Report: Grimes Has An Offer

March 22nd, 2013

Yes, Bucs fans are yearning for a cornerback — a good cornerback not named Eric Wright.

One name on the tip of Bucs fans’ tongues for weeks is Brent Grimes, the 2012 Falcons’ franchised player who tore his Achilles on opening day. The Bucs have been linked with chatter with Grimes’ agent, but now the Bucs might have to push all-in or lose out.

BSPN claims Grimes has a multi-year offer on the table from the Cleveland Browns.

Interestingly NFC South blogger Pat Yasinskas says losing Grimes to the Browns would then thrust the Falcons, who cut Dunta Robinson weeks ago, into the cornerback market where the Bucs are still sniffing around.

  1. Dylan Says:

Well if Dom doesn’t sign Brent grimes. I think this revis trade is written in stone and the hold up it truly compensasion. Bucs are easy playoff contenders if they can just stay healthy and add a couple starting corners and keep the current like Leonard as special teams and backups. Mark and Greg know this, that’s why it’s hard to comprehend and mind boggling the bucs have not signed one corner this offseason. And let bennet and Roy
Miller walk. I really hope it’s because there preparing for a revis contract and trade because otherwise I’m really confused and gonna be pretty pissed off. Glazer agrees 10 years is to way long without a playoff win. One season is!! Get revis to Tampa or Xavier Rhodes and Desmond trufant better be wearing pewert on kickoff otherwise dominik has some questions to anwser in kinda a make or break year for him.

  2. 4everBucsFan Says:

If Atlanta loses Grimes, you can bet they’re at least happy he may sign with the Browns.

Jesus Joe, You run way to many scripts on this site. I know it makes you money but I get tired of all the browser crashes. At least have them load in successive order. :)

  3. bucfanjeff Says:

If we don’t sign him, then we really didn’t like him.

Revis may or may not happen, but regardless, I’m now convinced we take a CB in the first round.

  4. Tbuc Says:

Come on rockstar stop sitting on your hands and upgrade the talent on this team!!!

  5. J 2.0 Says:

I’m not so sure signing a 30 year old undersized corner coming off of an achilles injury is a wise investment. Even if we don’t get Revis, I think restructuring Wright, drafting either Rhodes or Trufant and even some CB’s later in the draft, and having Leonard Johnson as the nickel along with the addition of Goldson will have a great impact on improved defensive play.

  6. Dub Says:

I understand the Bucs not jumping in right away to overpay for an average to above average CB like they did last year with Wright. I even understand the Bucs not allowing the Jets to strong-arm us for Revis…but I really hope we don’t end up losing out on any decent free agents. I trust Dominik, he obviously knows more than me about how to build a team, but I don’t think we’ve improved our defense at all, in fact, I think the way our D looks now is worse than last year. Yes, Goldson is a great addition, but if there is no pressure on the QB, our secondary will continue to get torn apart. Losing our best pash rusher and run stoppers on the D line and not replacing them then any talent boggles me. If we go into the preseason with this D, plus our draft picks, I think we’ll be looking at the same type of D we had last year.

  7. lurker Says:

wow, the replies are nice to read because the grumpy old men haven’t commented….yet

  8. Mr. Patrick Says:

If the Bucs really wanted Grimes they would have signed him already. They want bigger corners for the outside and Grimes is only 5’09″. Plus he hasnt even begin to run yet off of his injury.

  9. Brad Says:

Dominik quit playing pocket pool and get your arse in gear. You are F’ing out team up more everyday. Come on Glazers step in fire this ass clown and get on with it. Bring in Polian and see what an experienced GM can do..

  10. Westcoastbucsfans Says:

    @J 2.0

Now your on to something. We will be a better team by simply getting injured players back. We are theoretically “adding” Carl Nicks, Davin Joseph, and Adrian Clayborn to the roster. I think Wright restructured and an addition in the draft would suffice. Obviously it wouldn’t be a strength on the team but we were only mediocre secondary away from the playoffs this past season.

