Time To Be An Informed Voter

November 6th, 2012

Oh, no. Here comes the hate mail to Joe’s inbox, as Joe dares to write something political. Joe can already smell the venom.

Today is Election Day, and Joe is not here to endorse candidates or cheerleaders. But Joe does want everyone to vote, and Joe is here to ask his fellow citizens to do a little research on the various candidates and amendments up and down the ballot before heading out to vote. In other words, try to have a clue on who/what you’re voting for.

You invest hours every week on football-related fun — a glorious freedom — at least give your community the gift of an informed vote a couple of times a year, or at least one that’s more informed than the last time you voted.

Good things usually happen when people care.

I just wish candidates and politicians would prominently display the corporations that they truly work for on their correspondence, their limos, airplanes, commercials and on their monkey suits like NASCAR drivers.

Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to present the next Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, General Motors, Lexus, UPS, Ford Motor, Nasdaq, General Dynamics, Bechtel, Boeing, Haliburton, Exxon, Amoco, General Electric, Carlyle Group, Citicorp, Federal Reserve, Honda, Bank of Amerika, Federal Express and Wells Fargo corporate sponsored president of the United States of Amerika………….Mitrack Obamney!!!

Hint, they don’t trust the people to select a real president.

Google the $43 trillion lawsuit. That’s the amount they stole to cover the mortgage scandal. Note: All the residential mortgages in the USA would not total $10 trillion and they still want to foreclose on those houses.

I can’t believe we have to vote to provide assistance to vets injured in battle or their widow wives. That should be automatic.

Replace those with a vote to impeach our governor for stealing education funds from the lottery that was onlt passed BECAUSE of the education funds it generated.

Miguel El Magnifico, maybe it’s because I am completely exhausted…but that post was impossible for me to follow.

Let me show you how to stir things up:

Anyone who votes Republican is a sellout to God and Country this election.
I encourage voters to not only re-elect Obama, but also to give control of both houses back to the democrats so the republicans can no longer appeal everything just so they can say Obama has failed…when in truth they have sabotaged him.

Hey Joe, I agree with you making posts directing Bucs fans to voting for various player awards. I saw last week that Doug has been nominated for several rookie of the week awards, but I didn’t know.

Why not help us get more recognition nationally? The awards surely help

  26. Orlandobucfan Says:

First if memory serves me correct Obama had house and senate on his side for his first two years and could barely pass obamacare. Also I do think it is ridiculous how both parties would vote a bill down only because of which party presented it. This is a major issue that’s wrong with the government everyone forgot they are a representative of the people and represent people’s interest and not there own. I don’t care which party you are if the bill helps people and makes sense then pass it and it goes both ways.

  27. CaliBucFan Says:

Orlando: When Obama was sworn in, Democrats had 58 Senate seats. Would have been 59, but the contest over Franken’s seat in Minnesota took 7 months to resolve. Arlen Specter switched to the Democratic party in April, making it 59 at that point, but in May Robert Byrd was hospitalized and didn’t do much.

So in July when Franken was sworn in, the “super majority” began with 60 Democrats, but Byrd was still in the hospital, so it was really 59 Senators. In August, Ted Kennedy died, and Scott Brown (R-Mass) replaced him. Not even going to get in to the Blue Dog Democrats, the terrible Harry Reid or the record number of cloture votes.

Just glad for the election to be upon us so this crapfest can end. Couldn’t even imagine what it would be like to live in a swing state. Poor bastards.

  28. Dave Says:

Simply amzesme tha oman Americans will vote for Obama again. No presdet in the history of this naton has ever been re-elect with the econom like it is.

It is insane to give this man another term. His policies have failed miserably and he did nothing but point the finer of blame to others forevery singe crisis he faced.

    The man is pathetic.

  31. Miguel El Magnifico Says:

In the Great Depression, unemployment was 26%.

Using the same methodologies the un-employment rate is 41% today.

    Government does not create jobs.

