Tynes Struggling With MRSA

August 28th, 2013

While the Bucs have offered information that Bucs guard Carl Nicks is responding well to his treatment with MRSA, Bucs coach Greg Schiano noted yesterday he wasn’t sure of how well kicker Lawrence Tynes is recovering as Tynes is out of town.

Well, Tynes’ wife Amanda put out an ominous Twitter update of her husband, and in the process wasn’t so hip on the Bucs allegedly suggesting Tynes is responding “well.”

@AmandaTynes9: I hear my husband is responding “well” to treatment. LOL! He’s NOT responding at all yet. This is our #bucslife

The picture in the post is a photo of Tynes that his wife Twittered out as he is on an IV with a PICC device to help the flow of the medicine into the bloodstream.

MRSA, an aggressive, dangerous form of staph infection that is resistant to common antibiotics is nothing to screw around with, as evidenced by the Tynes photo and by how quickly the Bucs reacted to two bouts of delousing One Buc Palace.

This is why Joe thinks it is folly to even expect Nicks to start for the Bucs next Sunday in New Jersey.

    “Infected toes on the line”……

  2. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I think he’ll be back week two.

  3. Morgan Says:

Cry me a river. People get sick everyday. People die from cancer. People are fighting for us in warzones and dying. Lady, stop feeling sorry for yourself – he’ll get better. He’s made a ton of money kicking a football. Consider yourself fortunate.

  4. stevek Says:

    Hope Tynes beats this quickly.

Sad to sign a guy and get him infected at team the team facility.

Our team is questionable enough, medical issues aside.

  5. ShutTheBucUp Says:

Wow, I bet she’s a real treat to live with…

  6. FLBoyInDallas Says:

Sounds like the wife is a little bitter. Sh-t happens. Life happens. Face it head on and deal with it. Stop implying that the Bucs are somehow at fault with your sarcastic bucslife hash tag at the end. Nothing I hate more than a whiner or finger-pointer. Man-up (or woman-up) and deal.

  7. IdahoBucsfan Says:

Sometimes I wonder what your articles are trying to accomplish? Seriously? I suggest you reread this one Joe bUCS “fan”?

  8. mikeck Says:

Look Amanda….your husband is a kicker Ok? a kicker? I know he is important to you but you cannot expect a professional NFL team to care much. Sorry…get a puppy if you want unconditional love

  9. Chef Paul Says:

Wow that poor bastard looks miserable. Makes me feel for him. And I sure hope Nicks is doing better than Tynes

  10. You Go Joe Says:

Dam I want to reply back to the woman, but what do you expect the organization to say?? He is not responding well and we will wait for the next step of action?? Dam woman needs to calm the eff down, shes not the only person affection by the NFL occupational hazards.

Are the bucs to even blame for his infection?

  11. ChrisFromOrlando Says:

I think the family of Mr Tynes knows that he would be jobless after the preseason and this good way of sueing the bucs. Mr Tynes is not at One Buc Place. MR NICKS IS!!!
This is all about money. Otherwise you wouldnt tweet pictures like that.

  12. Travis Says:

Schiano clearly said he couldn’t comment on Tynes because he doesn’t have contact with him. I don’t know what his wife is upset about. They didn’t find anything that even indicated our facility is where the infection took place. Seems the Bucs did the right things from the start to me.

  13. lightningbuc Says:

Yikes! Doesn’t sound like they are too happy with the Bucs! Glazers better get out their checkbook for a settlement! Dom knows knees, but he don’t know MRSA.

  14. Morgan Says:

    @Chef
Nicks was recently seen out dining w/ friends, PICC line in arm and visible to all…….he’s dealing with his ailment by doing what he likes to do best…..eat.

  15. Walter Says:

I bet Tynes brought the infection with him from New York, which is why he isn’t doing to well, and Nicks is. Nicks found out about it quicker than Tynes did.

  16. Morgan Says:

MRSA is omnipresent. For all we know, Tynes was a carrier and introduced it into his wound himself. I don’t see where anyone can identify the Bucs or their training staff at fault here. The bug can be found anywhere.

  17. tampabaybucfan Says:

She is definately not a “Buccaneer Woman”…..

Tynes is probably thinking to himself “Shut up b***h….I may still have a chance of making this team!!!

  18. lightningbuc Says:

Joe Jurevicius sued the Cleveland Browns over MRSA and won.

  19. ShutTheBucUp Says:

And why would Tynes let her post that and publicly mock the team he is signed to? Kickers. Psh…

  20. Couch Fan Says:

    @Chef

I was thinking the same thing. He looks almost out of it

  21. stevek Says:

    Shut the Buc Up,

It was mentioned that Tynes was “progressing”… Mr. and Mrs. Tynes can set the record stragitht, nothing wrong with that.

Sad, and hope Tynes has a speed recovery. It is the unfortunate truth.

  22. ShutTheBucUp Says:

stevek, does “setting the record straight” have to include “this is our #bucslife”? just seems like a bit of a slap in the face to the team that gave him an opportunity to continue his career.

  23. Smith Says:

She must want her husband to get cut faster is all. Seriously, get your wife under control. Smart people wouldn’t have twatted that.

  24. Biff Barker Says:

    Stay classy there M Organ.
Feel badly for Tynes and wish him a speedy recovery.
While it’s hard to blame his wife for being upset, the tweet insinuating the Bucs are at fault is pretty foolish.

