“Aggressively Treating” Jamon Meredith

November 15th, 2012

Is former Rams guard Roger Allen the next man up?

The leader of the New Schiano Order gave Bucs fans little hope today that Tampa Bay won’t resort to a third-string right guard for Sunday’s game against Carolina.

Jamon Meredith, Davin Joseph’s capable replacement, had his ankle injured late in practice yesterday, Schiano revealed today.

Schiano said team staff is “aggressively treating” Meredith and gave no hint as to who could replace him. Guard Roger Allen, who signed with Tampa Bay two weeks ago and last saw regular-season action for the 2009 Rams, is the official depth-chart backup to Meredith.

Gulp!

    Can’t say much at this point. Just a few weeks ago it was Jamon who? Won’t pass judgement until I see a man in action. Coaches have made the best moves so far. So if he is it so be it.

    possibly going to the 8th Lineman on the depth chart has me paralyzed by fear right now

    Have faith, we have a great O-line coach in Bostad and I think were great at the next man up thing when people go down.

    I think the Bucs would be better off if they gave Jeremy Trueblood a try at RG, at least he’s more familiar with the schemes. I am just not confident that Roger Allen, a career back-up player, can take advantage of this opportunity with less than 2 weeks preparation. And let’s face it, there’s a reason he’s been a career back-up to this point.

    Maybe he just needs to be coached up. One can hope.

    @Capt.Jean Lafitte

    Thats what I thought also. Trueblood has always been known for being really bad in pass protection but solid in the run. Hes a vet he’ll know all the schemes and I think he should get a chance atleast before Allen does.

    Id say please no, except that not that long ago I said the same thing about Meredith.

    Allen? Hell I don’t even want Meredith starting! He pancaked his own fricken teammate. What is his back up gonna do? Get a penalty for illegal helmet to helmet contact with freeman?
