Bucs 34, Chargers 24

November 11th, 2012

How bout those 5-4 Buccaneers!

The depth and versatility of the New Schiano Order was on full display against the Chargers.

Newcomer cornerback LeQuan Lewis scored a big interception. Undrafted rookie CB Leonard Johnson had a pick-6, redeeming his opening drive gaffe. Daniel Te’o-Nesheim registered a monster sack late. Dekoda Watson and Adam Hayward teamed for a punt block and score.

Those are not the names you penciled in as your likely heroes before this game.

For Joe, this win was all about maturity. As Greg Schiano likes to say, the porous Bucs defense “bowed their necks” and didn’t crack in the second half, allowing the Chargers only three points.

Doug Martin returned to earth (19 carries for 68 yards, and a few dumpoff passes, one of which he took for 42 yards), but Josh Freeman was precise and error-free.

This was an all-phases win for the Bucs, not spectacular, but damn good. It’s good to have real winning football back in Tampa!

WHAT A GAME!!!!!! I am loving how this Bucs team is maturing so fast! We know our pass defense is going to built up next offseason, but at the fact we are winning games with a suspect Pass D, is a damn good sign we are moving in the right direction.

Falcons just lost. I believe they are going to lose next week as well.

Dang, still wished I lived in Florida to go to the games. The stadium is about to sellout if we keep this up. Great job BUCS!!

  8. Fear The Glow Says:

It’s too bad about that first missed tackle because Leonard Johnson put together a pretty damn good game today.

  9. Orlando bucs fan Says:

Doug Martin over 100 total yards another productive day granted not 100 yards rushing but he is a stud.
Good win I wish we could get off the field on 3rd down more often but again a good win!!!

  10. Patrick Says:

    Great win!!

But I hope Myron Lewis is YUNEMPLOYED on Monday!

  11. Pete Dutcher Says:

Muscle Hamster now has 1158 total yards. Not bad!

Now you watch…analysts will start claiming we have the easiest schedule or something…because they will not want to give us credit.

  12. Teddy Says:

A nice win. Plenty of things that could be picked apart (like the porous pass defense), but they had one penalty on the day, scored in all three phases and won the turnover battle 2-0. Those are the types of things that win games in the NFL.

Great win.. puts us at 5-4 and right in the mix for the playoffs. Joe you are right that Martin returned to earth, I was still pleased with his game though, he was solid in the passing game today. Happy to see Clark and Tiquan score. Freeman once again made smart throws and played good today. I think hes at like 18 TD’s and 5 INT’s? What a huge difference from last year. I know our secondary gives up a TON of yards and a TON of touchdowns, but they still come up with huge interceptions every game in crucial times.. Love it. Lavonte David with 13 solo tackles, BEAST!

    .

IT sure did not look like the game wasn’t sold out. I suspect there were a lot of tickets sold to walkups. Crowd did an excellent job!

With all due respect, credit doesn’t mean squat, Pete. What matters is scoreboard. You can only play who is put in front of you.

  16. Pete Dutcher Says:

Teddy, I understand your point. But these guys ALWAYs dump on our team. I enjoyed the coverage on NFLN this morning when they reviewed the Bucs.

Perhaps credit was the wrong term…recognition would be a better one. Recognition for what we have done, not what we MIGHT do.

  17. Deminion Says:

    Go bucs!!!

  18. Teddy Says:

Pete, the media dumps on the team because they’re in a smaller market that can’t sell out the games. If this team were in New York or Boston, they’d be a wall-to-wall coverage story.

If they keep playing and winning entertaining games with good story lines, there will be more coverage.

  20. Hawaiian Buc Says:

I’m with Teddy. I hope they don’t even acknowledge our wins. All the more fuel to add to the fire. Us against the world!!!!

Would anyone be able to post a link to the nfl game rewind for this (Like what joe posted after the bucs-chiefs game)? I didn’t get a chance to watch the game. I would greatly appreciate it.
