Penn’s Practice Punisher Returns

July 5th, 2013

No, Donald Penn and Adrian Clayborn are not dating. They’re shown here at Gerald McCoy’s recent wedding.

Several times, Joe was lucky enough to be just feet away from Adrian Clayborn when he went one-on-one with Buccaneers offensive tackles during training camp of his rookie season.

Damn, Clayborn was practicing with the intensity of a man possessed, or a man who chugged three Red Bulls  just for fun. Clayborn was ferocious coming after Donald Penn and many others, and Clayborn kept his motor revved– in games and practice — until he blew out his knee last September.

In a mere 20 days — 20 days! — Clayborn is set to the return to the practice field with no restrictions. And, per Greg Schiano, Clayborn has reworked his body in a good way and a Pro Bowl season is the goal.

This is not lost on Donald Penn, who took to Twitter recently to remind Bucs fans that Clayborn drives him to new heights.

@DPENN70 – At my boy @Geralcdini93 wedding wit my boy who gets me better everyday at practice @AJaClay bout 2get it lol

Clayborn returning with a mission and Penn in the best shape of his career should make for more fun stuff in training camp, and hopefully make both players better.

McCoy got married? I did not know that. Congrats Gerald!

Training camp and preseason sucks. You just know you’re going to lose good players to injury before the darn regular season even gets started.

    Congrats Gerald!!

    @ Buc’n Junkie

it sucks but its part of the game… thats why its so important to have good depth. anyways, hopefully the players that do get injured dont get severe injuries or season ending injuries.

  4. Andrew 1 Says:

speaking of injuries… Im curious to know from the Freeman haters how many games they think we would win if Freeman went down with a season ending injury. I say 3-4. its so easy to bash him now, but im guessing they would be real sorry if we ended up with NO QB.

  5. Couch Fan Says:

3-4 isnt that much less than the average of 6 we’ve got with Freeman. Both get us nowhere cept an early draft pick.

    @Andrew 1

If you ask robert, Madden player extraordinaire, Freeman getting injured is the key to success in 2013. He says we all need to hope Freeman doesn’t make it through training camp healthy to have a shot at the post season so that Glennon can get as many reps as possible.

As for me though, if Freeman goes down, I think this team could still manage 6 or 7 wins. The running game is good enough and the defense SHOULD be much improved but it is going to be rough if Freeman is down for any extended amount of time.

    @ Couch Fan

I could be mistaken but didnt you predict us to win 10 games in a previous post? I guess the starting QB has nothing to do with that kind of success.

    @ WCBF

robert saying an injured Freeman is the key to our success is beyond idiocy. it doesn’t even dignify a response.

  8. Couch Fan Says:

No I never predicted a number of wins. I do think we’ll match our win total from last year but theres no telling how much over.

  9. loung Says:

    what about 11-5

  10. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Says:

Penn, Nicks, and Joseph give us perhaps the best line in the NFL, on paper!

  11. Biff Barker Says:

Freeman is our best option… unless he melts down under pressure again.
Doubt a rookie will be much better. This really must be tormenting Dom and Schiano.
Errr, can Martin throw the HB option?

  12. Capt. Tim Says:

    Congrats Gerald McCoy!!

But, as we all know- guess that’s the end of the playful Gerald! No more of those great post! Bummer!

I think Clayborn can easily become an All pro!
One of the best motors I be seen. He wants it! And going against Penn will make him great!

  13. Capt. Tim Says:

    “I be seen”???
    Damn phone!!
    “That I’ve seen”

  14. loung Says:

    were be good !!!!!!!!!!!!

I can just hear Penn reading the comments section. “Hey Bucs fans, this article is about me and my boy AC…….stop talking about Free for once.”
