathers to make franchise-shaping decisions. But Joe’s pretty darn sure Greg Schiano’s future will be atop the agenda of the next shareholders meeting.

How could it not be?

Schiano has guided the Bucs to one win in their last 12 games. The team is getting progressively worse. Fans are outraged, deservedly so. Nobody with a sober mind can call the Bucs a well coached team. Nobody.

The Bucs have another game in four days against a rejuvenated, 3-3 Carolina Panthers team and their ferocious defense. Joe’s almost afraid to watch what the happens to the Bucs in Seattle in two weeks.

Joe doubts Team Glazer makes any kind of coaching change during this season unless the Bucs start quitting on Schiano and that on-field surrender forces their hand. That hasn’t happened yet. But the white flag can’t be far away, barring a historic miracle. The other thing that could force Team Glazer’s hand on a coaching change is fan outcry. Do Bucs fans care enough to march in front of One Buc Palace or boo Schiano out of the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway? Joe suspects too many fans are too numb and already tuned out.

  5. Sckelly22 Says:

Joe, is it to early to do a story on coaches currently or likely available next year?

  6. Adam L. Says:

The longer the Glazers leave Schiano in control the more they’re just saying they agree with what is happening.

  7. k1ngadroc Says:

i will accept no more excuses. Fire this staff as a matter of principle and show the players that no one is above non-performance. Staff is inept and it is GLARING.

  8. JK Says:

No one should show up to boo. take your over priced tickets and shove them up where the sun don’t shine!

  9. JK Says:

the Bucs are great. Is that better Joe?

  10. 1neb Says:

I try to always be optimistic about the bucs and drown with them but schiano is not the guy we need . there is too much talent on this team to be 0-6. You can’t get to the 5yard line and go in complete reverse at any level of football especially the NFL and think you can win . so guys, ITS TIME !!!!!!!! See you guys on Thursday

  11. Joseph Mamma Says:

Hey we manage the salary cap well right?

  12. Mr Lucky Says:

The Glazers would be STUPID to NOT fire Schiano within the next few weeks. When the Bucs get the 1 or 2 pick in the draft you need the coach of the future to pick you QB of the future.

Fire Schiano now so you can begin interviewing people immediately. Let Mike Sullivan take over to see if HE has the right stuff. Schiano is “dead man coaching” so why wait?

Can you imagine how the Glazers will react if Josh Freeman wins on MNF and throws 2 or more TD?

  13. DWBuc99 Says:

IF there is a crowd of …say… 40k on National TV on Thursday night enough for them to make a change?????

  14. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Last week Schiano tried to convince us that Revis played mostly man. This week he is going to try to convince us that the scoreboard is wrong and we actually won the game.

  15. Andrew 1 Says:

    numb is right.

  16. Mr Lucky Says:

Hey I’ve got an idea for the next Buc’s home game promotion:

    FIRE SCHIANO signs.

Give one to every fan upon entering!

    Bet it’s a sell-out game!

  17. Harry Says:

Joe, you asked before, actually about every week, why fire Schitzano? Until now, I could not answer that question; after all, I don’t see any of the existing staff being serviceable HC’s, and if we are going to lose, I want to lose big to improve our draft position, etc.

But you know why you have to fire Schitzano? Because if you don’t, the Bucs will lose fans that will never come back.

All we really want to see is a little improvement at this point. even the W’s are not a big deal. As a Bucs fan, I just want the some of the embarrassing stuff to stop.

  18. ryan Says:

I think I’ll make a Go Back to College sign for Thursday’s game. Do they allow paper bags to be worn anymore?

Bucs fans need to make a scene for the NFL Network game if Schiano is still coaching come Thursday.

  19. Mr Lucky Says:

Can we start the newest Bucs website?

    HIREBILLCOWHER.COM?

Let’s face it people there are going to be HC openings in Houston at least. Let’s stop experimenting and go with a winner.

  20. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    Scoreboards are for losers.

  21. Adam L. Says:

I am skipping Thursdays game and not selling my tickets. I want the seats to be empty.

  22. WalkdaPlank Says:

At this point I think Schiano has pretty much lost the team. Can’t even beat the bruised up, 1-4 Failcons? Their two best receivers and RB out with injuries and the defense looks like a bunch of lawn chairs? Joe, don’t you think that right about now Schiano is ruining this team for the next head coach? This team is loaded with talent and with the right coaching and playcalling we could be a playoff team, but Schiano has made it the laughing stock of the NFL.

  23. Splengo Says:

    You mean the pendulum swings!

  24. JonBuc Says:

As Pink Floyd puts it…” I’ve become comfortably numb.” Apathy has set in. Got to give Glennon his due…played his arse off. I don’t want him starting next year but could handle him as a back-up.

  25. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Just curious, how much longer until Schiano fixes all this? He promised me earlier he would.

  26. oviedobucsfan Says:

Still cannot beleive Schottenheimer was interviewed TWICE and still lost the job to Schiano. A man with a proven NFL track record and a college coach was picked…WHY? Look at the results of this one decision. I wonder if Marty would take it if offered next year? Would Cowher? Lovie Smith? Anybody?

  27. chickster Says:

nothing left to say I am so over this now I cant wait for the off season
