Pressure? What Pressure?

One would think a star cornerback, who before fully recovering from ACL surgery signs a Powerball-like contract with a new team, would feel a tinge of pressure to perform to his utmost.

Well, that may be, but so far, there is no pressure like playing in Gotham City says Robin New York City says Darrelle Revis. The pressure with the Bucs just doesn’t compare to playing for the Jets, Revis told the Aliquippa Times in a story hidden behind an evil paywall but documented by NFL.com.

Joe can’t quibble with what Revis said, only because the Bucs and the Jets are two wholly different set of circumstances.

For one, Revis doesn’t have the help surrounding him like he will have with the Bucs. He didn’t have a pair of linebackers in front of him like Lavonte David or even underrated Mason Foster. And he sure as heck didn’t have a pair of safeties playing next to him like Batman Dashon Goldson and Mark Barron.

The only pressure is on the Pop-star and Jfro-6pak.

    @Buc_Realist,

If you sign a Contract as a Defensive player for Quarterback money the pressure is on. Maybe not as much media pressure but if he doesn’t perform, he’s cut! That simple and will lose millions of dollars.

But the Bucs did help relieve that pressure by putting a fantastic cast around him.

There’s no more pressure on Dom than any other GM. Heck, in just one season with the coach of his choosing he increased the teams win total by 75%. Then looking at the many coups he’s pulled in the last two years bringing in some of the league’s best free agents and it’s easy to understand why he’s rightly called ‘rock star’.

The man got a rap up there as a money grubbing , bitching mal contempt . When we got him, Dominik knew up front what the man really wanted. “Respect”(in fact that’s all everyone wants). Look at the way this man has acted ever sence he put on a Buccaneer Jersey. Going far beyond what has been expected, if this attitude and performance carries over to his play in regulation play, Revis will well worth his compensation. I am so excited to be able to see #24 wow us with his shutdown performance. He’s going to be a real Buccaneer Man.

Who provides that pressure? The press? The fans?

Nope. The opinions of the owners, GM and coaches are all that really matter. The owners have already shown that they will do things their way regardless of what anyone else thinks.

So…where is the pressure coming from? Really?

You can say it’s there, but the only pressure there is the same pressure that is there every year. No more. No less.

The rest is in your imagination.

It’s funny, I can say something incredibly deep and profound and not get one response. Or I could be like the realist ass and say nasty, hurtful, obtrusive, and abusive crap, and people will respond to me all day. He’s probably just a lonely, fat, bald-headed, middle aged man, who’s pessimism annoys the crap out of everyone close to him, to the point where he drives them all away. He uses this forum to be out right negative because if he were to talk like this to people face to face, someone would undoubtedly knock his block off.

Pressure is usually self-induced. I suspect Revis doen’t do that to himself. Signing a no-guarantee contract would lead you to believe that he has an extreme amount of confidence in his abilities….more so than Dom did.
The pressure will be on the other corner.
I think we got a winner in Darrell Revis!!!

I would hope you guys could see this by now. The self proclaimed “realist” is not here for debate. He is not here to learn about the Bucs. He is not here to contribute anything to the discussion.

    He thrives on the attention.

Its evidenced by his need to be at the top of every comment section but not reply to any of the comments directed at him. His only purpose is to hijack every thread to talk about himself, rather than the topic of the article. He is the definition of an internet troll.

On topic, Revis is one confident individual. (As he should be.) I remember when the nickname “Megatron” was placed on Calvin Johnson. Revis said something along the lines of, “If he is Megatron then I am Optimus Prime.” I am sorry but I thought that was awesome. I really can’t wait to see this guy in action.

  9. Bobby Says:

Yeah…not worried about Revis. The secondary will be awesome this year.

Jeeze , man, get it right…. It’s malcontent.

“: a discontented person: a : one who bears a grudge from a sense of grievance or thwarted ambition b : one who is in active opposition to an established order or government”

Fritz it’s a football site, not an online English class.

JB made a great point that needs more emphasis. As far as the Buccaneer Way, Revis has been talking the talk and putting in the work. I also am in line to see this guy back up the great attitude with great play.

Who the @#$% would want to live there? No place I’ve ever lived or worked has compared to NYC, thank God.

Buc’nJunkie: I enjoy your posts and your profile of Buc Realist. But I don’t think he’s reached middle age yet when his comments and cutsie nicknames are so 7th grade. He says the same thing over and over. Maybe the first time “JFro” and “Popstar” brought a chuckle but after a while his armpit fart commentary no longer has credibility, even as humor. Our GM brings in one of the best CB’s and some criticize the move. To me it’s like you set your best friend up on a date with the prettiest cheerleader and he complains because her pom poms aren’t big enough.
