Earnest Graham Foresees Freeman Benching

September 22nd, 2013

earnest graham

It is only a few hours after the Bucs’ ugly loss at New England. Ugly if one is to believe the Bucs were somehow New England’s equal.

In the final moments of watching Bucs franchise quarterback Josh Freeman huff puff and struggle to get a first down in the first half, much less a touchdown, one of his former teammates all but suggested it’s time for the Bucs to turn the page on their starting quarterback.

And that would be all-around good guy Earnest Graham. The former Bucs all-everything kind of running back felt the frustration of many Bucs fans and Twittered the end is near for the Josh Freeman Era in Tampa Bay.

@EarnestGraham: Josh surely has been a good player at times, and still can be but I don’t know how he starts after bye week, just knowing how this biz is.

Graham clarified his statements to say he likes Freeman but the NFL is a win-now league and Freeman’s win-loss record clearly shows a quarterback who is circling the drain.

It doesn’t do much for a quarterback’s job security when he is 4-13 in his last 17 road starts, which is embarrassing, and is currently the worst quarterback in the league in completion percentage.

Joe, however, is convinced that Freeman won’t be benched. The season is over as far as playoffs. That’s done. Period. It’s all about the draft position and people’s jobs right now. Schiano certainly must be feeling the heat, at least a little; he is not a naive man.

Today, with the Bucs clearly out of the game, Schiano chose to stick with Freeman even though he could have gotten Mike Glennon valuable snaps. Schiano later said replacing Freeman never crossed his mind.

That tells Joe Schiano will ride Freeman to the bitter end of the 2013 season.

LOL Comment of the football season so far!

  3. Raphael Says:

We will be a lot worse if that happens ….

Steelers look bad, wonder if they will bench Rothlisberger ? Hmmm

  4. MakaveliTheDon Says:

Wow, Sherlock Graham. I was a Freemanite, and even I know that he’s not gonna last after next week, win or lose….. Unless the Glazers step in and do something drastic. (Fire Schia-oh-no, Sully to Interim HC!) Then start Glennon, whatever! Fck you!

I love ya Graham, but come on! Youre reporting last weeks news!

  5. bucrightoff Says:

Can Glennon be any worse is the better question. Glennon can get us 46% completion and a brutal mistake a game I’m sure. Freeman has no confidence and has regressed at an alarming rate since the 6-4 start last year.

  6. lightningbuc Says:

Don’t ignore your sinkhole…or your crappy QB!

  7. Jacko101 Says:

Yo Rahael, I’m just as big of Freeman fan as you, and I don’t think Glennon is nearly as talented. But it’s about that time To really think about moving on from Dom, Schiano and Free.

  8. gotbbucs Says:

Schiano isn’t the type to bench a QB in the middle or end of a game. That’s a decision that he will analyze and then over-analyze throughout the week. I could see it happening mid-way through next week if things aren’t going well in the Cardinals game, but it will be something that he and Dominik have come to a decision about this week.

Either way, Freeman’s future in Tampa is all but signed and sealed.

  9. MTM Says:

The Bucs will win just enough to get a mid first round pick and be assured all good QB’s have been taken. Plus they will keep Glennon and act like there is a 3 year window to figure out if he is worthy. Rinse and repeat Glazers. Graham is just stating obvious. Go Gator!

Did I miss the time when Freeman won two Super Bowls? Pull your head out of your rear end.

Hey joe what happens to schiano if the team goes 0-16?? Does the head coach and Gm both get fired??

  13. 911bucs Says:

    Raphael,
Big Ben is a consistent QB.

  14. Raphael Says:

Gotbbucs…..did you miss the 26 offensive plays and 6 to and 2 tds ….you stupid dipspit

  15. Raphael Says:

Actually they are 0-2 down by 14 and the offense looks the same as the bucs .

  16. Rickster Says:

Ben has proven to be a champion and clutch in Pittsburgh. Stfu with the comparing already.
Anyway, I see it Like this, the cards are a lower tier team at and completely beatable by our struggling bucs. Nola, and the pats are playoff teams and would be tough to pull out wins there anyway. Now, the jets loss was terrible because that’s a team that we should have beat. The same thing with the cards, on paper we are way better than the cards. The bucs pulling out a win should be automatic, at home no less. Free loses this one, it’s a guaranteed benching and the last time we see him under center. He wins, he may keep his job at least till the end of the season.
    Just my opinion…

  17. Robbie_G Says:

Can NOT compare a guy with 2 rings to Freeman. Give Big Ben the following: Doug Martin, V Jax and M Williams, this O line, and a D that is younger and getting better and see what would happen.

  18. buc4life24 Says:

It SHOULD happen next sunday at home against a struggling team. Then use the bye week to watch tape, learn and get reps with the 1st teamers! Then we see what we have in Glennon! Its time!

