Grimm, Trueblood Head To Injured Reserve List

November 27th, 2012

The Bucs placed offensive tackle Jeremy Trueblood and safety Cody Grimm on the injured reserve list this evening.

Per a news release on Buccaneers.com, Grimm suffered a hamstring injury in the Bucs win at Oakland and it hasn’t healed enough since. This marks the third time in as many years as a pro that Grimm has ended the season on the injured reserve list with a leg injury.

Trueblood has been hobbled by an ankle injury virtually all year, which caused him to lose his starting gig. He also hurt his shoulder against the Dixie Chicks. Given his new contract restructure, it would be a surprise if Trueblood was seen in a Bucs uniform again.

Trueblood’s transaction today marks three offensive linemen who began the season as starters are now on injured reserve.

Even though some players have injuries that they could continue to play with, they will go to IR to give the coaches a chance to evaluate other players over the remaining games.

  2. Ian's Gay Lisp & Ron's Drinking Problem Says:

    Nice knowing you guys….good luck

  3. CanadianBucsFan Says:

Won’t be seeing these two guys play for us ever again. Grimm had one nice season and overall was a solid 7th round draft pick. Trueblood on the other hand.. Didn’t pan out to who Gruden and Allen thought he was going to be.

  4. NJBucsFan Says:

    What are the corresponding moves?

  5. Morgan Says:

    Tampa Bay Buccaneers @TBBuccaneers
The Bucs also claimed WR/KR David Gilreath off waivers from PIT and signed S Sean Baker back to the practice squad, releasing G Chris Scott.

    Babin and Routt?

  7. NJBucsFan Says:

Just read the bears cut Okoye….it’s poste on roto

  8. NJBucsFan Says:

No thanks to Babin…lots of grumbles up here that he was becoming a locker room cancer

  9. tylund Says:

joe, what do you think of bucs grabing babin

  10. 507 Bucs fan Says:

grimm again on IR? he’s become completely irrelevant for our team.

  11. Pruritis Ani Says:

Too bad about Grimm… He did show some flashes that one year and everyone thought he really was going to be a solid player. But man, but did he get hurt a lot.

  12. Macabee Says:

Schiano’s evaluation of player upside is again shown to be correct. The Bears just waived Amobi Okoye!

  13. Joe Says:

    Terry:

    Doubtful and not happening.

    Tylund:

Babin is not a “Buccaneer Man.”

  14. Have A Nice Day Says:

Routt has been terrible. What in the world would make anyone think he would be better than the players we already have?

  15. Danny Says:

The future is so bright around here I have to wear shades.

I see your point but give Dom respect when Raheem was here too. MOST players he has jettisoned have never done a thing elsewhere. He signs them to smart deals that only matter if they pan out and resign OR he cuts them lose.

Dom gets the credit for most those moves.

  17. Dave Says:

As for Grimm… not sure why people think he was good. A 7th rounder that had couple of good moments – not games – His only chance is to play big and hit, but that means injuries at his size (see Bob Sanders)

Not to mention that no one has signed him even though a few DBs have been signed, even the Bucs signed Danny Gorrer over him. Might be a sign that he’s not a good football player, just an athlete.

Don’t think anyone will claim Babin’s contract and he’ll be on the free agent market soon enough.

  19. BigMacAttack Says:

Good moves. Taking up valuable roster spots.

  20. SteveK Says:

DE Babin from Eagles cut today… 2 time pro bowler…. Pay that man Eric Wright’s money.

    @ The Real Eric Wright:

Your talent let you skate when you had over 80 pills of ecstasy in your dorm/apartment back in college… C’mon man, but, hell, we are all young. Fast forwad from 2007, when you were drafted 53rd Overall… Browns… Lions… and now the Bucs. Thanks for your exciting pick 6 against the Giants, best pick 6 of 2012, just too bad you were juicing.

You are “bye bye” at the end of the year. It’s ok though, Bellichick will give you a try.

You are lucky that you are among the top 1% in your profession, show some damn humility and get your sh!t together.

  21. 941BucGator Says:

There is no way Routt can be worse then the Lewis.

  22. Have A Nice Day Says:

@941BucGator – I counter with “There is no way Routt can be.”

  23. Dave Says:

Completely off subject but I saw the Falcons cut Ray Edwards loose.

I begged the Bucs to sign him last year… that is why I am not a GM. Good move.

Any thoughts on the Bucs looking to sign Babin? Seems unlikely since they have Bennet and Bowers and Clayborn for next year and Babin will most likely command a 2-3 year deal…. bt would be good for the rest of this year.

  24. Ryan big bucs fan at 13 Says:

Hey Joe, do you thinthe bucs could try and go after Jason babin a veteran defensive line man who could add depth at a position I think we are thin at

  25. SteveK Says:

    @ Dave,

Yeah boy, saw that 2 weeks ago! I’m not barking up that tree. It sounds like he is ALL maintenance, and ZERO production.

He had 3.5 sacks in 25 games, GMC farted that many sacks in less games, all without biceps, or “knowing” how to tackle.

Man I think the GMC vs Suh is evening out. Suh looks like a phucking moron out there. That dude needs boot camp. Coach Scwartz needs to put down TE challenge flag, and get Suh’s ass in gear.

  26. Joe Says:

    Ryan:

    See above.

  27. SteveK Says:

Routt and Edwards are not “buccaneer men”. No thanks.

We’d be better served grabbing Sapp and Deion off the set and back in pads.

  28. CanadianBucsFan Says:

    RyanBucsFan13

Joe has already been asked that and gave a reply.

  29. BigMacAttack Says:

It’s good to get all ideas on the table. I’m sure that Shelton Quarles has files on Routt, Babin and every available player in the league. I’m also sure their value is weighed and measured as well. It’s easy to say someone is good or bad, and I’m sure they all get evaluated and guys they like get try outs. It seems that the Bucs are looking to the future more and trying to find young diamonds they can take to the jeweler. But then again they have picked up couple older vets too. Whatever the case, they’re on it, no doubt in my mind.

I like every single suggestion for players because it shows that our fans are in tune and thinking.

  30. SteveK Says:

    @ BigMacAttack,

Right on, bro. Bucs are kicking it into Houston Texan mode.

I enjoy tebconstant roster churning. We can hopefully bring the best possible 53 players.

  31. teacherman777 Says:

Babin would be a decent move if hes healthy. Our salary cap has been freed up by Wright’s suspension. So why not sign him until the end of the year? Our D-Line gets NO pressure. I think from fatigue and working so hard to stop the run. We could use some 3rd down specialists like Babin if we wanna play and stay in the playoffs.

But if we dont sign him, I will respect the decision. Maybe he is a lockerroom cancer like people here have said. Dominik knows more than we do.

@SteveK- Love the letter to Wright. So true. I think though in the end, it will be good for us. Dominik overpaid for him. So now we have a ‘get out of jail free card,’ so we should use it. Free up cap space with with Wright and Black. NICE!

I havent seen a big difference with our young corners vs. Talib and Wright. We were getting toasted with them anyway.

I say we trust Coach’s ability to TEACH and develop players.

I like where we’re going with underdggs and overachievers.

Never underestimate a ‘chip’ on the shoulder. e.g. Tom Brady

(and imagine another offseason and draft?- I smell dynasty)
