Vikings Treat Players With Quality

October 16th, 2013

Former Bucs franchise quarterback and current Minnesota Vikings starting quarterback Josh Freeman had a few brief words for the Vikings’ pen and mic club and, apparently, he just cannot turn the page on the Bucs, tossing out a not-so-veiled reference to Bucs commander Greg Schiano.

Twittering from the land of a thousand lakes, Tom Pelissero of USA Today jotted down a few of Freeman’s thoughts this afternoon.

@TomPelissero: Freeman also emphasized the #Vikings org has people committed to being “quality human beings” and “they do things the right way around here”

OK, so Josh had his (handsomely-paid) feelings hurt by the big, bad coach in Tampa. You know, Josh, Joe is just going to guess that if you didn’t one-hop so many passes to running backs, if you didn’t mistake so many opposing cornerbacks for teammates, if you didn’t force so many passes to DJ Toes on the Line, and, you know, won a few games, that the big bad coach wouldn’t have been such a bully to you all along. In fact, he would have given you a hug and made sure you had cookies and warm milk before you went to bed each night. Chocolate chip cookies, in fact.

This just demonstrates what Freeman’s detractors have stated all along, that Freeman still has some growing up to do.

Has anyone heard Christian Ponder whine and complain and cry and bellyache and demand to be released or traded? Joe hasn’t.

Then again, Joe would be content with life too if he came home to Samantha Steele each night.

    Oh Free Free,

I hope no one makes a huge deal if he does well on Monday.

We all know that he has a Jekyll and a Hyde.

Good Josh may make an appearance but since when has he not???

Bad Josh will inevitably rear his ugly head.

  2. You Go Joe Says:

We moved on from all that, freeman pulling of an Irsay. Though I see it that he has a chance to prove himself, against on of the worst defenses this year.

  3. BirdDoggers Says:

It was only a matter of time before Freeman started throwing jabs at his former team. He should just take the high road and let the past be the past. It was clear his relationship with Schiano was strained. He needs to be a professional and move on.

  4. lightningbuc Says:

    “quality human beings”

JFro, quality human beings don’t leave a bunch of kids who paid money for your camp to wonder why you weren’t there.

Quality human beings don’t miss team photos – no matter the reason.

Qualtiy human beings don’t miss team breakfasts on Opening Day.

You might want to look in the mirror before spouting off about “quality human beings”.

  5. OAR Says:

    “quality human beings”
    Isn’t that a reality show on A&E?

  6. Adam L. Says:

“You know Josh.. if you were PAYING ATTENTION you would see that the Bucs…..

    …. too soon?”

  7. OAR Says:

If you don’t have anything nice to say….tweet that $h!+.

  8. Sir P Says:

Numerous of other former Bucs players take jabs at Schiano and you don’t make a smart a$$ post about it or say they need to grow up? Obviously the pen and mic club has picked sides between Josh and Schiano and you make it OBVIOUS to which side you are on.. Josh has every right to be mad after being benched then released look what happens.. Captain Drops is gone.. We are actually throwing on 1st downs..Running shorter quicker routes to make up for our horrendous line play instead of 30 yard Go routes all the time.. We are actually using our backup RB’s to spell Doug.. It only took Tim Wright 4 weeks to learn how to catch a damn ball.. Hell we even had a fake punt on our own side of the field! Best part is I don’t even want Freeman as our QB.. I wanted a QB from this coming Draft Class since the start of LAST YEAR(Murray Mariota Manziel Gardner Hundley Petty)

  9. Patrick in VA Says:

I’d agree that Josh was being a whiner I’d this weren’t the sentiment we hear from every player that leaves Tampa

  10. ShutTheBucUp Says:

I think Freeman will have a decent game against the dreadful G-Men. That will get everyone in Minnesota all excited….until they face a team with a winning record…

  11. Tampabaybuctfan Says:

Freeman is history, gone, departed, terminated, through, finished, vanished, elsewhere, SYONARA, ADIOS, AU-REVOIR, Auf WIEDERSHEN, CHEERIO, ADJO, ANTIO, DO SVIDANIYA, HASTA LA VISTA, BYE-BYE…. SO LONG
Of course, Schiano would say CAIO!!!

    I say GOOD RIDDANCE!!!

  12. buc89 Says:

Never bash a former employer. Freeman needs to grow up

  13. Tampamac Says:

Joe, I believe I speak for the majority of fans in saying who gives a rat’s ass what Freeman has to say? He’s no longer a Buc. I’m more interested in things like Banks and Nicks’ health progression.

