Good afternoon. These 4 p.m. games are sweet, are they not?
Let’s see what happens with the Bucs today? Will they survive in the secondary in this post-Aqib Talib era? Can they survive on offense without Carl Nicks?
Can Josh Freeman continue to light up the sky? Can the Bucs defense put Carson Palmer on the ground, and on the ground hard?

Even though the D secondary has some real holes, at least it gives Shiano and Butch a very good picture of what we really have. If a couple of these guys are really scrubs that a poor rush defense covered up because teams didn’t pass against us much, it will be exposed as bright as day. If the technique is bad, or the talent is lacking, it will be very clear to these guys and we will work on it in the off season. The first thing to build a champion is to know what you really have and what you don’t have.

Doug has had an amazing game and amazing is an understatement but freeman also has 250 yards and two touchdowns are offense is clicking. The bucs defense needs to play all four quarters and the pass defense needs to improve vastly, I believe the pass defense is the one thing that is missing because the run defense has been very good.
Just be satisfied for now with the win!!!

We need some serious serious help in the secondary… Oakland had NO running game and we still couldn’t stop the pass. Glad we got the picks… Typical Carson Palmer in the clutch but it didn’t need to be that close. I’m just happy we got the victory.

I believe that we might have done a good job with our LB’s, but we’ll need a few more drafts to get to a very good defence

We are playing tons of single high safety bump man coverage with our linebackers very close to the line. That is great for the run, but the CBs aren’t bred for man-2-man. Schiano simply doesn’t care so much for playing the pass. He plays for turnovers and to stop the run.

First win in Oakland- EVER. Wow, what a game. I can’t remember a time when a Buccaneers offense had dynamic playmakers at QB, RB, WR (x2). The OL played their hearts out and Lorig was able to get to Oakland’s second-level consistently. Doug Martin, wow, not since Dunn’s rookie year have we seen speed, vision and shiftiness at the RB…but you’ve also added POWER.
Now, Defense, you continue to knock people out and play the run-fits better than anyone else in the league right now, but the pass-rush is atrocious and it’s exposing our mediocre DBs. That being said, Johnson and Biggers played better than expected…I think it’s the telegraphed, never get to the QB, heavy blitzing that’s hurting. McCoy needs to be able to split a double team once in a while…though it was his inside pressure on Palmer that forced the pick. Sheridan needs some help devising the pass-d.

That’s a pretty cut & dry statement. Nothing = the nonexistence of something. The defense stopped Palmer when they had to. We’re the 31st ranked defense in the League for a reason, we’re not very good. They were gassed from the end of the 3rd quarter on but they bowed up and stopped the Raiders when they needed to. There were little to no missed tackles, they shut down the run, and switched up the playcalling on the final drive. What more do you want?
