Revis Deal Will Come During Training Camp

March 31st, 2013

What kind of poker player is rockstar general manager Mark Dominik?

Former Jets quarterback Ray Lucas, now a Jets analyst for SNY-TV out of New York, believes Dominik won’t push his chips all-in anytime soon on a trade for Darrelle Revis. It will be the Jets who will “panic,” Lucas explains in this SNY video below. Lucas predicts the Bucs-Jets deal will come after the start of training camp, when the Bucs can see whether Revis is healthy and moving his hips and exploding like a stud cornerback.

Nothing would shock Joe at this point. Keep in mind, the Bucs can hang on to Eric Wright as a bad insurance policy and cut him without big cash consequences before the start of the regular season.

I’d be impressed if Dominik had the balls to wait that long.

I still do not understand why people think there is going to be a trade anytime soon. It has all ready been reported that if the Jets trade Revis before June (I forget the exact date) they will take a cap penalty. The Jets are playing hard to get right now so that Mr. Warden does not hit them with a penalty anyways.

I suspect the day the Jets can trade him without a trade cap penalty Revis will be a Buc. Till then I like to laugh at people who get all bent out off shape over the “non-trade”

It is starting to feel like all these Revis predictions have been completely off the mark, and the media keeps coming up with excuses to push it back longer and longer to avoid admitting they screwed up.

I don’t believe Dominick would completely close the door, for example, if the Jets offered an amazing deal. But…I believe Revis is off the table.

Neither team seems intent on making it happen. About the only ones who are intent are members of the media.

That makes sense. It’s too huge a risk to give up draft picks and cap $ on a guy whose performance may be below desired. He could come back only healthy enough to play, but not deserve those extra $ and draft picks.

I think Schiano is saying expect to see more of Eric Wright!

Please give God a chance,he will chage your life.

  7. Pete 422 Says:

I like the idea of keeping Wright. He is better than most of the FA out there.

  8. Steve Says:

LOL. Ray Lucas talking about getting Rex Ryan drug tested!!!

    Thats too funny.

  9. @build thru the draft Says:

dont mind waiting for revis, despite all the reports out that there the one thing im glad to hear is that the bucs do not want to part with the 13th overall pick. Bucs earned that high draft pick and it has as much value if not more value than revis

  10. Macabee Says:

DE George Selvie to the Bucs Tuesday. Old saying – there’s enough stuff in there, there might be a pony in there somewhere! The hits just keep coming!

Like i said on an earlier post. Dom is playing with the best possible hand joe, he will raise on the river. Can’t wait to see it all play out. The fact that he did not go out and spend like crazy on cb’s with so many available to sitting back and playing his plan through tells me that he is confident in his play.

For those of u that play or understand the game of poker, sometimes being aggressive can get u in trouble. And when u are playing against players that are aggressive the best move is to check, and when they raise instead of tipping of your hand u call. The most interesting play in a hand like this is when u re-raise or go all-in on the river. How does the other players in the hand respond? And more importantly, how big of a win was this play?

Dom is no longer a rookie/beginner at the poker table. He believes this is the best play to rake the most chips to his stack. Hopefully it makes us the chip leader in this division!! Go Bucs!!

  13. Buc Wilder Says:

Why not! With a couple of key pick ups we should have the pieces and system to make it happen (barring huge losses to injury). I’ll wait till the schedule drops before I predict W-L’s, but 11-5 sounds good to me.

  14. bucobruce Says:

Thats what Im talking about Buc Wilder.love the name james wilder

  17. bob Says:

  18. passthebuc Says:

This trade is about as bad as the one they made with Oakland in the Jon Gruddddddddddddin deal.

  19. Raphael Says:

Yeah, all we did was win win a Super Bowl with Gruden ….

The Tampa Tribune is confident that Darrelle Revis trade talks between the Bucs and Jets will “heat up again” as April’s draft approaches.
The Bucs are “holding tight” to the 13th pick in the draft, which Jets GM John Idzik desires. It’s possible the trade won’t happen until Tampa Bay formally goes on the clock. On Sunday, Profootballtalk.com passed along “belief in league circles” that Buccaneers ownership is all for a Revis trade. Related: Buccaneers