  14. Biff Barker Says:

If Vikes indeed do things the right way, Freeman can’t last long.
Word was that Head Coach Leslie Fraiser didn’t want Josh but was overruled by his GM.
    Sounds like Chapter 2.

  15. Tampamac Says:

My apologies Joe.. Didn’t see the Nicks article before I posted. But my sentiments on Freeman remain.

  16. Young buc Says:

Freeman gonna shut u all up

  17. PRBucFan Says:

Freeman would have to do it for an entire season to shut anyone up ;)

    Nice try though

  18. MadMax Says:

Cant wait to see this game and watch freefree help the Giants win their 1st of the season. They were saying today how good he looks in practice (sound familiar?)….yup, he’ll tear it up in practice, but put on a little pressure, in a game, in front of fans, he’ll have all kind of problems and wont accept any responsibility for them!

Giants win their first of the season on Monday night….PUT MONEY ON IT!!!!

What a cry baby. He sucked and he knows as well as we do. Suck it up, you’re a freakin millionare that gets paid to play a game. You are not the sun that the world revolves around. Act like a professional, better yet act like a man and quit you’re crying. Glennon already looks better than you. At least he can find the check down instead of taking a sack..

  21. Hawaiian Buc Says:

I’m not a Freeman supporter (he had to go), but every time he compliments his new team doesn’t mean he’s bashing his old. Even if he is, I think he has extreme enough of circumstances to warrant a quick jab or two. He believes they leaked his medical information out to the public!!! Wouldn’t you be pissed to and want to give out a jab or two? Just because he got paid is irrelevant to the situation. He got paid because they had to pay him, period.

As for Ponder, that’s not entirely accurate. Ponder said he is “disappointed and frustrated” that the dynamics of the organization have changed by bringing in Freeman. Doesn’t sound to me like he’s keeping his mouth shut about the situation. But again, the situation is completely different. I can guarantee you if they drag him through the mud to justify starting Freeman, things would be different.

  22. Capt. Tim Says:

Freeman is doing what every member of the media, and every player who leaves here does.
He’s telling everyone that Schiano is a nut job.

  23. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Players ask to be released or traded all the time. That doesn’t mean they are a crybaby. It’s a business. Why is it ok for teams to cut players before their contract is up, yet it’s not ok for a player to hold out or demand a trade? Funny that doesn’t happen in any other professional sport.

  24. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @Capt. Tim,

Exactly, but it’s funny how the Schitler jock holders think nothing of it. They blame the player for complaining. Maybe if it was just a player or two, that would be sour grapes. But when it’s several players, perhaps the problem isn’t the players and could be the coach. I don’t know, that’s just me.

  25. SG5821 Says:

So what happened when Coach Schiano took a jab at Freeman during the bye week- I think he said that Mike Glennon does not make the same mistakes over and over again unlike some other QB’s in the league… Free taking a shot at the coach is wrong but coach taking a shot at Free is right???

  26. Buc1987 Says:

  27. Buc1987 Says:

Young buc is your name Ra-phael by any chance?

  28. Buc1987 Says:

Damn Joe, I didn’t realize you had HIS name filtered…

  29. OAR Says:

“Players ask to be released or traded all the time”
But right after their demoted to third string? Sorry, that sounds like bitching and whinning to me. I am married, so I’m familiar with both of these.

  30. PRBucFan Says:

We are playing nice now remember :)

I wouldn’t say anyone is Schiano’s jock holder.

Schiano still has much to prove. Namely that he can Win

Freeman not so much, he already proved he wasn’t cut out for the job here.

Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if he did do well on Sunday. I have always known that he could play great ball. My only complaint was that he was never able to to do it consistently. The day that he does it for an entire season is the day I wiill gladly eat crow.

Anywho, just my thoughts on it.

Lets see what the outcome is after the end of the season before we come to conclusion on whether “he proved anyone wrong”

  31. PRBucFan Says:

“I think he said that Mike Glennon does not make the same mistakes over and over again unlike some other QB’s in the league.”

Really those were the exact words that came out of his mouth?

  32. Harry Says:

@ Hawaiian – “He believes they leaked his medical information out to the public!!!”

We don’t know that maybe Free or his agent did the leaking. I am not saying he did, but who benefitted the most in this deal. Yeah, maybe Shitzano leaked it all to save face, but in doing so, the Bucs lost any chance at getting something in trade for Free. To top it off, after that there was no way the Bucs could claim “conduct detrimental” to stop paying Free – they would look complete morons.