  11. Tim Says:

I cant see how we let Grimes sign else where, unless the Browns are just way overpaying. Eric Wright is no good and will be a cancer in the locker room. He will not be a happy player for us.

The leaves us with LJ and Gorer, I think both have alot of upside and are viable number 3 guys and could play into a better role over time. But neither are ready to be a number 2 much less 1 corner. We need to make the trade for Revis and sign a F.A..

This years draft class while deep has no standout CBs in it. Not one of the top 3 CBs in this years draft would of even been considered in the 1st round last year. We are looking likely at getting Trufant or Banks in the 2nd round. Xavier Rhodes is not a “Buc man” he does not play the run well and has a bad habit of turning his back to the play and losing the ball in the air. Milliner will be off the board way before we pick.

    Dom go get Grimes!

  13. Dan Says:

it would not surprise me if Mark leaves us out in the cold again on this 1 I would not be surprised if he simply leaves us with no veteran cornerrback in relying on his quote draft potential yet again. Oh Mark how you love to make us crazy!!!!

  14. Dan Says:

the only thing that’s scarier then a beast defensive end coming off the edge to sack the quarterback is Mark’s draft record much scarier.

  15. PRBucFan Says:

hmm posts not going through, very interesting lol

  16. J 2.0 Says:

    @ Tim

What makes Grimes a good pickup. Signing a players just because he is available doesn’t make the team better. With the exception of a healthy Grimes, someone please tell me 1 CB that has signed elsewhere this offseason that is better than Eric Wright.

Grimes is 30 and undersized. It really doesn’t make sense to sign a guy who has lost a step due to injury and age. He makes plays based off his speed and agility and at his age he likely will be missing out on one of those skillsets coming off of an achilles.

Would Grimes make our defense better? Maybe. I still say we need to keep Wright, draft atleast 2 CB’s in the draft, and have Johnson play the nickel. The addition of Goldson is going to have a huge impact, along with the return of Clayborn and a fully healed and conditioned Bowers. The sky isn’t falling people. This team will be better than last years. You don’t build teams by signing aged, injured FA’s.

  17. lurker Says:

    @j 2.0

logic is lost on most of this crowd, but it is refreshing to see

  18. PRBucFan Says:

Even if we did sign Grimes I would think Revis was still going to be in play. Seems that many NYJ media outlets are reporting that we are desperate and currently playing very bad poker lol..

  19. zam Says:

Too many CB’s with no game time since an injury… Revis, Grimes, etc. I’d rather get guys not as high profile but that are healthy and cost less.

  20. PRBucFan Says:

Here I thought It was going to be our offer… shame lol

  21. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Looks like we will be fielding a team of rookie CB’s next year, and that may not be as bad as it sounds. College Corners see a lot of the spread and read option, and may be better at defending it.
Short and small wingspan corners have gone out of style in the NFL of today.
I am glad they are letting Grimes walk.

  22. ShutTheBucUp Says:

Rookies be runnin’ wild in our secondary. At least they’ll have veterans like Leonard and Danny to show them the ropes!

  23. BangkokBuc Says:

While I underdstand how 1 full week with no substantial news stories or player addiditons can take it’s toll on Bucs fans, I really think people need to chill out. People are clamouring over mediocre players who too old, damaged goods orno one else wants (see Grimes, Brent).
Why do I get the feeling that if the Bucs did in fact sign Grimes, the same people on JBF bitching about not signing him would then be complaining about the term or the contract or his achilles.
FACT – Dom hit a homerun last year in both free agency and the draft. If that doesnt buy him enough credit for fans to patiently see this entire offseason through this year, then I dont know what else he can do.
We are in good shape people – take a deep breath and stay positive.

  24. J 2.0 Says:

Leonard Johnson has a future. Lets not confuse last years rookies with rookies that are actually drafted. Johnson is a diamond in the rough, but even if we are relying on Wright, Johnson, and rookies, these rookies will BE DRAFTED. Meaning better than the undrafted FA’s we had playing back there last year. Don’t over simplify everything.

  25. Architek Says:

This is a risky move and I hope this is calculated.