  32. Bobby Says:

Please Pete…never mention Obama and God in the same breath. Obama is anything but godly. Ungodly…yes. I would crawl over razor blades to vote for Romney. My pug Moose would be a better pick than Obama. There is nothing that has improved under Obama. Unemployment is up, housing is still terrible, gas has almost tripled in price, food prices are up, etc. Oh I know…that’s George Bush’s fault. (rolleyes) Please don’t reply with all the talking points. It’s just a waste of key strokes.

  33. CaliBucFan Says:

Dave, I’m sorry that facts inconvenience you. I didn’t vote for Obama or Diane Feinstein (incumbent Democratic Senator) today, but Romney is the sorriest candidate for a major party in my lifetime. No candidate has talked less about what his actual plans are, has produced fewer tax returns (see what his father had to say about this), and flip flopped (remember Kerry?) more on every single issue (abortion, health care, gun laws, auto bailout, etc etc).

During Reagan’s years, the government added an average of 176,000 public sector jobs per year. During Obama’s term, the government has shed about 201,000 public sector jobs per years. With increased public sector jobs, more people have money to spend, thus demand picks up in the private sector.

If you think Obama has not tried to compromise with Republicans on everything from the stimulus bill to the Affordable Care Act, then you watch way too much Fox & Friends.

  34. SteveK Says:

Flip flopping, billionaire, botox juicing, “47% having” man is not the answer.

Barrack could’ve done better, but I have confidence in him to rinse, lather, and repeat.

    Romney just seems 110% ingenuine.

Donald Trump needs a hair cut and a mouth piece.

    4 more years!

  35. SteveK Says:

    @ Bobby,

Don’t waste your time “crawling” for the flip flopper.

I like that we don’t agree on much, and I enjoy our arguements.

One thing I can’t argue is your choice in dogs, as you own a pug. They are awesome.

  36. Bobby Says:

Pugs ARE awesome! I have 2, Winston and Moose.

  37. Pete Dutcher Says:

Miguel El Magnifico, feel stirred up, don’t you? Told you that was how you do it. While it is true a portion of what I said wasn’t true…Ifind it ironic that you of all persons complain about a lie…considering the number of times you lie per day on this website.

And I believe I made it clear I was only trying to “stir things up.”

Btw…one such lie you uttered is “… un-employment rate is 41% today”.

That is a simply rediculous claim.

First if memory serves me correct Obama had house and senate on his side for his first two years and could barely pass obamacare. Also I do think it is ridiculous how both parties would vote a bill down only because of which party presented it.

    .

I realize we are in the zero hour and it is too late for most to change their minds…but just to gain insight…I recommend you look closer at things. For example…look at the things Obama got passed in those first 2 years…and then find out how many of those things are active today.

The Republicans appealed everything they could to prevent any positive results in the hopes that voters would blame Obama. It worked.

Are you happy with healthcare? If not, don’t blame Obama…Obama Care is not active in Florida.

Are you happy with the Florida unemployment rate? If not, don’t blame Obama…blame Rick Scott…the Republican governor who has voted against everything Obama did to hope, stolen from education and brought gambling into Florida against the wishes of the majority of Florida voters.

Republicans perpetrated the belief that Obama was Muslim (he is not) and then chose a former cult leader and an athiest as their candidate. They chose a man who says he will hold China accountable…yet sent hundreds of thousands of jobs there…which btw…means he contributed to our unemployment rate in a mighty way.

Ohio hada 10% unemployment rate when Obama took office…now it is 7%.

  39. Pete Dutcher Says:

My point is this…look at the states with high unemployment…and the majority have Republican governors. There is a pattern…just look closer instead of listening to biased, agenda-driven talk radio.

  41. Pete Dutcher Says:

Oh.and Bobby..check your facts. Housing is vastly improved in Florida. Gas prices are nowxalmost trippled. Under Obama, gas has never topped $5 per gal. In Florida. Under bush it did 3 times.

Bush, who coincidently was an oil man, had extremely high gas prices until the months leading to the 2008 election.