What did Free get? In addition to FULL pay from the Bucs, Free got to cut a FA deal for another $2MM this year, and he got to pick where he wanted to go. Sounds to me like Free got EVERYTHING out of this deal where “someone” leaked his medical info. I don’t think there is anyway to find out who leaked it, but I am highly suspicious of Free’s Agent.

  33. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @Oar,

Actually, Brad Johnson was delegated to third string and then asked to be cut too. It happens.

  34. buc4lyfe Says:

No need to hate on the guy joe…..talk about how scared you and schiano are that he may actually get the support from an organization and may play well after dumping him for another freeman, freeman inaccurate on short passes but glennon cant complete a pass over 20 yards and the fact is we have more talent than the vikings so talk about how embarrassing it will be for the organization if freeman plays well. what can you say if theres dramatic improvement in his game lol what would you say that he grew up in a month?

  35. Eric Says:

Free is miles better than Ponder.

Free is miles better than Glennon.

The measure of a good coach is getting the best out of a player. How many guys on this team are underperforming? Many more than just Free.

Gee, wonder why? Are they all crybabies too? Revis himself has been burned for critical td’s the last two weeks. Is he a crybaby? The multi million dollar oline? All crybabies?

Six points in the second half all year? And Free was the whole problem?

Freeman’s statement is 1000% accurate. I expect him to play very well Monday night and I’ll be tuning in to see what Gruden’s take is. Will be more interesting than watching the Falcons toy with the Bucs.

  36. Tampabaybuctfan Says:

It really doesn’t matter how Freeman plays for another team unless he is playing against us.

I wonder if Shaun King thinks the Vikings should sign Freeman to a long term deal now?

“Shaun King, one of two Buc Quarterbacks that lost a NFC Championship Game when his defense gave up 11 or fewer points.”

  37. PRBucFan Says:

“Free is miles better than Ponder.

Free is miles better than Glennon.”

Alhoa. If youre referring to his last days with the Vikings, I don’t remember him being flat out benched. It was injuries to Warren Moon that allowed Brad to start and then later on injuries to himself to allow Cunningham to start. I believe they went 15-1 with Cunningham that year and was offered the spot. He did ask to be traded but entirely different circumstances than Freeman. Freeman whinned and didn’t handle the situation well.

  41. Couch Fan Says:

“Shaun King, one of two Buc Quarterbacks that lost a NFC Championship Game when his defense gave up 11 or fewer points.”

    ———————————————–

“Josh Freeman, one of thirty Buc starting QBs who have failed to take us to the post season.”

  42. Harry Says:

I guess Adam Schein is not happy if the MN demoted Ponder in favor of Free? Too funny!

Have fun with your new Freeman team.

  44. D-Rome Says:

Freeman is doing what every member of the media, and every player who leaves here does.
He’s telling everyone that Schiano is a nut job.

    Agreed.

The Vikings are a better team and a better run organization than the Buccaneers right now.

Anyone butt hurt by Freeman’s comments shouldn’t be if it’s the truth.

  45. OAR Says:

    HawaiianBuc
Alhoa. Brad Johnson got his first starting job with Vikings due to a Warren Moon injury. He lost his starting job to injuries and then Cunningham took them 15-1, I believe. Freeman was benched because he of his play not injuries.

  46. Harry Says:

Eric, no one said Free was the only problem. Most everyone thinks Shitzano is an idiot too. But anyone who says Free did not deserve what he got is tripping on some seriously illegal drugs. He may look great Monday. The Giants have no D. But if the “Good Josh” shows up monday, I guarantee the “Bad Josh” won’t be far behind.

Free caused Free’s problems, no one else. I saw where someone in here tried to say the play calling was geared to make Free look bad. Really? Was this said with any clear use of grey matter? Yeah, the coaches wanted to loose just to make Free look bad. Come on ppl…

You can stop crying now Ericka. Mommy says your Spahgettio’s are ready!

  48. Hawaiian Buc Says:

My question is this: How bad do things have to get before EVERYONE realizes how bad Schiano is? If winning 1 out of his last 11 and all of his close games aren’t enough, there’s all this off the field drama. There’s players complaining. There’s other NFL coaches that can’t stand the guy. There’s players on other teams bashing him. The media is bashing him. There’s tons of nut job stories out there, which I believe at least a few of are true. There’s his failure with the Freeman situation (no matter which side you are on, he botched that situation TERRIBLY). There’s even regression of a huge percentage of our players. Everyone was in love with his defense, with one particular moron calling him Dungy 2.0. How’s that working out for you now? How good is our defense? How bad is our offense? What exactly are we good at besides off field distractions and losing? What is there to defend this guy on? How much time should he get to infect this entire team? But nah, let’s pounce on Freeman for complimenting his new team. He’s obviously the problem. Everything is great at One Buc.