  26. youngbuc Says:

Really?! Most of yall want to restructure Wright’s contract?? I’m sorry, but what kind of veteran leadership and lockeroom presence will he have after just losing his lawsuit suing the Bucs for not paying him. How exactly will he embrace this franchis and respect it now? Yall are crazy!!

  27. youngbuc Says:

Really?! Most of yall want to restructure Wright’s contract?? I’m sorry, but what kind of veteran leadership and lockeroom presence will he have after just losing his lawsuit suing the Bucs for not paying him. How exactly will he embrace this franchis and respect it now? Yall are crazy!!

  28. tampabaybucfan Says:

It is becoming more clear that the plan is to go with Wright & Barber at CB….with the possibility of getting Revis…then Wright is gone. We will probably select 2 of the first three picks as CBs….competing for playing time. Ronde will stay if he can start & that would only be at CB now.
I just don’t think we want to pay for anyone but Revis. And, I think when the dust settles, we will sign him.

  29. john Says:

Hey dom I hear Mike Clayton is available so is Derrick Ward and Quincy Black.
Why dont you go over pay for them like u did in the past. Now lets dont get Bennet and Miller at below market value that would make to much sense. We cant have a gm that gets us one average starter a draft and cant read the tea leaves when it comes to manipulating a free agent board.

  30. Curmudgeon Says:

Grimes is 30 and coming off an achilles injury. Bad combination. Add in his lack of size and I don’t really think he’s a fit.

  31. Patrick Says:

Dominick has FCKED UP huge this offseason. So far…….ZERO cornerback signings. Zero.

  32. dan Says:

there are 2 dan’s here let’s not confuse me with that one. please.

  33. ShutTheBucUp Says:

step aside coffee, this is a job for alcohol!

  34. andres Says:

Whatever J 2.0 says. in addition Wright’s stats are better than Grimes AND he’s not coming off an achillies. Nuff said. Also, Johnson is a pretty decent CB who will run up and hit, underrated but critical ability. The deep is covered now with Goldson and with POP, I hate to say it but Barber wasn’t covering deep very well and Barron hit the wall mid season, but should be better this year. Get Wright restructed and they are set in the secondary then get Abraham in for DE 3rd down steez then draft draft draft… Bucs are better off than most think.

  35. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

From what I hear Grimes has recieve multiple offers thus far…so this news is slightly dated.

  36. BirdDogger Says:

I’m ok with the Bucs passing on Grimes. He’s another player with injury questions. There were several options to upgrade the CB position when free agency started. Dominik and Schiano can’t say none of them would’ve been an upgrade. Revis appears to be the plan, but it’s a horrible position to paint yourself into a corner. We might see one or two rookie corners starting with Wright still on the roster if the Revis deal doesn’t get done. Dominik said in the past he wanted to build the team through the draft. Trading for Revis would seem to go against that plan. This offseason has been wierd.

  37. jb Says:

The Browns just signed CB Chris Owens from Atlanta. They’re gonna sign Grimes too? I’m surprised, since Brown isn’t all that great.
    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/22/browns-sign-chris-owens/

  38. Cmurda Says:

Whole lotta nothing happening at 1 Buc! Commmee ooonnnnnn. The natives, or in this case transplants, are getting restless.

  39. buccfaninhawkeyecountry Says:

Ha which of the non signings of corner backs is everybody mad at? Derek Cox? yeah Eagles pass defense was awesome last year lets go get Nnamdi and DRC… if i remember correctly Dolphis Pass d wasnt all that so go get Sean Smith. that was the only one i was slightly upset about. antoine cason? anybody im missin. any of those dramatically better than Grimes, Winfield, Sheldon Brown, Quinton Jammer, etc? can still get one of those, resign Ronde and draft one 1st round, still got LJ. and would still be in the same boat as any of those imo. Or heck maybe even wait for Revis (just no 1st rnd this year). You all need to Watch some March Madness, crack open a beer and just have patience.. start freakin til after the draft if we havent upgraded our CBs. Breathe fellow Buccs Fans.

