“We’re Going To Be Very, Very Conservative”

October 11th, 2012

Today the leader of the New Schiano Order said he was very encouraged by the progression of Da’Quan Bowers, but cautioned that the Bucs “we’re going to be very, very conservative” when it comes to making a decision to put Bowers back on the field.

Bowers tore his Achilles in the spring and said recently he’d be ready to go before the Bucs take on the Vikings in Week 8.

Schiano’s upbeat take was based on seeing Bowers “on the field in rehab.” The coach called it “good stuff.”

With the Bucs having only three DEs on the roster, Joe has to think the Bucs are planning to bring Bowers back sooner rather than later. But Joe really would rather see Bowers sit out the season. Joe’s no doctor, but what’s the hurry?

If we are contending, I could see bringing Bowers back. I don’t see that happening, so save the roster spot for an up and comer to get some experience before the end of the year like Markus White or Aaron Morgan.

    Joe,

Love your site but its annoying that I always have to kill my speakers before visiting it. You now have two different ad videos on autoplay. Are you guys doing this intentional?

    Keep up your good work!

@Bubba – This will happen occasionally with national ad feeds coming in. Joe is monitoring, but it’s completely random and not something Joe controls directly. Yeah, it annoys some people, but Joe has bills to pay, and Joe believes it’s an occasional annoyance worth dealing with. Also, Joe’s traffic hasn’t fallen off, so Joe’s thankful this isn’t chasing folks away.

“Anthony Gaitor is the first Tampa Bay Buccaneers player ever to be placed on the Injured Reserve-Designated for Return list. He will also be the only Buccaneer with that distinction until at least 2013.” Source:Buccaneer.com

Bowers would be a fool to rush back and run the dreaded and unnecessary 110X16 gauntlets. He should ask Brian Price for his opinion.

I believe that strategic move by the dude with the Knute Rockne haircut tells us that he plans on mailing in the final 3/4 season in order to draft Eugene Smith with the 1st overall pick in the 2013 draft.

    How butch is that?

  4. Kennedy Says:

Some of those video ads are actually funny. Actually Joe, I appreciate that all your content is on one page so I don’t have to click all over the place. That outweighs the occasional video ad for me. … I never get a video ad at work for some reason.

  5. Sneedy16 Says:

    @Kennedy,

Maybe the ads are blocked like at my job. I didn’t knew what people were talking about until I visited this site at home and heard an ad that I couldn’t find for like 20 seconds.

For the Schiano haters: Schiano also coached for the Miami Hurricanes and the Chicago Bears too. It’s not like the guy came from nowhere.

The Canes have the largest thug following in the South East. So, you thugs who hate Schiano because Raheem was fired need to realize that Schiano was a Cane too.

  7. JonBuc Says:

Bowers presents quite a quandry for the Bucs. When drafted, many pundits gave him @ a 5 year window given his ailing knee. It’s highly unlikely the Bucs are going to make a playoff push, but at the same time they need him back and need to see what they have in him. It’s a tough call…the doctors can’t even be sure he will hold up much longer.

  8. OnlyBucFanInTampa Says:

Rush is probably to show he’s not a bust. This over hyped “Rockstar” GM is either drafting guys who get injured or who cant play. If Bowers comes back strong and shows some flash it makes the other bust not seem so significant.

Only having 3 DE’s on a NFL roster??? That’s insane and screams of lack of depth, and bad player aquisition(s) by the GM and front office.

  9. bucfanjeff Says:

If he’s given clearance to play, play.

  10. SensibleBuc Says:

Sit him. If he ends up hurting himself again we’ve officially blown yet another premium draft pick under Dom. Please sit himfor the season

  11. Adam Says:

Why not kick the tires on Anthony Hargrove?

We’re Buc Fans, WE KNOW WHERE HE HAS COACHED…

I’m glad you shined a light on it though; because even after coaching for TWO NFL TEAMS, the guy is still clueless regarding team strategy with his GIVEN PERSONNEL…

Are we ignoring schianos son getting suspended for the rest of his high school football season?

  14. Joe Says:

    Mavs:

Joe does not have a high school sports site.

  15. aj Says:

I wouldn’t mind seeing Bowers put back on the roster and just sit on game days. Let him practice with the team and get some reps. Help him get ready for next year. They could always move him back to IR if there was an urgent need for the roster spot.

And yes, your work probably blocks all flash ads, if not the national advert groups altogether. It’s not worth the risk of letting them through a company network, as a lot of malware still is distributed through those networks. I personally block all of those ad networks, but allow the local ads that are served.

  16. JMoney Says:

I say if Bowers thinks he is ready then let him play. I read an article where he said he has been studying film sooo much and mentally prepared plus he said has been workin out his upper body since he got injured I’m sure he will be a beast and help out big time. Injury can happen at anytime look at Cushing, Revis, RG3, Cassel it happens. I have a feeling bucs will get it together and start winning.

“Are we ignoring schianos son getting suspended for the rest of his high school football season?”

As Coach Schiano’s biggest critic, I’ll handle this one. The coach’s son allegedly said a bad word on a football field in the heat of battle.

    So what?

How can you be raised by the second coming of Knute Rockne and not be a fiery competitor?

  18. SteveK Says:

I hope Bowers takes the season off. Having him come back at 100% next year should be the priority. If Bowers is given the proper amount of time to recover, then it will be like adding another 1st round talent.

I will be absolutely critical of the Bucs Brass if Bowers comes back and gets Hirt right away. Good things are well worth waiting for.

  19. Ladyz Says:

Miguel; I can’t believe I agree with you on something. Criticize a coach, official, player, GM or player but leave family members out of it. Where’s the class in that?

Joe has to pay the bills, unless you want Joe to go all pay-per-read.

Joe’s traffic meter shows no such drop in traffic. Sorry you can’t click “mute” with your mouse and enjoy Joe’s copious amounts of free copy.

Joe’s not a charity and it costs quite a chuck of change to keep this place afloat.
