“Iron Sharpens Iron”

Joe knows Bucs fans are grousing about the dings, dents and bruises a handful of Bucs have suffered in training camp thus far, including a couple players key to the Bucs playing in January, Mike Williams and Adrian Clayborn.

Williams has a sore hamstring and begged Bucs coach Greg Schiano to practice today, but Schiano declined the request. Adrian Clayborn, who looks to be a man possessed after coming off season-ending knee surgery last year on an ACL torn in the third week, has a mild groin injury.

There are others, including the perpetually injured Nine Lives Myron Lewis who also has a sore hamstring.

While a bit concerned with the injuries, Schiano expects them this time of the year, and believes it may make for a better team down the road in order to deal with injuries.

“This is training camp,” Schiano said. “It is OK to have some guys with nicks and bruises and strains. Iron sharpens iron. This is the time to do that, in training camp.”

The good thing is, none of these injuries are serious. Williams will be back in a few days if not sooner, and Clayborn is expected back next week and has yet to be ruled ineligible for Thursday’s game against the Baltimore Crows at the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway.

    Is Myron Lewis related to Mark Dominick? Why is he still on the team? My bigger question is…what has he done for the BUCS lately? Will someone please help me understand this?

    @joe why do you always refer to Raymond James stadium as the stadium on dale mabry highway?

    @Saskbuco
    It has been many yrs since i lived in the area, but there are a lot of things to do in the Tampa Bay area. Depends what your interests are. I am also going to that game, and can’t wait. In order of importance….Veteran’s Day (I am one), Sapp’s induction into the Ring of Honor, and it’s also my Birthday!!

    Re-post: Sometimes, I’ve noticed, these ”minor” injuries last for a week, then a second week, then….

    Saskbuco: Coming from Canada where it may already be starting to snow you have to get some sun. I would suggest you stay at the Sand Pearl Hotel on Clearwater Beach. Have a Grouper sandwich at Frenchy’s. Eat some chicken wings at the original Hooters on Gulf to Bay. (See ad on this site) If you and your wife have a chance, try to get over to Ybor City for a Cuban sandwich. Lee Roy Selmon’s BBQ is near the stadium and would be a nice place for dinner before the game. If you have kids, the Glazer Museum would be a nice time. Busch Gardens would be fun for anyone. Have a Mel’s hot dog. It’s on Busch Blvd. close to the park. The Museum of Science and Industry on Fowler near USF is entertaining and educational. My trip itineraries always include a lot of eating. Stay away from Mons Venus or you might miss the game. Enjoy your stay!

    1987 doesn’t think before he posts sometimes. He probably thought he was being funny.
