MRSA Mess Running Deeper

October 6th, 2013

The nasty staph infection known as “MRSA” cost the Bucs their second kicker of the season, Lawrence Tynes, and knocked All-Pro guard Carl Nicks out for a few weeks.

(Hey, with better kicking and better line O-line play, the Bucs might be 3-1.)

Tynes, as has been reported previously, feels jilted because the Bucs put him on a non-football-injury list, which hurts his potential retirement pay. Tynes is fighting the designation. As part of that official grievance, per Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, Tynes and/or the player’s union alleged three additional Buccaneers players contracted a MRSA infection and a training staff member was infected before players arrived in July.

Furthermore, the NFLPA claims that at least three other Bucs players contacted staph infections around the time Tynes got MRSA, and the union continues to investigate whether a member of the Bucs’ training staff was being treated for MRSA as players were reporting to camp.

Joe won’t speculate what Bucs were the others allegedly affected by MRSA, and when and to what degree they might have been infected. You can click through above to learn more.

Joe really never had much deep interest in the MRSA mess; it’s a very unfortunate illness, and it’s unfortunate that Tynes and his employer are in a state of unrest. However, in light of the Josh Freeman scandal surrounding the release of some of his medical records in the confidential NFL substance abuse program, Joe is a lot more interested in how this MRSA mess turns out.

From the Owners all the way down to the JANITOR.. this team is an abortion.

I don’t buy it at all. Period.

Not that it matters. The Bucs did what they had to do.

Tynes had it first, and he had it when he arrived. Do the math.

And why wouldn’t Jason name the players? Afterall, we all know the media won’t hesitate to release personal medical info on players, right?

  3. Tampabaybuctfan Says:

I don’t buy it either….I also don’t blame Tynes for giving it a shot….doesn’t cost him anyting and he may get some sort of settlement.
I’m waiting for another Amanda tweet….Hey, Amanda….you out there?….how ’bout another sweet tweet….

  4. Pewter Bullion Says:

So the trainer Todd Toriscelli brought in MRSA and spread the “love” around to different players eh???

If I was a free agent, I would feel very excited about joining a team whose trainers have a “bag of goodies” waiting for me.

Gee whiz, just when you think the saga is over – it’s only just begun…

Walking through One Buc Place must be like walking through a “haunted house”…

… You never know when MRSA is going to jump out and “getcha”!

It gives a whole new meaning to the flag flying over one buc place: DANGER!!!

  7. Couch Fan Says:

Funny how this is just an accusation but the haters use it as fact. Laughable.

  8. Jbeachbuc Says:

Hmmmm. Wonder if coach is the cheating/dirty scoundrel his idol buddy Belicheat is.

  9. Pewter Bullion Says:

    @Jose

No, Schiano is NOT responsible for MRSA.

Schiano is responsible for bringing his mediocre resume, spy cameras, and pre-historic game-planning…

He is also responsible for being power-hungry, having no real-world self-awareness (remember “this team was a laughing stock before I got here” ???), and can’t make game adjustments to save his own life…

Schiano is responsible for 0-4 with the best talent on roster (Offense and Defense) the Bucs might have ever seen…

Schiano is detail-oriented – to bad his “details” consist of what players do on the sideline as opposed to the X’s & O’s…

Schiano can’t even coach a fish to breathe through its gills – but he WILL accept the credit for it if the fish does it successfully.

Schiano is not responsible for MRSA. In the Three-Ring-Circus of the Buc franchise, MRSA is in “Ring 3″…

… But Schiano is the Ring-Master, and Head-CLOWN…

why not sue Taco Bell….MRSA….is everywhere…most of the time….

That’s a good call Pewter Bullion. Unfortunately, that’s dead on.

Today the Buccaneers tomorrow the WORLD…HA,HA,HA…

  13. RCS Says:

Hahahaha, The NFLPA and Tymes are just copying Freeman’s camp by putting that part about Schiano in the complaint. They know if his name is anywhere in there the media and “fans” will automatically bash Schiano (just like some have already done here)
