Blackout Watch

September 12th, 2013

Will the Bucs-Saints game be televised Sunday?

Joe knows it’s arguably the biggest Bucs question on the minds of local Bucs fans. Legions of Bucs fans, from little kids to old folks and poor drunks, are hanging on the blackout/non-blackout announcement coming this afternoon at roughly 4 p.m.

Joe’s got no insight as to what will happen. However, the Bucs-Saints game last season did meet the blackout threshold and was televised. Given that fact, it would be thoroughly heinous if this year’s Bucs-Saints game didn’t get on the tube. Going backwards is always a bad thing.

Joe will keep you updated.

At this point, I hope on Sunday booing at home then having to go to RJ Stadium to Boo

  2. Adam L Says:

Regardless, who do you introduce for the Home Opener? The offense where Josh Freeman will CERTAINLY get it or the defense where Lavonte David will face the angry hoardes.

Just tank the season for Bridgewater. And no I’m not trolling like mr Vegas. Used to be a freeman supporter. Even won a fantasy league with him. But him not Glennon will ever take us where we wanna go. Time for a REAL QB in Tampa. It’s only been 30 years without one.

That’s ridiculous, well, enjoy watching your illegal internet feeds on your 50″ HDTV’s.

Last years Saints game was the Throwback game..meeting the threshold had more to do with that than it did the opponent.

I wouldnt consider it going backwards unless this years throwback with Sapps jersey being retired is a blackout.

I’m sure this past week has done nothing for last minute ticket sales. The Glazers would be well advised to buy up remaining tickets in an effort to save face with the fan base after the all the bad press the team is getting. A blackout can only fuel the perceived downward spiral.

  7. RBellBuc Says:

The Glazers and Dominik went out and bought Vincent Jackson, Darrelle Revis, Dashon Goldson and Carl Nicks. They have sunk some money into some really good players and this is how Tampa repays them. An opening home game blackout.

  8. Bucnjim Says:

From strictly a business stand point; you cannot put out a product like they did last week and expect ticket sales. Glaziers must be going crazy right now with this train wreck and it’s only week one. A win last week (even a sloppy one) would have almost guaranteed a sellout. Now with all the drama and a seemingly unmotivated team; this year could easily get out of control and a lot of heads will roll. Not sure how much of all this is true or not, but they better get a handle on things right now.

  9. Bucnjim Says:

I wish someone/anyone would step up and tell us what the hell in going on over at one Buc. I’d at least like to know how much truth there is and not just speculation. Maybe it’s time for the Glazers to step up and put this fire out.

^^^This game should have sold out way before last week’s game.

  11. pewterpirate99 Says:

They’re not going to come out and say what’s really going on. That would be PR suicide. They’ll put some sort of nice positive spin on it like they always do. You really think the Glazers are going to be honest??!! HAHAHAHAHA! Remember what the late great Chris Thomas use to call them….the T.T.O.T’s. The Twin Towers of Truth. NOT!

  12. JKTampa Says:

Let’s face it, the Glazers have been cramming $hit down our throats since they bought Manchester United. They come to taxpayers and ask us to pay for a stadium but when we don’t sell out that stadium filled with camp fodder crap, they black out the game WE TAXPAYERS made possible.

NFL teams make billions on TV revenue and they blackout games we made possible with our tax dollars. We need to send a message to the NFL and the Glazers and blackout games that they don’t broadcast. When they’re playing games in silence, they’ll lift the stupid blackout rules. As long as we do nothing, we have no voice. I won’t go to another game that’s blacked out…period. I hope that others will join me and take back OUR team.

    JK:

Do a bit of research on NFL revenues. They could play in empty stadiums and still make tens of millions of dollars per team. More and more each year, attendance is insignificant to the percentage of revenue teams receive.

  14. JKTampa Says:

Understood, Joe. It’s more about the message than hurting their pocketbooks. They need fans but we get punished for not buying tickets to games and helping them drive ticket prices up even more. It’s time to get organized and stop bitching about it.

  15. Posey99 Says:

The bucs are giving tickets away. As a former season ticket, I received a call from the bucs inviting me to Sundays game. They are giving me 2 free tickets and a parking pass at no charge. They said they have a tent setup where I have to pick them up. FYI