  25. lightningbuc Says:

    Shut the Buc Up,

It may also be the team that ends his career. Have to think Tynes knows more about where he got the infection than those of us on here.

  26. tmaxcon Says:

Wish Tynes the best. Walter and Morgan may be correct. If I am not mistaken Tynes arrived with a Toe issues. Supposedly a ingrown toenail. Maybe he is the one who introduced it. I know it’s not PC but PC is part of the problem is this world. Anyhow, I wish him well but I think it’s a little out of place when players wives chime in.

  27. AmbushBuc Says:

For all the people jumping all over the wife — do you live alone in a cave or something?

Her husband contracted a career-ending, life-threatening infection that is currently eating his flesh. The team glibly said he’s doing fine, the wife wanted to correct the record and say he’s not. She’s got every right to be pissed off at the team’s statement.

  28. stevek Says:

    Shut the Buc Up,

Perhaps it is a backhanded “slap to the face”, but why would the Bucs say he is “progressing”, and he has not yet responded to the treatment of MRSA?

Sure, the information did not need to be tweeted, but why did the Bucs mention Tynes + Progress?

I am sure Lawrence Tynes would have rather retired happily, then got sick at our facilities…

I understand the disrespect it may conjure, but the Bucs should not have mentioned “progress + Tynes”, without it being the real deal.

    Wives will be wives.

  29. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Now…back to our regularly scheduled program of “Josh Bashing”…;)

  30. AmbushBuc Says:

“She must want her husband to get cut faster is all. Seriously, get your wife under control. Smart people wouldn’t have twatted that.”

Tynes will be under treatment for MRSA for months. He’s got no shot of making the team this season, and if the Bucs put him on the non-football injury list he won’t be paid a penny by the team.

  31. Couch Fan Says:

Who said Tynes was progressing? I watched the press conference and Schiano said in these specific words that he was not sure of Tynes and was more sure of Nicks because Nicks has been there.

  32. AmbushBuc Says:

    Couch Fan,
Schiano said both Nicks and Tynes were “responding well.”

  33. Buc1987 Says:

I think it’s folly for Joe to expect to see Nicks by weeks 5 or 6.

  34. ShutTheBucUp Says:

Is Mrs.Tynes a doctor or nurse? MRSA can be life threatening. The fact that he has time to sit on his comfy couch and snap Twitpics doesn’t exactly tell me its a dire situation. “Responding well” could mean its not getting worse. I guess we’ll just agree to disagree.

And as for the Bucs ending his career, hospitals have MRSA outbreaks for christs sake. They can happen anywhere, anytime.

  35. lightningbuc Says:

    Buc1987,

The world must be ending, because I agree with you here. Nicks isn’t seeing a football field for a long while.

  36. stevek Says:

    ShutTheBucUP,

You are right on. No one should speak about Tynes’ condition, until it hopefully improves.

It was wrong to mention Tynes as “responding well”, and it was wrong for his wife to tweet about it.

It is just an unfortunate situation, and hopefully Tynes and Nicks will have the opportunity to reclaim their respective careers.

  37. Charles Says:

I’d cut him and when he asked why, maybe you should keep your wife mute

  38. AmbushBuc Says:

    Charles,
The Bucs signed Lindell the same day they found out that Tynes has MRSA. Do you really think Tynes had a shot at making the team after that?

  39. Nano Says:

Another stupid b**** tweeting, you just cost him the job, he will be cut with an injury settlement, Lawrence grow a pair while you recover and tell her to shut up.
Everybody gets sicks and people out there have it tougher.

  40. Stranger Says:

    Really sad to hear.

  41. Big Rob Says:

I think it’s foolish to blame this on the Bucs. There is a good chance he didn’t get this from the Bucs facility, but brought it with. His woman is jumping to conclusions blaming this on the Bucs. She needs to focus on her husband and not Twitter.

  42. Buc1987 Says:

lightningbuc…no actually you don’t agree with me. I expect to see Nicks by week 2.

  43. RBellBuc Says:

Someone said the other day they think Tynes is seeking an injury settlement from the Bucs.

  44. BKNYfootballhead Says:

Is that a boner Tynes is sporting?

  45. Buck Rogers Says:

Just another wife pissed off her husband is home and not working

  46. Buc Fan #238 Says:

Some of you guys angry at his wife need to go check yourself into a mental institution.

    It’s not that serious.

  47. Buc_The_World Says:

Ok who is to say that he isn’t progressing, just because she takes a picture of him looking bad does not mean he isn’t progressing. We don’t know what he looked like before that picture, for all we know he could have been worse. This picture is inconclusive because we have nothing to compare it to. “Responding well” and “Progressing” are two different things and if he wasn’t responding to the medicine I’m sure he would be in the hospital. I feel sorry for the guy but its obvious she is angling for a law suit

  48. scubog Says:

    Now that was funny Scotty.

I would be embarrassed if my wife did what Mrs Tynes elected to do.

Fact is, hospitals are dirty places. He could have contracted this ailment from her tub, when she kissed his big toe boo boo to make it better or worse if he has some sort of Rex Ryan foot fetish.

  49. Kevin Says:

HAHAHA…He’s not mad about the infection, he’s mad he’s gotta sit at home with her for two weeks. “Our bucs life” Man she sounds like my ex girlfriend. CRAZY!
