Jackson Among “Top Five Wide Receivers”

November 8th, 2012

There’s been no bad-mouthing of Vincent Jackson from his former teammates in San Diego.

And, interestingly, the cornerback slated to cover Jackson on Sunday is leading the love coming out of the West Coast, via the San Diego Union-Tribune. Longtime Chargers veteran CB Quentin Jammer refers to Jackson as a superstar.

While Rivers won’t have to cover Jackson, left cornerback Quentin Jammer will, and he knows what awaits.

“He’s one of the top five wide receivers in this game,” Jammer said. “It’s going to be a challenge, but at the same time, it’s always a challenge you look forward to because of his ability to make plays. Like I said, I’d rank him right there in the top five receivers of this game. It’s going to be matchup that I’m sure he’s looking forward to.”

Joe recommends clicking through and getting more background on Jackson’s time in San Diego.

The Chargers cornerbacks are not a strength. If the Bucs’ makeshift offensive line can hold off the Chargers’ strong D-line, then Joe suspects the Bucs will be keeping the scoreboard operator busy again.

How good is the defensive line of the chargers, do you see Doug Martin with 100+ yards rushing Sunday or maybe 150+ yds rushing?

  2. Miguel El Magnifico Says:

Vince Jackson has really paid off since the bye week. Remember, they paid him a very high salary consisting of fives. A lot of fives, $55,555,555.55. This was a statement, it’s all about #5.

They should throw the ball his way at least 10 times per game, if not more.
After Dougie’s last performance, Jackson should get a lot of one on one coverage.

It will be a shoot out on Sunday, the only way to stop Rivers is with a pass rush. We haven’t seen much of a pass rush recently.

If Rivers sits back in the pocket and throws 61 times, look out.

Norv Turner is a master of clock management, if it’s a close game, Norv will maneuver to hold the football until the end of the 2nd quarter and score. Then, he will endeavor to end the game the same way.

In other words, look for Turner and the Chargers to strike them at their weakest points, cornerback and coaching.

@Orlando. It’s gonna be tough. They are in the top 10 in stopping the run, but Dougie is superhuman so I wouldn’t count him out

  4. Gus Says:

@Miguel- our weakness is cornerback and that’s where that sentence ends.

  5. Gus Says:

I’ve said for the longest as soon as Wade Philips was fired Norv is the worse head coach in the league. His late runs are the only reason he still has a job

The only problem with Rivers throwing so much is that he is kind of like Carson Palmer. He forces passes that he shouldn’t and will throw a few picks if he has to come from behind and throw a lot.

Rivers has thrown a pick in every game except for 2 (Oakland and Cleveland) so my best bet is that I hope we score fast and often because it will force Rivers into trying to play keep up which gives the defense more opportunities for a turnover.

This game will come down to who will make the least mistakes.

Oh no! Lemme find out jammer remembers all the times he got burned as a teammate now he’s fearing getting burnt by Jackson the opponent and mike Williams should be able to work there 2nd corner if jammer needs safety help the entire game. And Dallas Clark and underwood can carve the rest of there defense up. I’m excited go bucs!!! Norv turners face will be redder than our jerseys from the lashing they’ll catch..

    @ Joe

did you happen to see Adrian Peterson get tackled at the 1 yard line last week after breaking out for a huge run? I guess He just didn’t want it bad enough, like Vincent Jackson, huh Joe. I tell you what, sometimes its hard to take you seriously after your onslaught of VJ’s will. Care to take back everything negative you said about him, because you should.

  9. Bucsalltheway Says:

    @ Andrew
You sound so ignorant and the reason joe shouldn’t take it back is because vj didn’t have an ACL tear last season and he didn’t rehab and come back week 1. Lol ap is having an remarkable season and he got caught so what lets see you tear an ACL and be even a quarter of the beast ap or vj is. People need to do there homework…

  10. Andrew Says:

    @ Bucsalltheway

how do I sound ignorant. VJ didnt have an ACl tear BUT he was injured nonetheless. and not dissing VJ or AP for getting caught from behind their great players im just pointing out the simple face that Joe, if you have been following along since the saints game, was questioning VJ’s will on a play where he got tackled from behind THAT LOOKED EXACTLY SIMILAR TO THE AP PLAY LAST WEEK. DO YOU THINK JOE IS GOING TO CALL OUT AP FOR LACK OF WILL? NO! then neither should he have called out VJ! notice how he is not responding to this line of reasoning because he knows im right. so STFU.

  11. Andrew Says:

    @ Bucsalltheway

plus ACL tears aren’t as devastating as they once where, say 10-15 years ago. wouldn’t you say that AP looks 100% healthy? with the way he is playing, I sure as hell would. on both those plays it was just a good play by the defense. its not a knock on either player for getting tackled from behind. that’s what I wanted Joe to recognize.

  12. Bucsalltheway Says:

    @ Andrew

But joe is a pen and mic for the bucs. So why would he waist his time to write about a Minnesota player during threads if bucs news. We beat Minnesota so there’s no more talking about them. U get my point. Now if ap was a buc and that happened then I see him writing about it.
