Vincent Jackson Is The Anti-Kellen Winslow

Former Bucs tight end Kellen Winslow was an incredible talent. He also had an incredible ego.
Always demanding the ball, pouting when he wasn’t targeted, even if the Bucs scored a touchdown, it was all about K2 when he was here. Practice? Nah, gotta spin some discs poolside in Vegas, man.
So the Bucs sign Vincent Jackson and jettisoned K2, the Bucs’ passing offense — for fantasy football types — blew up like never before.
So, unlike K2, who is still unemployed and quit on the Patriots — yeah, Winslow couldn’t be bothered by winning because he would have had to have played for a hardarse, not a enabler — and went on a famous “toes on the line” screed, Vincent Jackson lauds Bucs coach Greg Schiano and wants to be his best recruiter, so he told Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.
“I couldn’t be more impressed with Schiano and his staff, the way they were able to come in here in one year, coming from the collegiate level to dealing with professionals,” Jackson said. “I know (Schiano) has some background in the NFL. But as a head coach, to take the reins the way he did, get his message across, get guys to buy in the way he did under totally different circumstances from years prior, he did an excellent job with that. He’s a lot of fun to play for. He’s a competitive guy, and he’s going to make sure you’re as well prepared as you can possibly be.
“I would tell (free agents) it’s a top-notch organization; it’s a top-notch structure. We have a great coaching staff here. They’ve built a system and a feeling of family and continuity, not only with the team itself, but I think they’ve done a great job in the community as well.”
Now this is what Joe calls a class act. It appears, thanks in part to Jackson reworking his contract, that Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik will have some monopoly money to play with in order to entice free agents to Tampa Bay (a cornerback or two?).
With a guy like Jackson, and Joe is sure Gerald McCoy as well, talking up the Bucs in Hawaii among the game’s elite, this cannot be a bad thing.
Meanwhile, Joe guesses while taking a break from watching football on this Championship Sunday, K2 is grumbling at his dog for not getting him the ball.

I definitely wouldn’t consider Jackson nor Nicks reworking their contracts proves much. He does say the right things to be a class act, but the contract rework put a lot more money in Nicks and Jackson’s already deep pockets due to sizable increase in taxes this year.

I know nothing about Garrett but its another position filled rather quickly. They must like the guy and him liking the Bucs because its a lateral move that doesn’t say much for his (soon to be gone) brother. I can see Chucky taking the Cowboys in 2014. VJ was great for us this past season, but I think a dominant TE would go along way to having a consistently explosive offense while also being a security blanket for Freeman. A TE who can who can catch AND block extremely well is something we have been lacking here for a long time. someone like Eifert from ND would be great.

I’d like to see the Bucs get Martellus and Michael Bennett signed up. I think that would take care of the TE situation. Don’t know if Dom will but an OT in the first round would be nice. I like Fluker as they said and it would be a solid pick for RT. I hope Dom fills as many holes with FA’s as possible.

Don’t know how the Garrett hiring will be, just remember him from hard Knocks ALL over Martellus Bennett, not sure if that would away him one way or another about tampa. Either way I can’t see him leaving the giants and some team will over pay him for one good year and many frustrated disappointing inconsistent ones.

Bucs need to sign Jarius Byrd to play free safety. Him and Barron would be pretty scary in the back end of our secondary. Love Ronde and he should be welcome back because he has deserved that. He isnt gong to be able to play forever and Jarius Byrd is a big time playmaker. 18 Int in 4 seasons.

Oh not much a TE you can use a few plays a game wants like 8 million. And he refused to negotiate. And he has the balls to say “you did a vet wrong man”. Well case in point. Look at Sydney Rice. Seattle pays him alot of money. A lot. And he was injured for the better part of the last two years. He had a great season last year but suffered from knee injuries.
Seattle could have said “yo lets renegotiate your contract..” But they did not. They let him go to an offsite facility and let him get some non surgical treatment. Now his market value is very diminished but did Seattle do him wrong? Hell no.