  42. Bobby Says:

Pete…are you on Adderal?? Gas never has been CONSISTENTLY high under Obama. National unemployment is UP. Obama himself told us that the stimulus money would keep it under 5.8%. Wrong again. Obama may be ending the wars but the Middle East is the most unstable place on the planet right now and for the first time in over 40 years an american ambassador got killed on Obama’s watch and he was clueless as to how it happened. Don’t really feel that ‘safe’ with Obama as commander in chief. To me giving Obama another 4 years is like extending Raheem’s contract for 4 years after his 2011 performance. It’s THAT bad. Anyway, I’m hoping America is smarter than they were 4 years ago when they knew nothing about this clown. Now we know plenty and none of it’s good. I’m not for socialism so I’ll just say no to Obama.

  43. Bobby Says:

I meant consistently high under Bush. Gas did spike at times but it came right down. It was never over $3 a gallon for any length of time and my bet is the avg price during his term was under $2.

  44. Ladyz Says:

Wow, almost time for polls to close. No matter if we are Dems or Reps, we are all Americans. Sure was nice to be able to vote my heart and mind without fear or reprisal. Thanks to all men and women who have unselfishly served here and abroad under all kinds of conditions with many giving it all. Yes, I’m proud to be an American. Let’s remember them again 11/11/12. Go Bucs!

  45. Hawaiian Buc Says:

I’m voting for a lot of Bucs to make the Pro Bowl.

  46. dan Says:

do NOT lie. ron paul did NOT vote for Obama. he would not vote for either of these two shticks he DID predict obama to win though. get real.

  47. dan Says:

@pete, you misunderstood your info, and are spouting fallacious fabrications of falsehood.

  48. Patrick Says:

Well it looks like you guys in Tampa want Obummer back in the White House. Thanks a lot……your city is gonna get us stuck with this fraud for four more years.

  49. DallasBuc Says:

So Biggie Mac…does this mean we will start hearing from you from grand caymen soon?

  50. Pete Dutcher Says:

Bobby…I’m going to do you a favor. I’m going to provide you with some facts.

the average price of a regular gallon of gas at U.S. pumps was $1.85 when Bush was sworn in for his second term in January 2005 and $1.84 when Obama took office in January 2009 on the promise of change, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

Adjusting for inflation, prices rose to $2.52 (Bush) and $2.53 (Obama) seven months into their terms, $2.76 and $2.71, respectively, nearly two years in and $3.27 each three years in. This month, gas is $3.85, more than a dime cheaper than at this point during Bush’s second term when adjusted for inflation.

The average, through 45 months in office? Obama: $3.04; Bush’s second term: $2.98.

  51. Pete Dutcher Says:

To address Miguel and his “41% unemployment rate”, the actual unemployment rate when Obama took office as we were going into the recession was 7.8%.

As I said…we were heading into a recession…so it would have gotten worse no matter who was president.

But as of October the rate is 7.9%…only .1% higher than when he started. It took 4 years to get it back down. Too long?

Romney said he would take 10 years to turn things around if elected. 10 years from now. While Obama’s timeline was off…it is not nearly as long as Romney’s would have been. Coincidently…Romney’s claim would have meant that even if he served 8 years…he would have been out of office for 2 years befor things turned around…past the point of being held accountable.

  52. Pete Dutcher Says:

Also…consider the cost of fighting two wars. Bush put us in compounding interest hell. Obama had to continue to run the country. You may say the bailouts he used hurt us..they didn’t. The auto bailout saved the industry. It was in loan form and it has all been paid back. Ask Ohio if it was a waste of money. Under Bush they were at 10% unemployment. Because of the auto bailout they are now at 7% unemployment. Also…because of the auto bailouts auto manufacturers were required to develop hybrid models like toyota had already done…they all have them now and in 2013 we will see the first 100 mpg auto in the usa.

The bank bailots also helped. Not only have they now been fully paid back…a profit of 14% in interest was made.
