Freeman Would Have Beaten Desert Rats

October 1st, 2013

All-around good guy and the executive producer of “Schein on Sports,” heard exclusively on SiriusXM Radio, Nick Kostos, has a weekly Monday morning vlog on the SiriusXM website where he discusses the previous day’s games in a series called “Monday Morning WTF.” In this episode, Kostos makes the case that the benching of Bucs franchise quarterback Josh Freeman cost the Bucs a win over the Desert Rats.

    Fire greg schiano

  2. Natenazty Says:

Maybe Josh could have won that game, but then Schiano would have been placed in a situation where he would be pressured into keeping a QB on the field that he doesn’t even want on the team. I’m sure he remembers the Tim Tebow in Denver situation that back-fired on that organization. They thought Tebow would dig his own grave and he won and the fans loved him… Schiano couldn’t afford to have Josh get credit for winning a game. He would not have as much justification to bench him and down the road this offseason, there’s no Peyton Manning available to quell the potential outrage of fans, if a change was made after Josh got hot.

  3. Young buc Says:

    Walk the plank lol
Put him in front of the canon

  4. ShutTheBucUp Says:

Josh was a key contributor to the 0-3 start, and the epic tailspin down the stretch last season when we were in the hunt for a playoff spot. Did we magically forget this all of a sudden? Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Football is becoming an after-school drama. Yeah, fire Schiano, let all of our great players find other teams to win for, and we can wallow in the basement and forever be the punchline of the NFL.

  5. Raphael Says:

Funny I said the same thing , if our defense didn’t lose two games in the last minute , we would be 3-1 …

    Please fire SCHIANO

  6. blackmagic00 Says:

Coulda woulda shoulda. Doesn’t matter anymore.

  7. lightningbuc Says:

If grandma had balls, she’d be grandpa

  8. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Maybe so…..but if he did…we would have had to keep him & he would have performed sometimes & sometimes not.
This was our way of moving on from Freeman…
Here are the Advantages & Disadvantages to Benching Freeman
    Advantage:
    Possible Trade
Opportunity to develop Glennon to see what we have before off season.
    Disadvantage:
A coule of possible wins…(worse draft pick)

  9. bucrightoff Says:

Our offense is the worst in the league, none of our loses are on the defense despite what Freemanites want. Hindsight is nice but we should have offered Freeman for Brian Hoyer straight up before the season. We’d be 4-0 or 3-1 with Hoyer as QB.

  10. mvermulm Says:

Raphael, the defense didn’t lose the games; the offense failed to win them. You can’t expect the defense to hold teams to 10 pts in today’s NFL. It’s funny how Free’s camp is now pressuring the Bucs to release him so he can collect his money and go play wherever he wants. Personally, I don’t care what they decide to do, but I have this weird feeling that Free’s camp is behind all of this crap that has come out the last couple weeks. He hasn’t made a single attempt to make amends with the organization, and has only distanced himself further every day. Just get rid of him somehow and move on. If the team doesn’t improve after that, or if Schiano is found to be a culprit of the release of this info lately, then he can go as well.

  11. Elijah Says:

He hit the nail right on the head. Glennon did not give us the best chance to win like Gen. Heinrich Himmler said he would.

  12. Young buc Says:

    Hoyer lol schiano would
    Handcuff peyton

  13. JonBuc Says:

A big difference between The Ray Perkins Debacle ( at least he won in college at a SEC school ) and now the Greg Schiano Shat Show is the advent of electronic and social media in the past 25 years. Great sites like this one, PFT and others are everywhere vs the fishwraps only and perhaps local radio of yesteryear. There’s so much more information and fan outrage put out in the mainstream. There’s no way Schiano survives this….why let this toxicity continue. This is a good roster…there are solid building blocks in place. Promote Dave Wannstedt as interim ( would probably keep Revis happy at least…for better or worse, the Bucs have made and paid him as our franchise player) and start a new coaching and probable GM search now.

  14. King Couch Fan Says:

It amazes me that people would rather go through another 5 years of Freeman’s crap play and another rebuild rather than benching that garbage QB and giving the coach a chance with his guy… Absolutely amazing.

