“Eagles Are The 2011 Bucs”

December 6th, 2012

King says a Bucs victory should be assured Sunday but the Bucs don’t have what it takes to win out

Yes, the Bucs should pound the Eagles on Sunday. If the Bucs can’t beat a team on an eight-game losing streak with a rookie third-round-pick quarterback, well, then the New Schiano Order isn’t where we think it is.

Former Bucs quarterback Shaun King, a member of the 2002 Super Bowl team to be honored Sunday, really drove home the point during an interview on WDAE-AM 620 this morning. King likened to the Eagles last year’s NFL train wreck.

“The Eagles are the 2011 Bucs,” King said. “They know they’re playing for a lame duck coach. … If we’ve really made the next step, this is a game we should dominate from start to finish.”

(Even in national interviews with his employer, NBC Sports Network, King refers to his beloved Bucs as “we.”)

While King says count on a win Sunday, he’s not on board with the Bucs running the table en route to the playoffs.

“I don’t think we can go 4-0 through this stretch,” said King, who went on to say the Bucs aren’t a “complete enough” team.

Joe disagrees. Obviously, the odds are against the Bucs running table. But they have enough talent in place to beat the Eagles, Saints, Rams and a Falcons team that likely will be resting starts in the season finale.

Let’s face it, the Bucs have three losing teams remaining on their schedule, plus an unmotivated Falcons team. That’s as good as it gets when you need to step up and prove you’re a playoff team.

There’s a BIG difference between the Eagles 2012 and the Bucs 2011. The Eagles have Andy Reid who has had a consistent level of success over multiple seasons. Andy Reid will NOT be unemployed long (and I don’t think he has the personality for the booth). On the other hand, the Bucs had a drooling tard who invented words like “youngry.”

AND I WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT THIS IS THE SEASON OF MIRACLES. OUR FAVORITE BLOG AUTHOR, JOE, HAS POSTED A BLOG ABOUT BURGER SHAUN KING WITHOUT MENTIONING THE FACT THAT HE IS “ONE OF THREE PEOPLE TO LEAD THE BUCS TO AN NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.”

***NEXT THE BLIND WILL SEE AND THE LAME WILL WALK!!***

  2. RCH Says:

I think it is totally possible that the Bucs can run the table. However, after the Seahawks beating the Bears I don’t think it is as possible for the Seahawks to lose two more games so it probably wont be good enough.

To me its going to come down to next week at New Orleans. Win that game and the playoffs are a real possibility.

  4. JonBuc Says:

Burger King may be right @ running the table. I have a hard time seeing the Bucs going to N.O. and coming out with a win.

Did the Glazer Gaggle find a Crane Company to hoist him onto the field yet…………….

King isn’t incorrect about the team being “not complete enough”. The secondary is a major weakness, one that I’m confident will be corrected in free agency and/or the draft this coming offseason. I think wins against Philadelphia and St.Louis are possible, not gimmies, but the Bucs should be favorites in both games. The Atlanta game could very well feature second string Falcon players up against Buc starters, so I think the Bucs can pull off a win as well, so that leaves the New Orleans Saints. The Bucs play the Saints tough and have their fair share of wins, but this will be a difficult matchup. Brees has been a turnover machine as of late, but he’s facing a very inexperienced group of corners, and that might end up costing the Bucs in the end.

If the offense can bounce back and put together a string of strong games and get Martin and V-Jax more involved (or more productive) I think anything is possible. We’ll need Seattle to slip up at least once, and I think that can happen, perhaps against Buffalo in Toronto (I have a gut feeling the Bills pull off the upset), and let’s not forget the Cowboys and Redskins who also are 6-6 and both have wins over Tampa.

That Atlanta and New Orleans loss really hurts…heck, that ugly Cowboys loss could keep Tampa Bay out of the postseason. I think Seattle or Washington are the favorites to make it in, but if the Bucs get on a roll, they could take that final playoff seed. I’d love to see it happen, but look at it this way, last year around this time, as a fanbase we were in Philly fans shoes and boy did it suck. If we reload on some corners this offseason I think the Bucs will be very dangerous in 2013.

