Unless Bucs Are Playing Poker, Forget Ayers

Though Tennessee defensive end Robert Ayers admits the Bucs havent spoken with him recently, it doesnt rule out the Bucs from drafting him.

Though Tennessee defensive end Robert Ayers admits the Bucs haven't spoken with him recently; it doesn't rule out the Bucs from drafting him.

Tennessee defensive lineman Robert Ayers, who some suggest would be a good fit for the Bucs, likely isn’t coming to the Bay area unless the Bucs are using an impressive smokescreen.

Appearing on Sirius NFL Radio’s “The Blitz” with co-hosts Adam Schein and Solomon Wilcots, Ayers was asked about the conversations he has had with a number of teams he’s rumored to be drafted by.

When he was asked about the Bucs, Ayers said, “I haven’t heard much from Tampa Bay.”

On face value this sounds like the Bucs are not interested, but maybe not. Ayers was quick to point out that he had conversations with the Bucs during Senior Bowl week and at the NFL combine. So Ayers isn’t putting too much stock into teams not communicating with him in recent days.

Curry would be a great. But at this point Ayers would be a welcome addition.