  19. OviedoBucsFan Says:

The other two Florida teams today showed heart and fight in their games today. Miami overcame and got a win, Jax game was over by halftime but they played hard to the end. We just rolled over at the end of todays game. Our half time adjustments was step backwards and lie down. This team is in dissaray and starts and ends with Schiano.

  20. Raphael Says:

    Lmao at Glennon playing soon

  21. Illuminati Says:

If Glennon doesn’t get the start against the Cards, this team is truly sunk. No right-minded person would start Freeman again.

Except, of course, for another team.

  22. Raphael Says:

While I am at it…lmao at paying Revis 1 million a game to play zone coverage …. What a joke if I was Josh, I would say go ahead and play Glennon ….you poor bastards !

  23. OviedoBucsFan Says:

I hope you are right rickster, I attend three games a year and Sunday vs Arizona is the first one. I was looking forward to the Monday night game but Miami is looking good. The thursday night game vs Carolina (The way they destroyed the giants) aint looking good either. I hope they get things figured out in time, hopefully the injuries today are not too serious. GO BUCS!

  24. Raphael Says:

We lose to the cards and Schiano will be fired

  25. SteveK (MGM) Says:

    Raphael,

Freeman will be benched after the bye week, with another subpar performance next week.

  26. Ed Says:

Playing Freeman to the end of the season is a very bad idea. If David Price gave up 8 runs in 3 innings he’d be pulled by Madden. When your starting QB has the worst numbers of starters in he league and you are last in offense you really don’t have any choice other than Shake things up. This is desperation time in Tampa. There will be no one in the seats at Ray Jay if this horrible offense continues to be held back by Freeman’s indecisiveness through another 13 games. The fan base is devastated by this mess.

  27. bucrightoff Says:

The Glazers are not firing Schiano 20 games into his 80 games contract. The same people who think they’re cheap think they’re going to eat a huge deal?

  28. Lefty Says:

Why on earth would you stick Glennon into today’s fiasco? Game already out of hand, Pats D has their ears pinned back, and the Rook would be working with a depleted wide receiving corps? VJ not even an option & MW at half speed at best does not present a real desirable environment for Napoleon D’s inauguration into the League..

  29. Raphael Says:

It’s bobby Petrino all over again , but at least Schiano is not a quitter

  30. Eric Says:

Hard to say, everyone is numb at the ineptitude.

I expected it, but nothing really prepares you.

  31. Raphael Says:

Lefty ….. They won’t listen, they are too emotional right now.

  32. Joe Says:

@BucRightOff — The Glazers ate a much bigger contract after they fired Gruden after consecutive 9-7 seasons.

  33. Desanova Says:

It’s a matter of time and it should be this week. I did a quick survey of all other starting QBs in the league asking which teams starting QBs would I prefer Freeman to.

My answer is Oakland and MAYBE the Cleveland QBs and MAYBE Minnesota. (No, not Jacksonville – Henne).

I realize the option is not any other QB, it’s Glennon, but it’s time to turn the page.

    And bring Dimke back.

    And right out the Bucs front door… Hopefully the next HC and starting QB will be of NFL quality this next go around! {UGH!}

30+ years of this same type issues… This must be what people mean by the “Buc way” or it’s a “Bucs life”!

@BucRightOff — The Glazers ate a much bigger contract after they fired Gruden after consecutive 9-7 seasons.

All the more reason they don’t want to eat another one.

  37. Illuminati Says:

Glennon will start against the Cardinals.

He will not lock onto one receiver, he will go through his reads, he will lead defenders with his eyes, he will find the open man, he will work the middle of the field, he will throw receivers open, he will drop passes right over the receiver’s shoulder in stride.

In short, he will do all the things a pro QB should do, which is all the things Josh Freeman doesn’t do.

He will also make some incredibly stupid decisions, and throw a pick or two. He will make the same mistakes Freeman makes, but Glennon will actually offset those mistakes with overall superior play.

    It’s Glennon time.

  38. chris Says:

I really think Schiano is going to make a great NFL head coach. He has all the knowledge and skill and tutledge from the mastermind himself. Unfortunately, it may take him one fail to learn and adapt in this league.

He’s learning, but it might take time. He’s done a great job, but unfortunately, he has an incompetent QB, GM, and didn’t initially get the staff he wanted at first hire with limited choices. Both Sully and Sheridan were CHoices #3 each.

  39. TampaTony Says:

We will see Glennan after the bye. I am excited about Glennan he has serious potential and has actually won some big games in college something Freeman has never done in college or pros. Glennan will be alright he has a accurate strong arm and he sounds like a NFL qb and a winner when he speaks. He will make some bad decisions but I think with the talent on this team they can overcome it and will actually score atleast one TD per game. The kid at one time was considered to be the best QB in the draft until everybody got a boner for the pistol offense. Mel Kiper had him as a first rounder at one point. Alot of scouts like his potential. I think he might surprise some people. Maybe not but atleast we have something to be optimistic about we already know Freeman isn’t going to get it done.