  49. chickster Says:

I cant wait until free show what he can do with a real NFL coaching staff and shut you little bitches up Freemen will have a great season with the vikes this coaching staff in tampa have no clue and you will see that as the weeks go on and not just for this year but for years to come

  50. chickster Says:

    Hawaiian is right on point

  51. chickster Says:

And you bet the Glazers will be watching Monday night

  52. Couch Fan Says:

I can’t wait til Freeman has his first multi turnover game and all you “little bitches” will be crying for us some more and I’m sure you will be blaming it all on Schiano.

  53. PRBucFan Says:

I don’t care whether Schiano ends up being the guy or not.

    If he does great

    If he doesn’t great too

    We’ll move on, simple

Does not change the fact the Freeman failed and was indeed part of the problem.

“shut you little bitches up Freemen will have a great season with the vikes”

Now now children, let’s play nice

Again he has a LONG way to go before he can prove anyone wrong.

But my only question is why are you still here??? If Freeman means that much to you why don’t you buy a Vikings Jersey, burn all your Bucs gear, and move on???

If it’s to the point where you would rather watch us fail and him succeed than it’s clear whose fan you really are right?

  54. PRBucFan Says:

Also anyone notice that Free’s number 1 fan Raph ael disappeared after he did?

I wonder whose username he’s writing under now.

  55. Capt. Tim Says:

Eric- yup, dying to see Grudens take. And agreed.
I read that Freeman asked to be traded before the draft.
I think Freeman is far more talented than Ponder and Glennon also.
    He has shown the potential.
If that’s the case- you try to get that out of him, with consistancy.
You work with him. You design the offense to his strengths. If he struggles, you sit him a game, and you stand next to him that game- and talk to him about everything that’s happening. You fly his parents into town, and pay for them all to go places together! You watch tape with him, you defend him him against the media, like he was your 6 year old Son!!

If you have a guy, with the talent to take you to the Super Bowl- you try everything you can- to earn his trust, build his confidence, let him know that it is his team!! And all you want, is for him to lead it!

Why? Because there are only a few guys walking the face of this earth- that can win a Super Bowl. Meybe 5-10. You spend your NFL career with” game managers”, and you are waiting for “that guy” to wonder into your life.

Freeman may never be that guy.may not have had the head for it. I really doubt that myself.
But what happened here, is what shouldn’t happen. The coach brings in an offense. It doesn’t play to Freeman’s strengths, it actually forced him into his weakest attributes. A stand still pocket passer.
By the middle of last season, teams had figured out the offense. Freeman had nowhere to throw to. He got frustrated, and the losses mounted.
This preseason- it was obvious that the offense was not going to be changed.
” TE and Slot Reciever aren’t important in this offense”
That would scare any intelligent QB to death. You know you can’t win with that offense! Coach stonehead refuses to adjust offense- Freeman ask to be traded.

In my opinion- based and what I’ve read and heard, we lost a young talented QB- over his and Schianos disagreement over the Rutgers offense.

He gave Glennon half the snaps with the first string offense, the day he walked in. That came straight from Mike Williams. That meant he had given up on Freeman in training camp.
Then why not trade him? Why the childish games.
Because that is who Schiano is. He will never take us to the Super Bowl. Freeman might have.

  56. PRBucFan Says:

    Sound take Cap,

I know the kid has talent, that was never a question.

The only question was whether he could maintain it for an entire season.
without reverting to a QB who to put simply is awful.

I guess we will see after an entire season and even probably another season if he indeed was capable. Or of he will just show us what we have already seen.

I mean he gave us 1 season after all but never back to back seasons.

  57. Buc1987 Says:

Sure Capt Tim…at the top of your post, what your describing is something you should do for a special needs kid. Not ranking on ya, or Freeman it’s just the way I read it.

  58. Couch Fan Says:

    @Buc1987

Exactly. I guess we should change his diaper and throw him over our shoulder to burp him as well. Ridiculous. And this is the same guy that insults peoples intelligence in every single post. Unbelieveable. LOl

  59. Couch Fan Says:

Not to mention we did try to sit him for a game. And what happened? In less than 24 hours he’s crying that he wants a trade. Yea let’s leave that part out.