  40. MTM Says:

Stay the course Rock Star! Over pay for average players and let go of good to decent players you could have kept for next to nothing. Not buying the GM’s got a plan horsesh*t.
99.9% of the GM’s in this league would have been fired for mess this organizations in.

  41. WestCoastBucsFan Says:

    @MTM

What “mess” is this organization in exactly?

Oh, the mess where a first year coach came into the NFL from college and improved a 4-12 to team 7-9?

The mess of signing one of the best free safeties in the league?

The mess of our roster being absolutely stacked with talent at almost every position except corner while simultaneously being one of the league leaders in cap space? Is this the mess your talking about?

Has Dom made his fair share of mistakes? You bet. He is human. A human who has spent the better part of his life in an NFL front office and just *may* know slightly more than YOU about running a football team.

If I am wrong than show me where the bad out weighs the good on this team because I just don’t see it. We have less holes in the roster than most teams across the league do.

  42. J 2.0 Says:

    WestCoastBucsFan for prez 2016!!!

  43. ShutTheBucUp Says:

    SIGN URLACHER!!! (sarcasm)

  44. Snook Says:

Let’s just trade away the whole draft for Revis and pay him $20 million a year. That’s the best plan. Especially since he’s not coming off serious knee surgery or anything.

  45. Sneedy16 Says:

Some of these comments are comical. From what I hear on here it’s like were in the middle of a losing season and not the offseason.

  46. Pete 422 Says:

Plenty of CBs out there. Calm down.

  47. Snook Says:

“Plenty of CBs out there. Calm down.”

Yeah, but not any GOOD ones. That’s why they’re “out there”

  48. Sneedy16 Says:

    @Snook

There weren’t good ones to begin with. They were all average. The best one Sean Smith was every inconsistent. Cox couldn’t stay health, Lewis wanted to go to New Orleans because it was his home town. They all are just as average as Wright.

  49. PRBucFan Says:

People devaluing Grimes because of his age and injury are hilarious.

Injuries happen they happen all the time, it’s nothing new or out of this world. Players come back ALL THE TIME from injuries, don’t kid yourselves.

Grimes is elite talent and can run circles are all of our current CB’s.
It’s funny to me how Bucs Fans can toss Grimes aside like they haven’t first hand seen what he is capable of as he single handily made Free’s life a living hell.

Than again, maybe our current crop is perfectly acceptable to you..

  50. Raphael Says:

And Panic has settled in with the overreacting crowd……lol !

  51. dannymac Says:

@ bangkokbuc Having one good offseason isnt going to get the heat off when you dont beat 500. Besides in his sample we have reason for concern. Its not ok to take a deep breath coming off a loosong season. Bucs Fans deserve better!!

  52. dannymac Says:

    WE DESERVE BETTER! BUCS FANS!

  53. Bobby Says:

The panic is hilarious. Same as last year. After the draft everyone thought Dom was a genius but suddenly now he’s a moron because he hasn’t done things the way a couch potato fan thinks they should be done. Priceless……
Good entertainment just coming here to read the drivel. Oh I know…”If you don’t like the comments you should just go somewhere else!!” Why?…There are idiots everywhere so I may as well enjoy the ones on here.

  54. MTM Says:

    @Westcoast Buc fan

Put down the pipe first WestCoastBucFan.

    - 2 consecutive 2nd half season meltdowns.
    - a QB who cannot play consistent 4 quarters.
    - a secondary that almost broke records in passing yards against.
    - 2 defensive line men gone that could have been kept for peanuts.
    - CB’s don’t get me started.

Sorry I don’t share the optimism. I hope I am wrong.

  55. Raphael Says:

    Your wrong ^^^^^^

  56. Jacko101 Says:

Not to be Negative, but this far this team on paper looks worse then last year. I don’t see us competing with most of the teams we play this year this far. I hope we change that around all the freer agents its funny to me that ONLY 3 fit what we were looking for. If Dom is banking Everything on Revis and for some reason doesn’t get him, for the first time Every Ill say he deserves to be Fired.