I do think Freeman may be successful but not with the Bucs and not anytime soon. I think he needs to mature and ride the pine for awhile on another team and watch how another starting QB handles the pressure of carrying a franchise.

  40. Lefty Says:

I endorse starting Napoleon vs. the Cards, why wouldn’t you? If Freeman is so so vs. Arizona (Lord knows he’s not completing better than a 60% clip – as that just ain’t him), and the Bucs win, then what? Hell, they could’ve very well won their first two games with Free having a sub 50 completion percentage..in other words it would’ve been victory in spite of Josh’s efficiency – which has been the story of his career…bottom line is he’s a loser, plain and simple.

  41. Brewmaster Says:

This team is in turmoil for numerous reasons, not just the QB. Start with th HC and OC then a sieve of an Opine. As far as starting Napolean Dynamite at QB: It doesn’t matter. He ducks as well. There are a few good QBs coming out of college so Freeman ail be gone as well as Schiano and Dominick. It’s Ugly and only going to get uglier.

  42. Raphael Says:

    Illuminati …….lolololol ! Your funny.

  43. Tnew Says:

There is one person in Tampa with faith in Freeman, and his name is not even Josh Freeman….unless Josh Freeman is Raphael……hmmmm. Seriously, last week I wasn’t ready for Glennon, but I’ve moved firmly to the fence. I am straddling. I wanted the Freeman thing to work but he is in year 5. Watching Ben and Cutler play, two now upper mid level guys playing..The difference is amazing. Has Freeman ever had good coaching, maybe not. If Gruden was the coach here, Freeman wouldn’t have made it this far. That I do know. Thing is, if Schiano wants to keep his job, he’s gonna have to make a huge decision. Keep doing the same old with Freeman (approaching insanity) or make a change to the rookie Glennon (crazy) I dunno

  44. Adam L. Says:

Bring Chucky back. He lives in AVILA right off of 41. He has an office here in Tampa. You’re giving him Jackson, Martin, Freeman, Glennon and a defense that’s leading the league in SACKS.

    SOUND FAMILIAR?

SOUND LIKE A RECIPE FOR SUCCESS?

  45. MakaveliTheDon Says:

    @Raph

Im as much a believer in Freeman as you. I saw the drops. I saw our defensive collapse. But you gotta take into account the politics within the game. The majority, obviously want a change. So like I said weeks ago, as TonyTwoCents, Freeman is the sacrificial lamb. So if you can forsee it, then its not as big a blow when it happens. Butme personally, I wanna see Schiano go down with him for stirring sht up in the first place. He acts like his sht doesnt stink, but what has he done??? His players dont respect him! His defense played balls to the wall because they were alongside Goldson and Revis. Those two cats alone have more pull than the HC. Hell! They have enough pull to get that man fired!!

But thats another story. Lets just wish Freeman well on his next chapter.

  46. TampaTony Says:

I can’t believe some people still want to keep giving Freeman chances because of one year of great play… Makes no sense. I mean I guess we could go Michael Clayton with him. Same thing Michael Clayton had one great year and then 4 awful years and it was all the coaches fault and when they changed coaches it worked out great…. Oh Wait…

  47. Eric Says:

Chucky would explode in five minutes with Freeman.

Would be fun to watch though. He’d probably play the third string QB, who would do better than Free.

  48. Tnew Says:

Unfortunately I feel like Glennon is the next Chris Simms..

  49. Illuminati Says:

    GLENNON = WINNIN’

  50. Lefty Says:

The recipe to succeed for Glennon is there..he has large talons so as to handle the ball.. Further, the family bloodlines are there. His Uncle Rico has an arm of legendary status in the upper mid-west…

  51. Raphael Says:

Makaveli …. I am good either way ….. But anybody who thinks Glennon would be better at this point just doesn’t know Football … That’s a fact.

I fly out of the country in the morning, can’t wait ?

  52. bucrightoff Says:

It’s amazing to me that 2010 Josh Freeman can outweigh 2011, 2012 and now 2013 Josh Freeman. He hasn’t shown any growth whatsoever in that time. I do not see where he starts next year, teams will draft guys.

  53. Harry Says:

I feel a little bad for Free, as I am sure Ernest does. But it is time. Joe, you can’t put Glennon in there with out recent snaps with the 1st team – you want hime to have every opportunity to succeed. And, even more important, you want to know what you have in Glennon going into next year – there is no way he does not get snaps this year unless one believes Free turns into Brady next week. So, after the break is perfect. Glennon gets 2 weeks of snaps during the break with starters, he plays at home that game (so nice comfortable surroundings) and it is against the plummeting Eagles, I believe. By then we are likely 0-4, maybe 1-3 (not being negative, I just don’t see Free pulling his head out of his a$$ under these conditions – it would be mentally tough for anyone). At that point, what do the Bucs have to loose?