  60. madmacskillz Says:

I don’t blame Freeman. Our Coach is a major league a-hole who is going to get fired because he and his staff don’t know what the hell they’re doing.

But don’t the owners deserve some blame? They fire Gruden and replace him with the defensive backs coach. And then they replace him with a Big East Coach. Perhaps they’ll find a high school coach next.

  61. lightningbuc Says:

    Oil Derrick,

    I get it! Nice

  62. Capt. Tim Says:

I’m not insulting anyone. Or insulting anyone else’s take on the situation. It my opinion

I just believe that a combo of rookie co-ordinators and rookie head coaches, isn’t the way to groom a franchise QB.

That was the best we could do? Really?

  63. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Whether or not Freeman plays well for another team is irreverent to me. As of right now, I only care about how Glennon plays (and Matt Ryan on Sunday). That’s not the issue though. The issue is how the situation was handled by the Bucs, namely Schiano. It’s about the worst handling of a situation of any organization I’ve ever seen. Freeman absolutely deserves his share of the blame, but Freeman is a player and the Bucs are an organization. They have the power to handle the situation in the best way, and they failed at that miserably. They had no control over the situation, and they are the ones that let it get out of hand. And to make matters worse, they let it get out of hand for well over a week. That’s ridiculous. I can’t see another qualified coach allowing that to happen, but Schiano did. It sucks, but one day every single fan is going to realize how poisonous Schiano really is, and is going to feel like a complete idiot for ever believing in him. That day has already come for most of us, including myself. There’s just a few hanging on for dear life.

  64. Amarti190711 Says:

I agree with Freeman not performing great but who in this team is performing great this year? Mason Foster… LVD is great too (erasing his costly mistake) now how many players are under performing? All!!!
That’s the coaching staffs fault. Aqib Talib looks like a Hall of Famer in New England. Seems like some coaches get the best out of players. Not ours tho

  65. Capt. Tim Says:

    Hawaiian- well said.

And guys, think of it this way
    We just drafted Teddy Bridgewater.
The Bucs front office goes public with their plans for him,
2 years with Raheem Morris, and two different rookie Offensive co-ordinators!!
Then, he graduates to two years of Greg Schiano, and a Rookie O.C.
They are asking opinions- if this sounds like a great plan!!
Anybody got any hope for poor Teddy?

  66. Biff Barker Says:

    Cap’n Tim,

You addressed all the positives except….

    Staring down receivers.
    Not hitting receivers in stride.
    Woeful mid field accuracy.
The inability to read coverage so he forced the ball to the primary.
Dreadful accuracy, hence the sub 50% completion percentage.
Not meeting his responsibilities to teammates and fans.

And drumroll please…. He stuck it to Raheem too.

That’s what I and the multitude NFL insiders and other mere mortal fans have seen.

I wanted a franchise QB in the worst way too but was done with him last season.

  67. DCBUCSFAN Says:

Please wake me when Shiano is FIRED!!!!!

  68. ClassieFreddieBlassie Says:

Let’s not dress up the situation and pretend the Bucs aren’t in the current state that they are, that being a downhill-rolling runaway dumpster fire. From the bad drafting to the 2 bad coaching hires to MRSA infections that can’t seem to be cleaned up and to simply losing football games, this team has been in a steep and steady decline for the last three years. If anyone in this has to put their big-boy pants on, it`s Schiano. He needs to realize these are grown men he is coaching and not a bunch of fresh-faced high schoolers he can push around. And granted, not the best way to go about it, but I believe Freeman is telling the truth, and probably speaking to the sentiments of more than a couple current Buc players. The Dominick/Schiano era has to come to an end in about 10 weeks.

  69. PRBucFan Says:

Fact is all we know and hear is what the media portrays

I’ll never know what REALLY happened and I’m not going to pretend like I do either.

    Plain and Simple

  70. chickster Says:

Coach talked about performance and his record speaks for itself the glazers will wait until the season is over as they should Bringing a new coach in is the only way we will get any free agents to come here and I even liked this guy and had high hopes for this season like everyone else its sad because I feel like I did in the 80 and now all the jokes are starting on espn and well deserved and I have to turn my phone off during the games to keep my friends at bay because I ran my mouth how good we were going to be but this is worst than the 80 because we have talent and its just embarrrasing

  71. kh Says:

Hawaiian – what on earth are you talking about? I haven’t seen one person defend Schiano. Blasting Josh for being the immature coward that he is is not endorsing Schiano. I would flip the tables on your statement, when are you going to realize Josh Freeman is a punk bitch?

