Adam Hayward Belongs In Doghouse

December 16th, 2012

What the hell got into Adam Hayward?

Unless you were listening to the game or were away from the TV or perhaps in New Orleans (Joe apologizes), TV viewers were shown a near fist-fight between linebacker Adam Hayward and front seven coach Bryan Cox.

Hayward, for reasons unknown, went after Cox on the sideline screaming at him and then shoving him. Immediately, Cox began wagging his finger right in Hayward’s face as if to say, “You don’t want to screw with me, back off dude.” Then Hayward went after Cox physically and the two had to be seperated.

Welp, backup linebackers don’t often get to rough up a coach, especially when the player’s fellow defenders can’t stop a cool Brees breeze, coughing up 42 points in a shutout loss.

Cox may have done the best work of any of the Bucs assistants. The front seven, despite being ravaged by injuries, is pretty damned good, especially since most of the players started on one of the dregs of NFL defenses last year.

If Hayward wants to be employed come February, he may want to have a passionate apology to both Cox and Greg Schiano in front of all his teammates in the locker room.

    let him go now.

  2. Justin Says:

The most embarrassing part of the game right there. Shows you exactly how lost we are.

  3. BucDan Says:

I suspect Coach Schiano has no room for disrespect. Bench him. Fine him. Darnell Dockett should be able to laugh at the fine that should be imposed on A. Hayward.

  4. Jessup Says:

Not saying it was ok for Hayward to push him, but Cox was on the field screaming at someone, and Hayward was calmly trying to get Cox to back up off the field. Then Cox shoved Hayward with two hands and kept screaming. That’s when Hayward pushed him back and got in his face.

Looks like getting a team stocked with players who fight to the end of the game and to the last game of the season is gonna take more than a single season to accomplish. This team still has a sh-tload of quit in it.

    +1 Jessup

  7. Red86 Says:

It’s clearly the corners that’s been the problem all season.

  8. lurker Says:

now that i see the video, i agree with jessup. it looked like cox was looking past hayward in the beginning.

  9. Justin Says:

This altercation was confirmation that the wheels have come off this season. Bucs should probably lose out. I wouldnt even count a win against Atlanta’s backups in Week 17 as real.

Has Schiano burnt out his players? Certainly a legit question considering the performance the last two weeks.

  10. Have A Nice Day Says:

I’m guessing Hayward is gone. I wish he didn’t do that cause he is a solid ST player, but, if Schiano allows it, consider it Raheem 2.0.

  11. BucDan Says:

Coach says it was handled internally, so I will trust him. Just something that should never happen at any level of sports.

  12. Dave Says:

Jessup.. SO WHAT? If Cox was getting into it with a Saint or another Buc or a Ref… not Hayward’s spot to get in his face. Another coach should or he should just calm himself down.

  13. bucfanjeff Says:

The DL and LB are clearly disgusted with the play of the DB’s.

  14. Miguel El Magnifico Says:

Cox pushed first, heat of battle, stuff happens. They’ll need guys like Hayward on this team.

  15. lurker Says:

dave, you know their relationship? cox is a hothead, always has been during games. maybe he had asked players to help him when he is heated to calm down or not get a penalty.
