Project Revis: “Sunny All Day, Every Day”

In what looks to be a neat series of reports that began Monday night, Andrea Kremer of NFL Network has received exclusive access behind the scenes at One Buc Palace to document the rehabilitation of Bucs star cornerback Darrelle Revis (Joe still finds those words weird to type).

Monday, Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik talked about the first time he thought about trading for Revis back in September 2012. Some really cool stuff in this report, along with Revis acknowledging the risk the Bucs have taken.

One thing Joe liked was Revis in a “not-in-Kansas-anymore” moment; while riding a stationary bike, Revis smiles and says, “This ain’t like New York. [It’s] sunny all day, every day.”

The weather should be conducive to his rehab.

If I was getting 16 mill a year, it would be pretty sunny in Seattle or London for that matter.

Heh. Right now he thinks the sun is a good thing. Come August he’ll be cursing it, lol.

Excited to see he, Wright and Banks on the field at the same time!

He seemed to be moving around well in the video. The insight into Dominik thinking about it last year when he hurt his knee is awesome!

  9. BucDan Says:

Great post. He looked good in front of the camera and I didn’t notice not one single limp.

For me one of the biggest things this Revis deal did was bring national attention to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. ‘The Network’ has been cycling Bucs highlights and news all off season and IT IS GREAT! We could use the exposure to get more fans involved. There’s a reason that fans are called the 12th Man. We bring the extra ‘Ummph’ to the team and can help swing the momentum in our teams’ favor. Hope to see more seats filled at Raymond James come fall. Leh Go Bucs!

Revis knows his knee is fine or he wouldn’t have accepted a completely no guarantee contract.
Darrell Revis will bring out the best in all of our other players. That’s what leaders do. There is no question that having some of the best at their positions will improve our entire team.
Our defense may now be strong enough to hold onto some of the leads our offense will produce.

  11. Gus Says:

I see an opportunistic defense in our future

  12. Captain Jack Says:

I can see the Bucs and Revis playing under this contract for 2 seasons. If things are working out, I think they will redo a deal for 3 years with some guaranteed money. Right now, no one is going to pay him (let alone afford to pay him) more than the $16 million per season he is getting from the Bucs. Plus, it’s pretty safe to say that the first is guaranteed anyway. That’s part of the reason the Bucs are confident he will not hold out.

  13. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

The only concern I have with Revis is this…what if the Bucs make it to and win a Superbowl? In order to keep the nucleus together, would Revis later take a pay cut? I would wager not, except that sometimes getting a ring changes the way guys like him think.

Still, I think it’s important to draft another good CB next year, just in case….under the guise of depth.