  72. lightningbuc Says:

    kh,

Well said. One could argue that the one thing we can thank Schiano for is ridding the Bucs of Freeman!

  73. kh Says:

Almost every post reads like no one shares his disgust of Schiano, when 99.9% of Bucs fans feel the same way, I just don’t understand.

  74. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @Kh,

Then you haven’t been paying attention. There has been some. Bucs1987 has called him Dungy 2.0. If that’s not defending him, I don’t know what is.

  75. PRBucFan Says:

    In this thread?

  76. Capt. Tim Says:

    Prbucfan.
You are absolutely right. We depend on Media, and may never know what is going on in OneBuc

But if fifty people all run out of a building- shouting that it’s on fire! I’m going to give serious credence to the possibility it’s on fire!

Everyone coming out of OneBuc, all are saying the same thing. Not sure, but you have to lend them some credence.

  77. Vincente Says:

I hate schiano. Freeman did fine just had bad coaching the entire time he was here. And Joe you need to make up your mind. Quit talking bad about Freeman. Just a month ago you talked highly of him now your bashing him. It’s not like he’s lying. This coach is a terrible human being. Can’t wait till he’s gone!

  78. Back up kicker Says:

The one think we can thank Schiano for is getting rid of this a$$ clown. Bye bye Josh

  79. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @PRBucfan,

No, not in this thread. However, there are so many people who continue to bash Freeman for nothing. I was one of the people that believed Freeman had to go, so understand that I’m not even a Freeman guy. I do know, however, that this problem we have is much bigger than Freeman. For fans to bash Freeman for complimenting his new team is ridiculous. He plays for a different team now. I’m worried about Matt Ryan, not Josh Freeman. Of course I’m interested in how he does, but I don’t wish success or failure for him. I don’t care if he stinks it up, nor do I care if he plays lights out. Regardless, Schiano is at blame, and he needs to be gone ASAP.

Your a punk bitch and I hope freeman balls out like a mf an sticks up the bucs arssssssss

  81. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    Capt. Tim,

I’m with you. It absolutely blows my mind that there is this much smoke on Schiano, yet people will create excuse after excuse for him. “But he’s doing a great job on the defense”, “there’s nothing wrong with bum rushing the kneel down”, “the QB coach shouldn’t coach fundamentals to the Qb”, “the fact that we have 6 offensive points in the second half of games this year has nothing to do with halftime adjustments”, “He needs time to work with HIS QB”, “Schiano has nothing to do with the offensive play calling”, “He’s only coached 21 games”, “He had to deal with Freeman”, “Michael Bennett is a cry baby”, “Lawrence Tynes brought the MRSA to the Bucs”, “Kellen Winslow is uncoachable”, “Legarette Blount is a terrible RB”, “Aqib Talib is a terrible CB”, “With a little more time, Schiano will win these close games”, “It’s all Dominik’s fault”, and my personal favorite “Freeman probably leaked the info that he was in the drug program”.

  82. BucsFan68 Says:

Josh Freeman gave an honest opinion about how he was treated on his way out. He was wrong to miss the team photo and team meetings but that should have stayed in house. He wasn’t the only late to the team photo or late to team meetings. There’s a lot of things that go on in locker rooms around the NFL. We don’t know what those things are and that’s the way it should be. Some of you posting have things that go on in your household that stay within the confines of the family itself. If Josh was the sole problem as some of you imply, then the Bucs would be 2-3 and getting back in the thick of things, playoff wise but they’re 0-5 and have a coach who doesn’t know how to deal with grown players.

  83. Patrick Says:

Blount should’ve never left and while Talib is a thug, he’s still talented. We’re seeing that right now with his success in New England. Three years of the Raheem fiasco ruined him in Tampa. Change of scenery = change in performance for him.

  84. THETRUTH Says:

JOSH is so professional, dude was on verge of making 80+ million contract and he screws up all summer and doesnt prepare himself to play lights out on sundays.
being late to meetings and all other irresponsible things he did, no one smart would pay him.

JOSH DU HIS HOLE not Schiano, schiano knew josh was just digging a whole for schiano with the terrible play..

  85. Hawaiian Buc Says:

To be clear, I’m not saying all these issues are the fault of Schiano. Under the circumstances, Talib had to be traded. Freeman acted in a way where he deserved to get cut. I’m sure Winslow is no fun to be around. However, there are sooooo many stories out there, you’d be a fool to believe Schiano doesn’t bear a huge percentage of the blame. And with no wins to back himself up, what realistic defense does he really have?