  54. MakaveliTheDon Says:

    @Rickster

stfu with your paper analysis. on paper, we should have annihilated the Jets. you dont know shit any more than our HC. and even if we win, it’ll be Free’s last game and the continuation of our rebuilding…..year 6 of that shit.

  55. MakaveliTheDon Says:

  59. buc4lyfe Says:

graham got the boot because he was injured and old…

make up your mind which is it, we put in glennon and he becomes the leader we need at quarterback or we put in glennon and tank on the season?

i guess were forgetting that freeman barely played in the preseason, MIKE GLENNON had every opportunity you could possibly have at taking over the starting job but he didnt PLUS we kept dan orlovsky….You cant see for lookin, we arent wasting a roster spot on 3 qb’s because glennon is the answer.

I know exactly why glennon wont play until the end of the season, if he gets out there and he’s not ready like he would have to be…thats a busted/wasted pick for a quarterback and it will definitely get schiano fired if he goes out the and stinks it up!!! when freeman was inserted as a rookie, all the veteran qb’s were given a chance first and when freeman came in he came in a big way by leading a comeback against green bay packers…with the game clearly out of reach he still sat the bench people…WAKE UP

  60. tampa2 Says:

Raphael – Everybody hates you. Including your mom for not helping with rent. I would hate to see what your basement looks like. Probably a bunch of Josh Freeman posters everywhere like a total creeper. Your blind loyalty to someone who is terrible (and who you don’t even know) is borderline disturbing. You exhibit all the signs of a psychopath. A very stupid one.

  61. MakaveliTheDon Says:

    @Raph

I know how it is. Get away and enjoy yourself. Afterall, this is just a fucckin game! Where are you headed?? Have fun regardless tho.

  62. Bobby Says:

I think you’re totally wrong on that analysis Joe. It would have been hard to justify benching Freeman during that game. For the first 13 minutes of the game the offense was moving fairly well. We missed the first field goal and then drove 76 yards on the next possession only to stall out again and get 3 pts. That was 126 yards of offense in two drives most on Freeman throws. He clearly wasn’t the only one struggling and if you bring Glennon in you want a healthy Jackson and Williams. I look for Glennon to start after the bye unless some miraculous turnaround happens and we win the next two in blowouts or something. I don’t know what the problem is with the offense. I know the play calling sucks and nothing is in sync for long. I think it will be worse with Glennon but it is not working with Josh so lets see what Glennon has and then go after a good QB in next year’s draft that will be very deep in good QB’s.

  63. MakaveliTheDon Says:

tampa2 – suck your mothers left nut!

  64. Mark G Says:

@Joe I disagree. Buccs lose next week to AZ and it’s Freeman’s last game.

  65. MakaveliTheDon Says:

  66. Raphael Says:

  67. MakaveliTheDon Says:

@Mark, I agree. its Freemans last game…. win or lose.

  68. Illuminati Says:

  74. buc4lyfe Says:

    @TampaTony

Really? Josh freeman hasnt won any big games? his first ever game as a buc was against scrubs i guess, no comebacks wins in his resume…..New York Giants got beat by the panthers 38-0 so is that Eli’s fault or is it the Teams fault? he’s thrown more picks than freeman and they drafted a qb…do they expect him to turn it around? im sure they do. JBF loves controversy with these sorry posts…no mention of key touchdown drops, no mention of key third down drops, no mention of going for it on 4th down the rest of the game because the kicker missed two field goals in 3 games…no coach ever does that to a player or their team you give him a chance to redeem himself…schiano was the one who chose to make the stupid call to kick a field goal from almost midfield and give it back to breeze as if his schemes are superior. JBF your slippin by fueling qb problems just for hits on your site, you used to be about good journalism, now your all about web hits to your page?

  75. Raphael Says:

    Tampa2 …I forgot .. Blow me

  76. Buc1987 Says:

    Raphael

Did you go by the username Bishop on a different site?

Anyway Raphael, it is not that I think Glennon will be better, I can clearly see that watching Josh in his fifth season is like watching a rookie. So we might as well see what we have in the rookie that is under contract for 3 more years. Josh is done in Tampa. Hopefully he can learn how to be a QB somewhere else. I wish him the best. 2010 was the exception not the rule.

Free the offense by Freeing the offense of Freeman.

ARE YOU FKING KIDDING ME? Rothlisberger is a 2 time super bowl champion and future hall of famer!!! Freeman can’t even get to the playoffs or complete 50% of his passes!! Raphael you are a Freeman ass kisser to the max.

