“The Best Corner In Football Without Question”

April 22nd, 2013

Darrelle Revis was an outstanding player for us, for myself since I’ve been here as a head coach. He was tremendous. And as John talked about earlier, he gave everything he had to this organization, was a tremendous player. You go back, I don’t take back one word that I’ve ever said about Darrelle Revis. I believe that he is the best corner in football without question. — Jets head coach Rex Ryan after the trade of Darrelle Revis yesterday.

He was the best CB in football before his injury.

It’s foolhardy to believe, blindly, that he’ll be back to 100%.

  2. ShutTheBucUp Says:

I don’t think the Bucs are going to write up a $96 million contract and hand off their 1st round pick unless they are pretty damn certain he’ll be at 100%.

  3. Patrick Says:

I’m sure the Bucs looked closely at the knee before signing Revis. By the kind of contract he got, I’m guessing his knee health is projected to be good on opening day.

  4. Capt. Tim Says:

Knees aren’t a big deal anymore.

Revis is the best Cornerback in football. Richard Sherman can cry all he wants, but even he knows that Revis is much better.

Eric Allen said today, on NFL Am, that the NFL has changed. He said that all teams in the modern NFL have 3 good/great WRs, a pass catching TE, and a Receiving threat coming out of the back field.

If a QB never throws at Revis, or the WR he is covering.

The Qb still has 4 other targets to throw to. If you don’t have 2 other good CBs, a safety that can cover TEs, and a LB that can cover backs in the flats- you still will have a bad secondary.

Even with the best CB in football.

We have the safety( Goldson) and LBer(david)
Barron and Foster struggle in coverage.

We need two more CBs. One if you trust Wright. Which, given his track record over his career- I wouldn’t.

But we are much better with Revis. He is absolutely the best defensive player in the league.

  5. Tampa2 Says:

Stop being a negative nancy boy. Be happy. The Bucs are making a commitment to winning and getting the BEST players. I guess nothing is ever good enough for some fans.

  6. Bucamania Says:

Pumped to be a Bucs fan today!! Revis baby!!

  7. Capt. Tim Says:

Tampa2- everyone shouted playoffs last year, when we signed V.Jackson, Nicks, and Wright.

Some of us know a little about football.
If we don’t make some additional moves, we will still be in last place

I don’t care who it is( except a QB). You don’t add one player, a rookie or two/ and go from last to first.

Great move- still work to do.

  8. clafollett Says:

Actually Tim, you should try and look at it in a positive light, we tied for 2nd last year. Carolina, New Orleans and the Bucs all finished 7-9.