  86. PRBucFan Says:

“Your a punk bitch and I hope freeman balls out like a mf an sticks up the bucs arssssssss”

It’s official, your a tool and most likely a child.

LoL, It’s impossible to take your serious any longer.

    Ahahahaha

  87. PRBucFan Says:

He’s accountable for W’s and L’s and without W’s he doesn’t deserve to keep the job.

That’s as far as it goes for me.

Until I am actually able to definitively see the source of the smoke I won’t take a guess based on other peoples guesses as to who or what that source is.

Eventually the truth will come out on all these claims, I will wait till than.

  88. Bobby Says:

Of course Freeman is talented. Haven’t you ever heard the saying “The streets are full of talented derelicts”? Talent means nothing. Ryan Leaf was talented. Vince Young was talented. Most people that get drafted are ‘talented’ or they wouldn’t get drafted. It’s about what you do with the talent on a consistent basis and with a QB it’s about leadership. Nothing overcomes persistence and hard work but at some point you also have to be able to mature at what you do and Freeman did NOT. I don’t believe Freeman has the leadership qualities to be a consistent NFL QB. It has nothing to do with talent.
Some people get paid and it’s ‘game over’ for them.

  89. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @PRBucFan,

Normally, I would totally take your side on this. For example, I always dismissed the rumor the Raheem was partying with his players. However, with Schiano it’s just too many things to dismiss. Too many separate cases. I’m all for giving people the benefit of the doubt, I really am. I almost always give too much benefit. However, there’s just too much evidence against Schiano to believe he’s innocent. I haven’t seen this much evidence against someone since the OJ case. There comes a point where you just have to take off your red and pewter glasses and see the truth. I mean, what is it going to take for you to realize that Schiano is the problem? Is it more losses? Is it more players coming out and blasting him? Is it more micromanaging stories? Is it more talking in third person saying that he is the savior of the franchise? Do we need another player scandal to convince you? Should we fire Dominik, rebuild a team with his guys, and then have him lose? If we fire all the non-Rutgers assistants and then fill their positions with Rutgers assistants, then lose – would that convince you? I just don’t get what else you could be waiting for.

  90. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Or is there just absolutely nothing that could happen that is going to convince you? You are really going to wait until it all comes out on a spreadsheet?

  91. sharkcoasttactical.com Says:

Tis unwise and unprofessional to speak poorly of past employers. Especially ones that made you a millionaire. Chidi called this kid out years ago on his character and I said on here over 2 years ago that he acted like he had one of those problems indicative to the South Tampa area. That being said, the Bucs did him wrong and look like tools from top to bottom this season. The kicker mersa fiasco? Leaking his medical info etc etc. The Glazers should have never let that offense become implemented. (Yes, lets try an offense that doesn’t play to our franchise guy’s strengths and never won crap at Rutgers! BRILLIANT!) It is a commander’s responsibility to use his assets according to their strengths. Can you imagine if Eisenhower told Patton he couldn’t go fast with his tanks? Watch Josh Blow it up this season with the Vikings. Watch how someone gets their shit together when you tell them they cant do something any longer.

  92. Capt. Tim Says:

    Bobby,
    You could be right.
I think Freeman knew that Schianos offense doesn’t work- and that caused the issues.
Schiano has stated that he told Freeman not to attend some meetings.
I think he told Freeman, and not the team.
That’s what I think of him, based on reports from numerous other NFL GMs.

I could be wrong. But every story/ interview , plus watching how the players are dropping dimes on him, makes me think I’m right.
    Time will tell

  93. PRBucFan Says:

Time will tell as Cap said, claim up claim upon claim doesn’t change that in the end they are just claims.

The truth will outlast the lie.

Indeed, I will wait and see and what remains will indeed be the undeniable truth.

This team was losing before Schiano got here as well, he may be part of the current problem but there is more that needs to be fixed than just Schiano.

I am of the belief that one part of the problem was our QB and now he’s gone.

With or without Schiano IMO that needed to happen in order for us to be able to start moving in the right direction.

It may be Glennon, it may not be, but we would have never even started the process of searching if we were STILL stuck on Freeman. But he made that decision crystal clear for us this season as an organization.

  94. sunshineben Says:

Free only had 2 guys to throw the ball to under Schiano. Now the coach is trying to add a 3rd receiver and tight end after Free left and he has his qb who has no mobility . SCHIANO NEEDS TO BE GONE !!! and yes ,I have season kts

  95. Bobby Says:

@Capt Tim….If Freeman knew that Schiano’s offense didn’t work (I believe it’s Sully’s offense) than why is it that for 6 games last year he was the best QB in the NFL with it?? How did he set franchise records with it? How did we end up with a top ten offense with it?? The offense will work when the players, and that includes the QB, execute the plays.