  82. MakaveliTheDon Says:

well ’87, I gotta say, you’ll have your way after the AZ game. you’ll get to see your man MG.

but guess what? if hes wearing pewter and red, I’ll still support him.

  83. bucrightoff Says:

Raphael is gonna go all T.O. when Freeman gets benched.

  84. Buc1987 Says:

  89. Raphael Says:

Did you see the catch that at guy made in the end zone ? We had 2 drops today in the end zone.

For the record I am fine with Glennon starting and would root for him because I am a buc fan… It would not be pretty tho.

  90. Buc1987 Says:

Have sympathy for my pain Raphael.

  91. MakaveliTheDon Says:

well Bucrightoff and rdbucfan are Platinum members of the MGM Circle Jerk Luau. Whats on the menu this month?? Pork??? Again??

  92. buc4lyfe Says:

drop passes, slipping and falling down and throw away passes all count as incompletions as well as bad throws so to keep quoting his completion % doesnt begin to describe the problems the bucs have as a team S**t rolls down hill and picks up speed, it starts at the top and you fools think the glazers are blaming this awful season so far on freeman…they didnt spend any money on him, they spent it on players they paid big money to come in and make a difference. None of these free agent pickups have proved worth the money spent but i guess thats freeman’s fault that the coach cant get the players to play to their potential…all the rumors out there about the turmoil at one buc place are true, the comment last year about getting these college coaches out of here, all the rumors about mr. room temperature have to be true, last year we thought he was just tough but now you see what the real issue is……the best coach we had on staff PJ FLECK left first chance he got and look at the problems our wide receivers have…saints this year vs last year, THE COACH MATTERS

  93. Raphael Says:

    Makaveli….lmao !

  94. MakaveliTheDon Says:

  97. Raphael Says:

    Buc4lyfe ……… But..but … Glennon will fix all that stuff….. Lol ?

  112. TampaTony Says:

Lmao @ buc4lyfe I really hope that was a joke you cannot possibly be serious with that weak reply.

Last time I checked Elite Manning was pretty clutch in more than a few important games…. Two supbowl wins ring a bell… The dude has won a ton of games last I heard so yeah Im pretty sure they’re gonna ride it out with Eli!! lmfao!!!!! Freeman couldn’t carry Eli’s jockstrap. Im guessing you were one of the people that thought Shawn King was a great QB and led the bucs to the NFCCG huh…

  113. MakaveliTheDon Says:

cmon ’87. I dont want to start any drama with you, cause we used to be cool….. but you were practically the leader of the Freemanites.

we get it though. the AZ game is most likely his last as a buc,

  114. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @Raphael,

Brady made 2 horrible throws that were sure TD’s. But guess what he did: he came back and actually scored some points! What a concept, huh? Just because he had a couple drops doesn’t mean he’s any good. Do other QB’s not have drops in the NFL? It’s just unfortunate for us because we only get 2-3 good throws a game for Freeman, and they just so happened to be dropped today. However, what’s your excuse for the other 17 incompletions? I’m sure it wasn’t the fault of the great Freeman. It never is.

  115. Buc1987 Says:

tonymonatanatwocents….in 3 weeks or so I’ll be selling off my tickets at 1/2 price. IF I can get that. If Glennon is still in there in 2 weeks. The tickets will be sold until next season.

  116. MakaveliTheDon Says:

you better get that checked illuminati. haha

  117. MakaveliTheDon Says:

    or

Perhaps I’ll send an e-mail myself.

  119. Buc1987 Says:

*oops Freeman is still in there*

  120. Buc1987 Says:

I was watching the damn TV and saying good bed to the wife at the same time.

  121. Hawaiian Buc Says:

At this point, what’s the point in continuing to play Freeman? Is he just going to snap out of this 13 game slump and become a franchise QB? Highly unlikely. Playing Glennon sooner than later is a win win at this point. If he comes in and stinks it up (which is what I think will happen), then we know he’s not the answer and we can draft a QB or get one in Free Agency. It would also get us a high draft pick for next year. If he comes in and plays great, then maybe he is the answer and we have a 3rd round steal. Then we can concentrate on getting a slot WR or TE in the draft this year. Anything is better than watching Freeman stink it up. Freeman makes Tim Tebow look like an accurate passer.

  122. Buc1987 Says:

Everyone knows wtf I meant anyways.

  123. Danimal Says:

I have lost all faith,….. In joe’s football knowledge.

Another poor performance next week and he is done.
Schiano will make it till next season though.

  124. Buc1987 Says:

Thank the lord for e-bay. I sold the Freeman jersey on e-bay for $10.00. I lost $90.00 on it though. I had to get rid of it early, or else it will be worthless. Raphael you missed a helluva bargain.

