More Evidence Revis Is Healthy

July 23rd, 2013

When Joe pounds the streets on hot June days selling the best advertising value in the history of Tampa Bay marketing, Joe chats with a lot of serious Bucs fans. And outside of being gripped by Josh Freeman fears, these fans most want to know if Darrelle Revis’ knee is really healthy.

Joe gets it. Revis’ knee is arguably the most important joint in recent Bucs history, surpassing Cadillac Williams’ and those of Tanard Jackson  and Jeremy Stevens.

Imagining a healthy Revis on opening day helps Joe sleep at night, even better than envisioning the warm embrace of Rachel Watson while Joe cradles a frosty beer.

The latest on Revis isn’t really news, but Joe knows it will soothe many fans seeking any sign that the secondary savior, the $16 million man is more than ready.

The photo above is of the side of the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway and was released by the Bucs on Facebook yesterday. Mr. Revis himself even fired it off on Twitter, all pumped up about leading the “No Fly Zone” to his 368,000+ followers.

Joe can’t imagine Revis and the Bucs would engage in these kinds of fan-arousing tactcs if Revis wasn’t truly ready to ball.

Revis’ side of the field may be the “no fly zone” but let’s hope the other side isn’t the “frequent flier” zone. The alleged “rock star” has put all his eggs in Banks’ basket.

Problem: Winning shouldn’t be plced on 1 player, or knee.

If we don’t have the depth as a team to win without a player, then we are in trouble.

You can thank Jash Freeman for this one.

Patriots… they can lose anyone except for Brady.

I believe we will be fine, with either Johnson or Banks covering teams #2 receiver, especially if they get help over the top from “Hawk”. Johnson played solid ball, yeah got beat a few times but even the best get burnt from time to time. I see Johnson starting then moving inside in the nickle & dime covering the slot and allowing Banks to stay outside so he can use the sideline and his length on taller WR. Our secondary is very solid and will hold up fine barring major injury. NO FLY ZONE!!!!

I really wish that Revis could have that team from that Rocky flick, working on his rehab… The Russians that worked out Dolph Lundgren during that montage.

How are the Bucs any different than a lot of teams in the nfl? From what I gather there will bE a lot of rookies starting at corner this year on other NFL rosters. e.g. N.Y. Jets CB Dee Milliner

For a second there I thought we had Myron “bust” Lewis up there, then remembered Barron switched to #23. Phew!

  9. Sneedy16 Says:

This season I only see one team with a top level #2 WR and that’s the Falcons. The rest of them are average. I am more worried about the Safeties and how well they can cover the TE’s like: Vernon Davis, Tony Gonzalez, Jared Cook, Jimmy Graham, Brandon Pettigrew, Greg Olsen, and Brent Celek.

96 Million with no guarantees…..I think Revis sent a message that he is just fine!!!
I would rather see Banks get burnt than Talib or Wright.
You heard it here first….Leonard Johnson will develop into a top-tier talent. Lets enjoy his services while he is cheap.

agreed Johnson is on the rise. top tier…meh

the next Barber – very likely

no slight to Barber. he’s HOF material. but that was in the old cover 2…not so sure that’s as relevant now…but Johnson seems to have the same skillset.

so many of you have vacuum ball mindsets.. instead of letting your testicles hang, they get sucked up into your abdomen because you worry about the Dirty Birds. Who Dat! (Who Dat? GTF outta here) this is what the Chicken Wings and the Bounty Hunters are thinkin:

For a split second I almost threw up thinking that Myron Lewis was on there…

lightningbuc, I think we can expect some growing pains from Banks this year…so we’ll have to be patient. Even Ronde wasn’t sure he’d be on the team going into his second year. He felt he was horrible his rookie year.

  16. Couch Fan Says:

The sign is a thing of beauty. Still dont think it has any indication of how healthy Revis is though. I think they planned on capitalizing on the marketing of him despite if he was healthy or not. They would been foolish not to.

  17. 76buc76 Says:

Bank’s and Johnson need help over the top. They have no make-up speed. Bank’s at least is long and that will help. Johnson however is short, slow and has short arm’s. As far as covering TE’s, I’m not that worried Barron,Goldson heck even Watson can handle the TE’s. I worry about short pass coverage, the LBer’s need to show they can cover those crosser’s and checkdown’s.

  18. 76buc76 Says:

Everybody that think’s Freeman had a great year last year. Because of his franchise record passing yard’s. TD-INT I’d way more important than yardage. If he throw’s 30 TD to 15 int for 3200 yard’s. We’ll be way better off than 30TD’s 25int’s for 4500 yard’s. If all you want is big passing yard’s and don’t care about Int’s. We can lure John Kitna or Vinny out of retirement

  19. Kodaslc Says:

Banks is going to be the Real Deal!!! He is a Richard Sherman Clone without his antics !!!Same height and size and speed!! only reason Banks dropped to the second Rd. For a guy considered the Best Cb in College Football the last two plus years!!! 40 yard dashes is for track stars!!!especially running them without helmets and pads… It is the most overrated thing in all of football ! Ronde ran about a 4.6-4.7 and If banks is half the Player Ronde is with Revis on the other side we will be in great shape for years to come.