  96. Hawaiian Buc Says:

You are a very patient person, and I hope you are right, because if you aren’t, this team is going to get torn apart. We will lose good players we already have, as well as players we want to bring in.

  97. SSG Mike Says:

A little out of context here Joe. Read multiple articles that had lots of quotes from Freeman this week. Sounded, in context, like he was sounding off confidence in his new organization with a friendly little jab at what no one has confidence in, his old organization. Lately Joe has been playing BS in some of his articles. Let’s face it, the Bucs suck right now and it has a lot to do with coaching and the organization. I didn’t want them to draft Free but moreover I really didn’t like the hire of Schiano. I will always root for my Bucs and even where my throwback hat around the camp here in Afghanistan, with plenty of shit taken for it. Time for the Glazers to pony up for a real coach like they did the first two times during there tenure in Tampa. One with NFL potential, like Dungy, or a proven winner, like Gruden. Time to do what it takes to get us back in the hunt. Just get it done. Go Bucs!

  98. coach80m Says:

Harry, what are these seriously illegal drugs you are referring to? Sort of slanderous isn’t it? Adderal and ritalin are illegal? Where do some of you people get this information?

  99. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @Bobby,

First of all, it’s not Sullivan’s offense. Look at how many tight formations, 2 tight end sets, and 1 receiver sets we do. These are all staples of the mighty Rutgers offense.

Freeman did well with it probably because most DC’s weren’t alive when that type of offense was last used. They didn’t have to defend the tight end or check down routes, because there wasn’t any. We just had 2 or 3 guys going deep every play. We just so happen to have 2 receivers that are great at jump balls, and they inflated the numbers (especially against teams with weaker defenses, which we faced a lot of early in the season). However, what happened when DC’s figured it out and started bringing pressure because these deep routes need a tremendous amount of time to develop? Oh yeah, we got stuffed. What happened when we played a team like Denver with a CB that was able to contain Jackson? We went nowhere. Our offense was nearly as bad at the end of the season as it is now.

We set a lot of offensive franchise records. That is true. We also gave up a lot of franchise record worsts on defense. When you can’t stop anyone else, you are going to air it out more than you would if we were stopping people. And to be clear, it’s not like we’ve ever had a great offense and we broke the 2008 Patriots numbers. Last year Freeman barely threw for 4000 yards, and he was the first QB in our history to do so. Brees throws for 4000 by November. Throwing for 4000 yards isn’t all that great when compared to the rest of the league. We didn’t set the world on fire on offense as many would like to believe. You really need to put things in perspective.

  100. coach80m Says:

For those of you who live in Tampa Bay, it must be embarrassing to have this clown represent your community and your team. Outside of outlandish money, why would anybody want to live, or play in Tampa Bay. This clown lost me last year in the first game with bum rushing the kneel downs. In addition, his lack of control on the sidelines is withering. Remember how the replacement officials last year depicted him. Typical bullying of people caught in a very difficult situation. Is it possible that some of the regular officials may be biased towards the Bucs. I only hope that Freeman plays well to show up this despicable bully. Look at the other effective players we have lost.

By the way some posters have made a statement about Freeman not showing leadership. Could you please give some specific examples?

  101. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Eleven Qb’s threw for over 4000 yards last year. Twelve threw for over 25 TD’s. Seriously, think about that. All those guys would have broken franchise records. That’s just last year.

  102. PRBucFan Says:

    Goodnight fellas.

  103. MadMax Says:

    @coachm80

I took time to respond to you here

and I asked for a response which you are ignoring…..

  104. MadMax Says:

    Exactly Hawaiian!!

  105. MadMax Says:

Im glad I have a night off from work this week…..

Man, to be in the NFL must be something. Getting paid even after you’re cut or you under perform. Not knocking on injured guys, its an injury! But the ones guaranteed the big $$ regardless of how hard they work at earning it….smdh!

Thinking the same thing about GM’s and HC/OC/DC!

  106. Capt. Tim Says:

Pretty strange that we pay guys to play a game millions of dollars. And as we’ve seen, some of whom are basically bad people, with bad character.

Yet most of them make more than Heart surgeons, Etc.
Men who may save dozens of peoples lives every week

    Odd.
But the way the Comish Godell keeps changing fundamentals of the game, it will probably start fading in popularity soon.