You have nothing intelligent to say so you try to insult people’s families. I love how you think Schiano will get fired mid season and Sullivan will take his place as interim HC. All the while blaming Schiano for Josh being a terrible QB. When if you had any intelligence you would be able to figure out that Sullivan would be responsible for Josh’s terrible play not Schiano.

  128. Illuminati Says:

Glennon won’t “stink it up.” He just won’t be as good as you want him to be.

But he will still be better than Freeman.

  129. Buc1987 Says:

rdbucfan…yikes buddy. Sorry to hear about the family and all. That’s how he is though I guess. He liked to bring up my mom too. All over Sully becoming HC.

I’m steppin out of this now. You handled yourself just fine.

  130. buc4lyfe Says:

    @TampaTony

Is this the original one and only TampaTony? bro Bucs have never in their history had a quarterback worth talking about and i mentioned eli just so someone can say exactly what you said…..that was like 2 years ago with them backing into the playoffs with an average record then catching fire. All im saying is that superbowl team had superbowl talent on every level of offense and defense including coaching…no cornerbacks to speak of but the dominated up front

Some people are being fooled by stats like the bucs leading the league in sacks but who’s getting them? the linebackers, they have to blitz to manufacture pressure. all kinds of mistakes are being made….think michael bennett wasnt worth resigning? i bet because schiano didnt want a veteran with balls to challenge his ways?

  131. Buc1987 Says:

“I bet because schiano didnt want a veteran with balls to challenge his ways?”

buc4lyfe …Nor should he. Before Schiano Bennett was GARBAGE.

  132. Patrick Says:

    #FAILFORMANZIEL2014!!!!

  133. buc4lyfe Says:

if this is a what have you dont for me lately league then having a superbowl winning quarterback means the the giants should be dominating since all we need to win is a quarterback, yea i like freeman but i do think his time is up. but they drafted a dud by picking mike glennon in the 3rd. He’s sitting the bench and not helping us but a tight end could have done this offense justice. You cant draft glennon for the future and let him sit as if you think your jobs safe through this season. All the bad coaching and front office decisions, im just saying look at the total picture and stop saying were losing because of one person because giants have the same record as us WITH a superbowl quarterback

  134. rdbucfan Says:

    Buc4life

I believe 2 of the sacks today were on the DL. Wasn’t it Philadelphia that made a few NFC Championship games and the Superbowl living on pressure from blitzing?

  135. Buc1987 Says:

That’s all fine and dandy. Start Glennon.

  136. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Freeman could definitely use more weapons. There’s no doubt about that. However, he’s so bad at times that it wouldn’t matter if we had Calvin Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald, with Wes Welker in the slot. He can’t consistently make throws, especially anything under 15 yards. He is going to make ridiculously horrible throws that will be picked virtually every single game. He is absolutely horrible in the red zone (because he’s so inaccurate). His best throws are when he literally just throws the ball up and lets his receivers go get it.

  137. Buc1987 Says:

Start Glennon and prepare for the draft. That’s what the paper bag will say. Start Glennon 0-3.

  138. rdbucfan Says:

    Thanks 1987

  139. buc4lyfe Says:

    @Buc1987

REALLY DUDE? IF schiano made michael bennett career then whats wrong with the left defensive end position? why is no pressure coming from that side? Reports of veterans complaining about schiano’s ways and you say some dumb crap like that, are you related to schiano or something?

im not saying freeman isnt the problem im saying he’s not the only one and i want him benched so people that are watching the game with blinders on can see theres problems with playcalling and coaching….the bucs lost this game as soon as they started game planning for it, its weak every week and a coach thats never been a head coach or a player in the nfl just isnt what this team or freeman needed, IF a Coach like Lovie smith comes in and outs freeman or an offense coach then thats one thing but a rutgers dude that has one qb drafted in his entire time there? what the hell does he know about a quarterback on this level

  140. Buc1987 Says:

The team needs a spark. Is it Glennon? I don’t know but things are spiraling quickly.

  145. Buc1987 Says:

“I hope that’s wrong but things are starting to smell.”

I hope so too. Or it could be that the Pats just had 10 days off to rest and prepare. I saw Bill at a press conference around wed on NFL network. He was being asked questions by reporters. He said…well we gave the players the day off yesterday .

Rest and prepare. An already good QB T Br-ady had the day off Tuesday.

  200. Buc1987 Says:

    Later tony.

  201. BamBamBuc Says:

I agree with Graham, I see it coming as well, and have said it for the past week or so. Problem is, I don’t see it getting better if we bench Freeman. I keep hearing “he can’t be any worse than Josh”… well, that’s not really true, he could be. He could also be no better than Josh. It may be the scheme or play calls and he’ll have no better luck than Free. Or, he may be better, but just enough to win a few games, get people’s hopes up, get the team to pass on a top QB in the draft and leave us in QB hell for years to come. Of course, there’s also the chance he’ll be “lights out” and we have our answer. The odds of the last one are pretty minimal. Most likely is the third option, just good enough to pass on a QB next year and leave us with mediocre or worse for years to come.