  57. CC Says:

Last time I checked we were 9 yards of shy of setting a record for WORST pass defense in the entire history of the NFL.

Hawkeye every player you named is better than what the Bucs currently have on their roster.

Right now our defense is worse than when the season ended.

I hope things change , or the Bucs will be at the bottom of the division AGAIN.

  58. WestCoastBucsFan Says:

    @MTM

    *Sets pipe down*

You say, “99.9% of the GM’s in this league would have been fired for mess this organizations in.”.

I ask, what mess are we win that would get anyone fired? The win/loss record that improved under a college coach’s first year in the NFL? Our inconsistent QB (As if consistent QBs fall from the sky) that set franchise records? Yes he was inconsistent but he is still only 24! Who would YOU bring in that is better? A guy that was cut from the likes of the BILLS or the CHIEFS? Im sorry but I would take Orlovsky over those bums. Dominik has done everything he can at the QB position.

“a secondary that almost broke records in passing yards against.”

That kind of happens when you lose both of your opening day starters to either injury, suspension, or trade. To rectify this Dominik went out and got a top five safety. He is also in the middle of trying to acquire the best player in the league at corner. What more do want? Is the only way for you to be satisfied is if we have pro bowlers at every position? That is just not possible with the current salary cap rules.

“2 defensive line men gone that could have been kept for peanuts.”

They left for peanuts because they were WORTH peanuts. Both signed for small deals elsewhere. Besides, Bennett got his feelings hurt and didn’t want to come back.

WR:Vincent Jackson (Pro Bowler), Mike Williams
    LT: Donald Penn (Pro Bowler)
    LG: Carl Nicks (Pro Bowler)
    RG: Davin Joseph (Pro Bowler)
    HB: Doug Martin (Pro Bowler)
QB: Josh Freeman (Pro Bowler) (And yes, he made the Pro Bowl after the 2010 season)
    DE: Adrian Clayborn, Da’quan Bowers
    DT: Gerald McCoy (Pro Bowler)
    ROLB: Lavonte David
    MLB: Mason Foster
    FS: Dashon Goldson (Pro Bowler)
    SS: Mark Barron

^^THIS^^ is why I am optimistic.

You can find negatives in anything if you look hard enough. The Ravens just won a Super Bowl and they have more holes than sieve.

You don’t need a pipe to see this is a championship team in the making.

  59. Raphael Says:

    @ westcoastbucsfan. ……

    * stands and applauds *

  60. MTM Says:

    @Westcoastbucfan

Do you realize how pro bowl selections are made? It’s more name recognition and market driven that all out talent. So based on your pro bowl designations the Bucs should have kicked some ass last year. Pro bowl selections mean absolutely nothing to fans. If the Bucs made the playoffs and had no probowlers. Tampa fans could give 2 sh*ts. I do appreciate your optimism.

  61. ben Says:

Id rather give next years first to the jets for antonio cromartie , perfect fit not near the issues same age less money

  62. WestCoastBucsFan Says:

    @MTM

That is a good point, and that is also the reason I am so optimistic. A lot of those guys were injured last year and we STILL got seven wins.

As far as the pro bowl is concerned I do agree to some extent. A lot of players make the pro bowl every year that don’t deserve it over other players. *BUT* You can not argue that a “bad” player has EVER made a pro bowl. A pro bowl designation DOES indicate that a player is AMONG the best at his position despite discrepancies between who is actually the better player between the top guys.

I am not trying to put anybody down but when you look at this team as-a-whole, it is stocked with good, young talent. All of this put together by a GM that you think should be fired. Dominik is learning and, more importantly, getting better every year. If this team stays relatively healthy they are bound to make the playoffs and contend for a Super Bowl.