  15. Elijah Says:

Had General Himmler not watered down the play call for MG8 and kept it at least at the same level of sophistication JF5 was at, we might have won that game. As a result I think JF5 would have gotten the victory. This WOP is in way over his head and he cost us a game that would have at least quieted things down some. Fire Schiano!!!

  16. mvermulm Says:

Jonbuc, it’d be difficult to keep a Schiano guy as the interim coach. The only non-Schiano guys on that staff are the coordinators. Sheridan has said he isn’t coaching his own defense, and he doesn’t seem to like that; and Sully wasn’t Schiano’s first choice. Neither of those guys seem to be ready to take the HC role at the moment though. Disaster.

  17. Elijah Says:

bet Sully would. Hell he was interviewing last season for a HC position^^^^

  18. Elijah Says:

I think whats amazing is that you’ve been on a personal campaign all summer to blow up this team. YOU ARE A HYPOCRITE!!! LMAO

  19. King Couch Fan Says:

You must be on the same stuff Freeman is Elijah.

Only thing I’ve said all summer is that Freeman had to go. Blowing up the team? No. Thats just you talking out of your @ss…. like usual.

  20. Washington DC Says:

    SURE KEEP THINKING THAT.

  21. Mr. Patrick Says:

Nope, sorry, at this point Freeman doesn’t give any team “the best chance to win” And saying that a rookie had the same results as a QB who has been in the league for 5 years really says something about that.

  22. Walter Says:

But Mike Glennon gives us the best chance to win now!!!

    Haha

  23. snookau Says:

Dumb video. Glennon wouldve beaten the Jets and Saints.

Prove me wrong! You can’t. What a tool this guy is.

  24. Elijah Says:

You are an idiot. He couldn’t beat the lowly Cards with a banged up defense.

  25. bucrightoff Says:

Holy crap if the Cards are lowly what does that make the Bucs?

  26. Elijah Says:

    You answer that #1 fan?^^^^

  27. Brian Dorry Says:

    Completely agree.

  28. mvermulm Says:

Sully was interviewing because his offense had one good season. That does not make him a great head coach, just like being a good QB coach doesn’t ensure him yearly success as an OC (as we are now finding out). In my opinion, Schiano isn’t the issue here. The defense is playing like a completely new unit than last year, and the offense made zero adjustments from last year. The locker room has been a mess, and that has been mostly because of this Freeman garbage. Once he is gone and this is behind the team, that will be addition by subtraction.

  29. Young-buc_361 Says:

No player is going to get behind Schiano and as for the Defense playing better then last year is not cause of Schiano. Think about it Revis, goldson, banks, healthy Claiborne is the reason for that, (fire Schaino)

  30. Bobby Says:

Geez….one could make the argument that fans have brains the size of walnuts. Keep Freeman???? Fire Schiano???? These are your answers huh?
Like I said, there’s a reason the Glazers are Billionaires. They will NOT fire Schiano. They are smart enough to know that all Schiano needs is time to actually get his players in place and one of those players included a QB. I don’t think Schiano knows whether Glennon is the answer but he’s going to find out. If he’s not then we’ll be getting a QB in the draft next year and there’s some good ones coming out.

If anyone is going to go it will probably be Mike Sullivan. I would lobby for that. I don’t like his offensive scheme and I think he is very unimaginative. It’s so funny because the same fans that were saing we’d go 4-12 or 6-10 are the ones bitching now because their predictions seem to be coming true. If you thought they were gonna lose then why are you crying because they are??? Anybody who doesn’t have their self esteem wrapped up in whether the Bucs win or lose and can be objective can see a lot of good things shaping up with this team. We’ll get there and when we do we’ll be there for awhile.

  31. Elijah Says:

Keep Freeman? Wasn’t that your mantra? ^^^^^

  32. Bobby Says:

I’m smart enough to know when enough is enough and I’m man enough to say I was wrong about Freeman. Why is that so hard for the rest of you?

  33. BucDan Says:

Same here Bobby. Nice breakdown. Great point on the loser predictions and the whining when it actually started happening.

  34. PRBucFan Says:

Lol oh yeah how convenient he would have won???

    REALLY???

Lol what on earth would give us that impression… all the L’s he’s had recently???
