Same Ol’ Aqib Talib

January 21st, 2013

Joe has been fascinated by the Aqib Talib enablers. To hear some of Talib’s supporters talk, he is the be-all, end-all for NFL defensive backs and in his spare time, is a virtual Green Lantern, saving damsels in distress and performs surgery on children in the Philippines.

Yet when Talib was unavailable while a member of the Bucs, the team had a winning record, if you can imagine such a thing.

In his last few years, Talib was hardly dependable, and Joe isn’t speaking of pistol-whipping ways or Adderall-popping. Talib was often injured, nicked up, simply unavailable.

This continued at the worst possible time yesterday with his new/old team, the Patriots. Just days after his coach Bill Belicheat all but proclaimed Talib to be the next “Night Train” Lane, Talib, in the AFC Championship yesterday, came up lame and was unavailable in the second half while the Baltimore Crows rallied to beat the Patriots and advance to the Super Bowl.

Joe was happy that Talib and his perpetual soap opera left for New England, and will likely arrive at some other city later this year, all but certain to be another place other than Tampa Bay.

Typical Talib. He realizes he’s no match for the Raven receivers, so he pulls the ole”hurt hamstring” act to prevent humiliation!

Smart. Now comes the humiliation for The Tampa Bay Area- the clueless morons who will jump on this post, proclaiming Taliban is a “great talent”.
It’s a real embarrassment. People in other areas read this post, and get the impression that we are all that Brainless

The fact that Coach Schiano and Mark Dominick finally rid us of this talentless thug, and managed to get a draft pick for him, is when I really began to believe this team was making a real effort to be a great team

Bealicheat learned what we already knew. You count on Taliban- then you are gonna fail!

  2. doc Says:

Coach, toes on the line, was sitting at home while Talib, was playing football, i guess that 4 round pick will have us playing this time next year. Coach talk to your players instead of at them, they will quit, because it gets old these are not freshman in College. The games played this weekend displayed tight ends, look what we did with k-2. Check the number of black coaches on his staff and look at the color of the guys he cut.

  3. Robbie_G Says:

Have to admit Joe, I did have a big ole’ grin when I saw him pull up lame. I to find it amazing that he is seen like a secondary savior. Looks like he will get a large contract and go the way of the Nnamdi. Over rated and over paid!!

  4. Big Rob Says:

Last night when i saw him leave the game I posted “Now the Patriots know why Talib sucks. He always gets hurt at the worst times” on FB. I’m glad to see Joe feels the same way.

  5. Big Rob Says:

@doc – You are a moron and way off base. You are a disgrace to all Bucs fans. Why don’t you go follow the Raiders?

There is no racial motivation to Schiano what-so-ever. You’re just seeing what you want to see. Vincent Jackson just the other day was singing his praises and telling free agents this is the place to be.

  6. Rich Says:

the smile on my face when i saw him on the sidelines to start the second half went from ear to ear.

i understand WHEN hes on the field hes most likely “better” than the guys we currently have. but ill take that 4th round pick to rid us of his drama ANY DAY.

have fun bill. keep avoiding the cameras mr pouty. you and aqib may have more in common than i once thought. classless.

  7. tampabaybucfan Says:

Even the thought of Talib getting a Super Bowl ring made me sick….Glad to be rid of him and his inconsistant play and bad behavior. We are fortunate to get a 4th round pick. NE paid a lot for very little.

  8. JobBucsFan 1.5 slim Says:

I wish the entire league will stand up and say enough of the bad boy culture and cut everyone of them. It really needs to start in college but the NFL could send a strong message to up and coming college players that bad behavior won’t be tolerated. I don’t care how fast you run, how far you can throw, if you have a thug personality, you don’t play in the NFL period…

  9. Bucfever40 Says:

@doc- Enough with the racist rant, you support thugs, we get it. And you never know, that 4th round pick could be a real difference maker, so make your bold statement before the trade is even review-able, that to me sounds like a hater of a team, that finally got rid of (his/your hero) as coach, and replaced him with someone that should be judged by the content of his character, NOT by the color of his skin, which is basically what you just did…..real clever doc!

  10. Robbie_G Says:

    Well said Big Rob.

  11. Ian's Gay Lisp & Ron's Drinking Problem Says:

Eric LeGrand is a Black Man….and Schiano treats that guy like his own son

  12. Sneedy16 Says:

    @JobBucsFan 1.5 slim

Not going to happen. The NFL consist of the good and the bad. To say cut all bad players will never happen. Suspending players for misconduct that will happen and also banning players for repeat violations will happen. If what you said would happen people like Jared Allen would of been out the league for repeated violations (he was one more violation from a one year ban). Look at him now great player with model player.

  13. MTM Says:

That performance looked all to familiar. Disappearong in big games.

  14. bucfanjeff Says:

I’m glad he won’t get a chance to “earn” a ring.

  15. IheartTheBucs Says:

When u cut a player in the nfl..most of the time they will be black…just saying……..

  16. Macabee Says:

    Capt. Tim,

    On Aqib Talib:

Unreliable, due to injuries – yes!
Thug, can’t argue with his reputation!
    Talentless, not hardly!

Don’t argue with me, argue wth RotoWorld. Of 48 CBs that are FAs in 2013, Talib is rated as the #1 CB in FA.

Not defending him, I’ve moved on and won’t look back, but to say he has no talent is just not the facts!

