Doug Martin Looking To Dominate

A lot of people who try to wave off Josh Freeman’s struggles often state how Freeman will shine this season because it is his second year in a complex offense guided by offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan.

Joe agrees with that. It’s sound logic. Buf if that applies to Freeman, shouldn’t it also apply to others including Doug Martin? The Bucs’ Pro Bowl running back thinks so, as he explained to Joe after practice of Day Four of Bucs training camp 2013 this afternoon.

“Definitely, I am a lot more confident, lot more comfortable out here on the field. Things are going a lot smoother. The thing I want to do is to help these guys that just got in here. Make it smoother for them,” Martin said..

“Being more comfortable with being here and in the position that I am, it is definitely slowing the game down. My routes are a lot better because I know what is going on with the offense. I am more aware of the offensive scheme.”

Joe knows the Bucs are looking to get Martin more touches this season, not necessarily more carries. There is a difference. Martin, the Bucs believe, could be absolutely lethal with the ball in the open field on pass routes.

If Bucs fans think Martin was a stud as a rookie last season, they may be taken aback by what they see this season.

Telling you it feels like ’97 or ’98 all over again except we have a really explosive offense now…and this defense will be really solid now…exciting ..
    Can’t wait to see # 22

I will say this and I don’t care who think I’m crazy or disagrees..

Martin can absolutely be the best RB in the NFL and I believe that he has the ability to out produce any one of them. He is the total package and it is unbelievable the draft we pulled off for him.

I don’t know if we realize how lucky we are to have him.

Without him our offense is non-lethal.

he’s really going to be an excellent compliment to Glennon when he starts.

Martins going to be a stud but I hope we don’t run him into the ground. I think we’re going to ground and pound it this year. Muscle hamster and hopefully we get a dash of Leonard and Michael smith.

Thank goodness that Schiano is in charge, I remember all those years of the pop-star yapping how the runnning backs had lost there value, how he would not draft a running back in the first two days of the draft. He even went so far as to brag one year that all the running backs for the bucs were undrafted. Thank goodness the pop-star takes orders well.

In your realist dreams. Starting to feel a little foolish are you? What is your word worth next to the Glazers, and Schianno himself. Dom hired Schianno and everyone knows it. Enjoying seeing you squirm.

He will lead this offense into the playoffs.

the “devalued RB position” is a league wide perception. if you had been paying attention you would know that.

I love D-Mart> My biggest fear is the NSO wears him out. I want Doug to get his carries, but I would also like to see him get a breather from time to time.

  15. Buc1987 Says:

This fallacy that Glennon is going to beat out Freeman for the starting job this season is lunacy at its finest.

    robert = lunatic

Notice where RB’s are being drafted now Realist? Even Adrian Peterson wasn’t selected until #7. In the old days (before you were on Earth) RB’s were often taken with the top 10 picks. Those days are behind us. Your nemesis picked Doug Martin at the end of the first round. Where would you place him in a re-draft?

    ^^^^ LOL@ scubog well said.