So, I’m not gonna argue whether we should continue to play Josh or start Glennon. I think it’s pretty obvious the move will be made at some point. But I will argue that playing Glennon now very likely will put us in a difficult position next draft and we’ll likely lose out on a QB from a pretty good prospective class.

Freeman’s QB class wasn’t exactly considered very good. Other than Stafford, everyone else was thought of as mediocre. Glennon came from another mediocre (at best) draft class of QBs. When there are multiple top-flight QBs available in the draft, we never seem to be in position to get one. This year, we have a chance to play Freeman and if he turns it around have our guy already here, and if he doesn’t we’ll be in position to get “our guy” in a talented class. If we play Glennon, we’re likely stuck with a mediocre QB from a mediocre class until they give up and there’s nothing but a mediocre class to draft from.

I want the Bucs to win, and win now. I don’t want to Tank for Teddy. But I’d rather risk it with Freeman, good or bad, and know next draft if we need a guy like Bridgewater or not, because I don’t have faith that a 3rd round pick in a weak QB class is gonna be the savior.

  202. MakaveliTheDon Says:

no 87, I was saying I said that to rdbuc, not you!

  203. 76buc76 Says:

This was a team effort. It’s time…it’s time for Glennon. Freeman started so good. It looked like it all was coming together. Then the dreaded 2 quarter stall. Topped off with the allway’s popular Freeman (3rd down automatic checkdown). Or otherwise known… quiting. We’ve seen in past mail it in years. Not to say the rest of the team didn’t quit. They did but, what do you expect? When the offence may as well spike it on 3rd down. He threw some nice ball’s today. A catch here,a catch there. Maybe thing’s would have turned out different. But quiting is not an option. It’s rather sad..it is. 25yo big strong armed QB. He can’t scan the field. 1 read then if it’s not there move in the pocket and hope to find someone on the broken play. I seen a clip on pregame of William’s running free. Late in the 4th quarter vs Saint’s. That because Ryan said last year. He cut’s the field in half vs Freeman. Whatever way he look’s in his dropback. Glennon in, scale back the passing attack. It’s a crosser’s league now. Smurf’s are coming out of the woodwork (De Jackson,Avery,Royal. They have a little less fear. Subpar 3rd WR and NO TE will be hard to overcome.

  222. MakaveliTheDon Says:

like you brought up the other day 87:

    Rise up this mornin’,
    Smile with the risin’ sun,
    Three little birds
    Each by my doorstep
    Singin’ sweet songs
    Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin’, (“This is my message to you-ou-ou: “)

    ultimate feel good track!

  223. Buc1987 Says:

Tell me this sht isnt pmp…. Sinatra had it in with JFK AND the Mob…. Dude was a player.

  236. Patrick Says:

The Kinks actually go back to the 60s. Invaded America along with the Fab Four and the Stones.

But they were putting out great albums in the 70s and into the 80s as well. Very underrated group.

  237. Buc1987 Says:

Some stadiums do you use Hells Bells, but the Bucs are still stuck on Crazy Train. Probably because of the all aboard part.

  238. Buc1987 Says:

I think it’s time for another players meeting…

  239. Buc1987 Says:

I’m a big Sinatra fan too. That’s my drinking buddy.

  240. MakaveliTheDon Says:

Hells Bells is the ultimate kick off track.

  241. MakaveliTheDon Says:

GNR is always good for kick offs too. Sweet Child o Mine

  242. Buc1987 Says:

See I grew up in a historic town on Cape Cod. I really do think we were the last town in America to ever get cable TV. So all I had was 3-4 channels of TV and the radio while I grew up. Lots and lots of music.

  243. MakaveliTheDon Says:

You know that song, ‘Cape Cod’??

  244. MakaveliTheDon Says:

my dad loved that old stuff….

  245. Buc1987 Says:

    Old Cape Cod…

  246. MakaveliTheDon Says:

  247. MakaveliTheDon Says:

    yup

  248. Buc1987 Says:

LOL it was rich kids town where I grew up, but I lived on the town line. So I went to school with rich kids and after school I hung out with poor white trash in the town behind my house. I mean literally my back yard was the town line.

  249. MakaveliTheDon Says:

you should have stayed up there!! Id love to live up in that part of the coast.

  250. MakaveliTheDon Says:

I hear ya. I grew up with poor ass cotton pickin kids in Alabama to rich ass schools overseas. Ive seen it all. gives you a good perspective.

  251. Buc1987 Says:

There was no black kids in my entire school. It was 99.9% white. Yet all my friends after school were black and white. Well some of them indian as well. It was an odd life though.