  17. Capt. Tim Says:

Macabee- was beginning to think no one would be an embarrassment today.
Every secondary that Talib has been a part of, has been in the bottom 5 in the league. He is talentless, and has never played better than league bottom. Root whatever doesn’t sign players. Clueless

Doc- don’t blame you for throwing the racist card. When you are trying to claim a bond of color, with an ignorant, selfish, and talentless thug, – and aren’t man enough to expect accountability, regardless of color- then throwing the racist card is all you got

  18. KBecks Says:

    Macabee,

Any chance we could get the top 10 from that list..

  19. mpmalloy Says:

    Lollol @ Capt Tim’s ownage.

    Lool^2 @ “doc” ‘s unbridled stupidity.

    Good stuff.

  20. JobBucsFan 1.5 slim Says:

    @Macabee

I saw RotoWorlds NFL Free Agent Master List ’13 of free agent cornerbacks and Aqib was listed first with Grimes second, but nowhere did they claim this was ranked, it appears to be just a master list of free agents.

  21. Stevek Says:

Glad we got a 4th rounder for Talib.

We were worse without hi, in the short term, but miles ahead of schedule without him.

Without a superstar player sitting there @ #13, I hope we trade back and target a bunch of players. Sounds like CB is pretty even after Milliner, and DLine looks deep. If we can trade back we can overhaul the roster and get some depth. Look at the Texans, they have depth. Mario Williams could walk and JJ Watt was there to deliver the pizza. If Arian Foster tweaks a hammy, Ben Tate can step right in.

I am all for trading back, ala the Ravens, and pulling the trigger on BPA all day.

  22. Macabee Says:

    KBecks,

Scroll down to the section on CBs.

    Capt. Tim,

Just checking to see if you were the original. You’re him, and as usual facts are still irrelevant! But good to hear from you!

    http://www.rotoworld.com/articles/nfl/42077/309/nfl-free-agent-master-list-13

  23. JobBucsFan 1.5 slim Says:

I hope we take #13 with the 4th rounder we got from NE and parlay that into somewhere around the #5 to pick CB Dee Milliner with the first pick. Then trade up like last year again to the bottom of first round or top of second round and take CB David Amerson or CB Jonathan Banks.

  24. Macabee Says:

    JobBucsFan,

I’m sure this was an oversight, happens to Capt. Tim all the time.

Go to Rotoworld. Go to the red tab on the right hand side and click on “more player news”. Scroll down to the topic – Aquib Talib-CB-Patriots and read carefully.

Then go back to the list of free agents and read the 1st paragraph slowly. Come back and let me know if you found it!

  25. Sneedy16 Says:

    @Stevek

To bad the Texans QB sucks. Matt Schaub play has went down recently.

  26. PRBucFan Says:

Fact is when he was on the field yesterday he was shutting down his receivers

I know there was a huge huge sigh of relief for some when he pulled
    up lame yet again.

For me it just ensured that Dom made a great move. He may be an elite talent but if you can’t stay healthy what’s the point???

  27. JobBucsFan 1.5 slim Says:

    @Macabee

    I stand corrected.

“The players are ranked in order of how we (RotoWorld) see them being valued on the open market.

    Thanks for the feed…

  28. FLBoyInDallas Says:

Can’t help your club from the tub. Talib spent so much time in the tub they started charging him rent.

  29. kh Says:

That loss jumped our pick up a few spots in the 4th round… Just what I was rooting for.

  30. Macabee Says:

For anyone interested, Walterfootball’s list of ranked FAs is out. On that list, Talib is ranked #3 as a UFA. Note that Sam Shields is a RFA.

  31. Joe Says:

For anyone interested, Walterfootball’s list of ranked FAs is out. On that list, Talib is ranked #3 as a UFA. Note that Sam Shields is a RFA.

And ProFootballFocus has E.J. Biggers rated better than Talib in their free agent rankings.

  32. Rrsrq Says:

Not upset about getting a fourth for Talib even though he was our best DB. I don’t trust this team to get the best draft pick in the fourth, we took West Virginia players that barely or if at all saw the field with a highly rated Alphonso Dennard and Vontaze Burfict still available in late rounds. Both of those guys may have had a small character question, but they produced on the Dennard should have been an easy pick after round three, no risk there when he was projected first round for most of the year. Bucs will do well in first three rounds, after that, question mark?

  33. Macabee Says:

    Ok Joe,

I’ll bite Joe! The takeaway from this debate is that we should not make the same mistake twice and not re-sign E.J. Biggers. Did I get it right? lol

  34. PRBucFan Says:

PFF’s list is clearly not arranged by talent lol

  35. Stevek Says:

    Sneedy16,

Right, Schaub is a lot like Freeman. They both have the talent, but they need to PROVE IT!

  36. mark2001 Says:

A player is only of any value when he is on the field. Between the off season drama, the punched cab drivers, the drug ban, the injuries at the worst times, he is actually no better than average.

A forth round pick was a steal. Who could be unhappy with the way the deal worked out. And don’t think cheat said to himself……darn, we could have been to this game without talib, so what did we accomplish by giving up this draft pick? Nothing. Wow…seems things normally went this way when we had him here.

  37. Mr Lucky Says:

@Stevek – There is a HUGE DIFFERENCE between Schaub and Freeman:

Schaub is the real thing – Freeman is a pretender.

I’d take Schaub over Freeman in a NY minute.

As for Talib – isn’t it amazing how many times he pulls up ‘lame’ in a game? Anyone want to take odds on how long before Billichek cuts him?
