Bucs Defense Did Its Part

Ronde Barber and the Bucs defense may have had their best game of the season.
Say what you will about the Bucs today — and Joe believes it is safe to assume fans will have an inordinate amount to say — the Bucs defense came to play.
Saddled with Josh Freeman throwing four picks (for those scoring at home — Joe is jealous — that’s eight interceptions in the last two games for the Bucs’ first pick in the 2009 draft), the defense may have played its best game of the season.
And when the Bucs needed the defense most, it turned in a performance that likely left Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks and John Lynch nodding their heads in approval.
On six consecutive drives in the second half, the Bucs defense forced the Rams to punt.
And the offense didn’t do squat with the opportunities.
Joe knows Freeman will get killed in the comments on this very website and will be crucified on sports radio likely until draft chatter starts heating up in April. Joe just wishes people would also give the defense the props it deserved today.
Yes, the Bucs lost their fifth in a row. You can’t hang that on the defense.

Damn right the defense played well today.
Freeman and the offense did NOT have their back, either.
I’m officially starting my Freeman-replacement watch. Hopefully it doesn’t last more than one offseason.

When the offense plays well, the defense stinks. When the defense plays well, the offense stinks. When neither play well, we get last weeks shut out.
This team is so inconsistent.

Well I agree. I think they played probably one of there better games. Which really isnt saying much. Still didnt think they played that great in the first half. Even though Josh didnt help them. But after that 80 yard TD they gave up to start the 2nd half i think they played as good as they can. And gave the offense plenty of chances to win.

The defense didnt play that great sam bradford had all day to throw the ball so u cant just blame the offense the rams did score 21 points on offense

Really? Does it matter that the D showed up today? What happened three weeks ago when Joe Montana Jr (aka Nick Foles) drove the Eagles to a win (albeit a meaningless one for them) in the fourth quarter to essentially destroy our playoff dreams? I’m glad the defense played better today. I hope it does the same next week since my wife (who has nothing good at all to say about Josh Freeman) and I will be driving to Atlanta for the next game. But please spare me. Where was the D when it counted?