  252. Buc1987 Says:

Yah I went there for my honeymoon, just to show the wife where I grew up. She’s from Alabama and Florida.

  253. MakaveliTheDon Says:

well alright ’87. Id like to squash all that shit that happened with us earlier. it was petty. and I think our btch ass team played a role in our aggression. so are we cool??

  254. MakaveliTheDon Says:

well alright ’87. Id like to squash all that sht that happened with us earlier. it was petty. and I think our btch ass team played a role in our aggression. so are we cool??

  255. Buc1987 Says:

I could never live there again though. High taxes and all. I’d be in liberal hell. Besides my whole family tree lives here now. They all moved to redneck Pasco county. Aunts, Uncles, pretty much everyone.

  256. MakaveliTheDon Says:

that sounds like a Top 10 destination spot with the ladies!

  257. Buc1987 Says:

LOL I’m always cool man. I take things in stride on the internet. It is what it is.

  258. Buc1987 Says:

Hey I gotta get to bed though. Or atleast try to after this game. I’ll talk to ya tomorrow I’m sure.

  259. MakaveliTheDon Says:

good stuff. I on the other hand can get super aggressive…. like with rdbuc earlier….Its like David Baner/Hulk.

  260. Patrick Says:

These right here are two of my favorite lesser known Beatles tracks!!

  261. MakaveliTheDon Says:

    alright. take care ’87

  262. Buc1987 Says:

Yah it’s Bucs, Red Sox and Celtics for me. I know it’s a crazy mix. But I’ve lived it so far. I suffered for years as a Bucs fan. Saw them finally win a SB. Suffered longer as a Sox fan. Saw them finally win a World Series, and well I did not suffer much with the Celtics. After the Bucs won the SB, I looked over at my wife and said. Well I can die now honey.

  263. Buc1987 Says:

Good Night and Grease for Peace.

  264. nick Says:

We might be able to turn things around, with Arizona coming in next week, just stay patient folks, all of us loyal bucs fans have been through hard times DADDY, hang in their and hope you are all well and have a great week.

  265. MakaveliTheDon Says:

I like your optimism homie. Positive vibes do right!

  266. Mach Says:

Bottom line is the glazers just don’t give a damn anymore I guess.. If they did they would have made the change already… Maybe the rumours of them been too preoccupied with Manchester United are true after all.

This team is built to win now. All we need is a QB and a HC. Maybe trade for a serviceable TE and WR and we should be there.

I don’t think this franchise will last another rebuilding season. The time to act is now. We have maybe a 3 to 4 year window at max.

I say get dungy or lovie smith or maybe even gruden. We all know gruden isn’t good at building teams but he sure can take a team over the last hurdle.

  267. Niko Says:

It’s WAY too early to call the season OVER. That is rediculous.

Does it look bad? yes…but two of our losses are to the AFC teams, that has no factor in the playoffs. Most of the 0-3 stats do not take that into account, most 0-3 teams are also 0-3 in their conference.

If the Bucs beat the Cardinals, and there is a good chance that happens, they are 1-3 and thats where they were last year.

Yeah Ill take flack for this position, but my article today is gonna be based on the chances.

  268. bucstop.com Says:

It was frustrating to see Talib and Blount beat us. Imagine what its gonna feel like to see Freeman do that.

  269. Chris Says:

Will admit freeman started the game well , but progressively got worse. That’s what you get with him. For Raphael to make any comparison from josh freeman to Ben roethlisbuergrr, well we know you’re an idiot. Look at the resumes. Josh sucks. Ben dominates. In the clutch.

  270. Chris Says:

Niko, it’s over. Look at the body language of our savior at qb. We’re a few weeks away from giving up the season from the looks of it. That was garbage and its only a matter of time before the defense curses out the offense bc they’re doing their job even though I question the defensive play calling.

  271. Pete 422 Says:

This is deeper than Freeman. If it was for dropped passes, the Bucs have 2 touchdowns in the first half (VJax walks in if he doesn’t drop that one over the middle). Plus is completion % goes up to about 70%.

I think Joe is right, the Glazers let this play out to the end of the season. This may be a chemistry thing between coach & players or it’s just simply the wrong coaching staff for the offensive talent.

  272. 76buc76 Says:

Glennon was informed this morning, he will be taking the 1st team rep’s this week. The Freeman error is over. Very similar QB’s,big, strong arm. No mobility. The thing we know about Freeman is he stares down WR. All I need to see from Glennon is him going thru his read’s. As soon as he hit’s a 3rd read WR. I’m in. Watching Brady Scan the field over and over again. Is how it’s done. Glennon will be a bigger, stronger Tom Brady. We won’t lose another game till next year. He’ll be the talk of the NFL. By the end of the season people will be saying…RG who