  63. Cmurda Says:

Let’s not try to call out people for so-called panicking. Because many of us are displeased at the current moment, Joe included, don’t try to be the “best fan police”. Being critical is what makes this board so exciting. Playing couch GM is about as fun as it gets. Don’t crap on my parade. There’s no need for panic, but at the same time the lack of addressing our CBs is frustrating. I’d love to borrow the Pewter glasses of the overly optimistic. All that written, I am a Dominic fan. I agree very much with @WestCoastBucsFan’s comments. Rockstar has done a fine job especially with last year’s draft and has managed to put us in prime position for years to come from a salary cap position. The team showed vast improvement last year with a real coach. The state of the team has me very optimistic. The state of our CBs has me very nauseous and the state of the D Line has me perplexed. Entrust a guy coming off a serious injury and a guy who just brought a gun to an airport? I think there has to be a greater plan than that. I expect D Lineman with our 13th overall and I expect said person to rhyme with Fotulelei. No panic here. Just reality.

  64. Capt. Tim Says:

    Prbucfan

No. Football players recover from ligament injuries all the Time.
Tendon injuries are different. They can be career killers

    Ask Ernest graham

  65. Capt. Tim Says:

    West coast Buc fan-

A team that has been in the bottom of the division 3 of 4 years. No playoffs in 5 years.

And despite your belittling of our own players- we lost our leading sacker, best run stuffer, Strong side LB, and starting CB, off a defense that finished first I’m the league in rushing defense

Repeat- these “bums” were number one in rush defense.

What the F*^k are you looking at?? And why are you so happy about it?? You live losing? Last place your goal in life? Mediocrity good enough for you??

Might wanna loosen that lip vapor lock on Dom. If the kick his butt out to the street- it would tear yer lips off

Go throw yourself a ” loser” party

  66. PRBucFan Says:

Have players not come back from Achilles injuries???

  67. lurker Says:

    @capt.timmy

why not get rid of the make-a-wish foundation, they never save any kids? that is how you view everything with your negative, grumpy-old-man routine.

the team was mediocre last year, correct? and yet you want to keep shooting for the top with weak players. again, bennett reneged on his word, blame that “leading sacker”, lol. you say you were around since the beginning of the bucs, yet you think this regime is the worst? c’mon man.

the weakest links on a chain are still weak links!

  68. WestCoastBucsFan Says:

    @Capt. Tim

Terrel Suggs and our very own Da’quan Bowers came back from Achilles injuries in MONTHS and not only played but played well. Graham’s career lasted longer than it should have because he was the most selfless player to ever put on a Buccaneers uniform. The Achilles just sealed his fate.

Im not sure where your quoting “bums” from but I called Miller and Bennett replaceable, not bums. Quality players that over valued themselves.

We have been in the basement because of either a lack of coaching or a serious rash of injuries every season in Dom’s tenure. Sure, if Dom had signed every free agent you had a wet dream for and hit on every single player in every draft we might have a better team all while being in cap hell but that is childish to even think that is possible.

As far as my so-called “vapor lock” is concerned, it is for a reason. We don’t need uneducated “fans” running a crucial part of this team out of town. If you look at the talent as a whole on this team you would have to be a moron to say he needs to be fired right now.

There is only a handful of players left from the previous regime. (Davin Joseph, Donald Penn that was Dom’s pickup anyway, and Jeremy Zuttah). Its obvious he had nothing to start with. He has had to assemble an ENTIRE ROSTER of 53 players from scratch in just four years. How many other GM’s can say the same?

Im sorry timmy but you will need a dump truck to carry all the crow you will be eating after this season.

Everybody complaining can easily point out problems but none of them can point out solutions. You guys are calling for Dom’s head after two weeks of free agency. What a joke.

  69. stevek Says:

Dom needs to PROVE HIS WORTH STILL…

The Bucs better get their asses back in the playoffs this year. No more medicrity.

Raphael, West Coast Bucs Fan- Please wake the f*ck up. We suck ass. Last place, 10 game losing streaks, 5 game losing streaks….

We need to win, Dom needs to win. Dom needs to win us Revis.

Dominick had a great offseason last year, but his ass needs to find a way to get the Revis deal done, so we don’t COMPLETELY SUCK anymore.