    Joe,

Goodell is floating an idea that he got from Greg Schiano to eliminate Kickoffs. Now that’s a story!

  8. FLBoyInDallas Says:

Don’t get too excited over the possibility of dominating the Eagles because it probably won’t happen. Even in the Bucs best performances this season the opposing team was still within striking distance all the way to the end of the game. The Bucs have yet to put someone away with authority. It’s almost like Schiano wants to be conservative and keep it close all the time. I wouldn’t be shocked if the Bucs struggle on Sunday.

Has hell froze over or Joe been abducted by aliens? Or did Joe finally come to his senses? I’m referring to the Shaun “only one of three QBs to lead the Bucs to NFC championship” King label missing.
BTW Thanks Joe, I don’t miss it!

  10. OAR Says:

As for running table, it’s possible. We did, afterall have a 4 game win streak once this year already.

  11. kfc7 Says:

If there is tape of Drew Brees throwing 5 picks in a game, i think Schiano mastering a great gameplan up for the Aints.

My Bucs will finally make the playoffs this year!!

  12. SteveK Says:

Shaun is spouting off again. Too bad he coudln’t make the Bucs a “complete enough team” to beat the Rams back in one of the 3 Buccaneer NFC Championship games.

We had one of the best defenses in NFL history, but we were not a “complete enough team” with “baby hands” Shaun King unable to hold onto the rock… Too bad his hands aren’t as big as his mouth.

In other news, the Eagles are not the 2011 Bucs, they are far worse. Andy Reid > Raheem Morris, but both were/are “lame duck”…

Where I disagree whole heartedly, the 2011 Bucs had a microscopic payroll, cheap owners, and far less talent. While the Eagles established the “Dream Team”, us Bucs only got a freaking Kicker in free agency, and later on we officially quit on the fans by signing Albery Haynesworth.

While both the 2011 Bucs and the 2012 Eagles are dysfunctional, the Eagles are much “worse” than we were last year without question… More $$$ on payroll, longer tenured coach, etc..

  13. JMoney Says:

I hope bucs can run the table go 4-0 but I will be so pissed even more with seahawks if they end up beating us out for the playoff wildcard I go back to that terrible call “fail Mary” won they got against green bay. Grrr

  14. Miguel El Magnifico Says:

No way the Falcons sit their starters on game #16. The rap on the ATL is that they can’t win a playoff game. This year is very important to them. They will probably get a bye in the first week of the playoffs, correct me if I’m wrong.

They certainly will not rest their starters for two weeks and risk them coming out cold and out of focus in their 1st playoff game.

The Falcons are a conference rival and they will do everything in their power to crush the Buc’s playoff hopes.

King needs to lay off the “we” talk, he’s now a journalist and not a Buccaneer or even a Buc fan. Joe can say it all he wants but not Shaun.

I hope Chip Kelly goes to Philly, I would love to see Michael Vick in a 21st Century offense.

“I don’t think we can go 4-0 through this stretch,” said King…

Always with the negative comments. I don’t “hate” anyone really…but I am truly developing a strong dislike for this guy.

  18. BucFan20 Says:

Are you kidding me?? Andy Reid I bet instills disapline and does not PARTY at night clubs with his players. I seem to remember a 9-3 Bucs team had the play offs in hand only to have a coach say he was leaving and then QUIT! What happen then? Before you throw to many stones, look how close this team came to losing games this year. Carolina ring a bell? An easy win no questions asked.

As for those yelling about Haynesworth, When he became a free agent, how many were begging Rock Star to sign him before the Skins did?? Just about everyone. He was signed to try to help the team. Just like we have signed people because of injury now. Are they the best? NO.

“Bucs had a drooling tard who invented words like “youngry.””

    Damn that was funny..

I’m not counting out the Eagles. Andy Reid is still Andy Reid. I’m a Bucs fan and always hated the damn birds but respected Andy Reid. They got what they deserved this season. They sold their soul to the devil long ago and it shows.
