Michael Smith Still Inactive

November 11th, 2012

And so it goes for Bucs forgotten running back Michael Smith. The Bucs released their inactives a short time ago and for the ninth-straight game, Smith is inactive.

Here is the list of Bucs inactives for today’s game with San Diego:

WR Arrelious Benn

RB Michael Smith

S Cody Grimm

CB Danny Gorrer

LB Jacob Cutrera

LB Najee Goode

G Roger Allen

Joe doesn’t know what bowl of cereal Smith must have spit in. The Bucs return game stinks. Even Bucs coach Greg Schiano has said as much.

Why not try Smith, who returned kicks in preseason and on opening day?

Joe just doesn’t get it.

I guess they feel like the returner has to be a wide reciever as they are dressing 4 running backs. Just a numbers thing. But I sure would like to see M. Smith back there. It will probably stay this way unless one of the backs gets injured.

Mr Lucky doesn’t understand why Arellious Benn is still on the team – what a wasted Round 2 pick.

I don’t get it either…The guy can fly and is stout..

To that point, given how poorly LGB has performed, wouldn’t you think they could “find” some minor injury (see: reason) to sit him a game to see what Smith can do as the third-down/change of pace back? Again, this would be a good game to do that. At some point, we need to give this kid some burn, even garbage time.

  5. Miguel El Magnifico Says:

Smith was clear for a TD on a kick off return when he was caught from behind. This made the TV announcer opine that Smith apparently had “tired legs.”

This must have embarrassed the head coach and he holds grudges. The Little General’s doghouse is at least as bad as Gruden’s was.

    Regis Benn is DONE

Who’s returning kicks this week if both Benn AND Smitty are inactive? Hopefully not Roscoe Parrish.

  8. RastaMon Says:

Professional play today….best of the available roster….I am anxious to see Michael Smith too…I predict it’ll be a HUGE day for La Hammer Blount today…and I have refered to him as a One Trick Pony many time @ this joint….we’ll see…..

  9. snook Says:

Who is returning kickoffs today with Smith and Benn.inactive?

Benn is a waste of a roster spot.

    Chris Owusu……returning kicks

  11. Teddy Says:

At least we won’t be subjected to the Benn’d around play today.

I actually like Arellious Benn…but Underwood has rendered him pretty useless now. Still, if Underwood were injured, I would want Benn here to step in. Isn’t he in a contract year? Maybe he won’t be resigned.

There is no doubt that there are better WRs on the team. But he could remain as depth. If this IS a contract year, he hasn’t much bargaining power, so we would likely be keeping him for little money next year, if we do keep him.

I cannot believe teams pass on Underwood.

Game day NFL is saying NFC South is toughest division in football…mentioned in this order:

    1 – Bucs
    2 – Saints
    3 – Falcons

Even though the Falcons are statistically #1, they view the Bucs as the toughest at present. Now that feels good!