Josh Freeman is the next question mark. He needs to show his worth in order to justify a new contract. The Bucs hired Schiano, and from that moment forward we are eliminating all of the pu$$ies from the roster. Reejus Benn- that means you, enjoy your fashion and thanks for nothing.

We are evolving into a hard nosed, selfless, lunch pale mentality football team. Dominick needs to land us the big fish CB (Revis), and sign another CB.

I am ok with not paying Roy Miller or Mike Bennett, but if we have LESS TEAM SACKS this year compared to last year, then I would love to see Dominick answer that WTF question?

Raphael, West Coast Bucs Fan- Thank you for your optimism, but WE SUCK ASS.

    Capt. Tim- Preach it brotha.

  70. stevek Says:

    West Coast Bucs Fan,

Wake up with with “Dominick established a 53 man roster from scratch” Bull SH!T argument. Dominick has taken us to zero playoff games.

Look at Bruce Allen. He got hired later, traded more picks, and won the NFC East.

Dominick signed us a punter after a 10 win season, drafted Freeman, rewards mediocrity by resigning Trueblood and Black, and he has signed and drafted his fair share of duds.

We need to win, Dominick needs to provided a winning formula, or he can go beg Bruce Allen for a job with Raheem. Hopefully, he can be EJ Bigger’s personal water boy (if Dom and Freeman can’t get us to the playoffs in 2013)

GMs don’t lead teams to anything. They help with the draft and personnel decisions. The COACHES and PLAYERS are the ones that lead teams to the playoffs. Yes Dominik has made some bad decisions. He was a first time GM. What do you expect? He has learned and continues to learn.

Dominik doesn’t provide “a winning formula”. The coaches do. Why do you think Raheem left and Dominik stayed? The GM’s job is to acquire talent. Its not Dom’s fault that players with no injury history all of a sudden become injury prone.

I do not think Dom is the greatest GM to walk the planet. Derrick Ward, Michael Clayton, etc. Of course he makes mistakes. Show me a GM that doesn’t. You can’t blame EVERYTHING on the GM.

Was anybody, anywhere in there right mind expecting the Bucs to have a winning season last year? Anybody?

The pressure is most definitely on this year for everybody. GM, coach, and most importantly Freeman. We MUST win this season. It is a reasonable expectation and should happen. Another season without the playoffs and I am all for canning everyone involved. Including Dominik.

Im done arguing here. If this team had no talent I would be holding a pitchfork with you guys. The problem is that he has done a great job that has been masked by poor coaching and bad luck with injuries. Look what Quincy Black did with some coaching. Mason Foster? Gerald McCoy? Look at how much each player improved from the prior season and throughout the season.

I just ask that judgement is reserved until we see what a healthy team can do with some consistent, quality coaching.

Just want you guys to remember Butch Davis. He’s one big reason for our moves and why we did a very good turnaround. Even though we had a losing season, it was a big improvement. And most of the games we lost were very close. Im a little frustrated too that we havent signed a CB in FA yet, but I trust management. The Revis deal is their best move as long as he stays healthy, and I think they’ve been banking on that all along.

Im not panicking or calling for heads to roll, but I am cautiously optimistic.

Why haven’t we signed a free agent defensive end. Why would we count on the injury twins. Im sure they will both be good players but my goodness in the NFC South the idea of having the worst pass rush in the leauge…..oh yea sounds like every other season under MARK. and this is one of the reasons why….Dumervill Osi Abraham Avril. Any of those guys you think wouldnt help our pass rush Mark. Think again. Build through the draft Mark go ahead

As the talking heads said on the radio yesteday you can’t have a CB with an Achillies problem. When you run backward it is good to have an Achilles that is 100% so Grimes isn’t worth anything to me. A first and a second round pic AND up to $15M a year on a guy who we don’t know has a good ACL is also no good for me.\ either. I think the rockstar GM ( Joe’s words , not mine by any stretch) is toast. He has delayed and fantasied his way to failure.Even if we do draft our way to a secondary it leaves our defensive line in a partial rebuild mode and a secondary with rookies and a second year guy in Barron. And then we could talk about Josh. No, let’s don’t. I’m depressed.
