Did Bucs Verbally Tip Off The Giants?

In this CBSSports.com video, Phil Simms claims he’s heard that Buccaneers defensive players let Giants players know they were lining up to come after the football on the most famous kneel-down in history at the close of Sunday’s Bucs-Giants game.
If Simms is accurate, a move like that would a major breach of trust in the New Schiano Order.
Simms also said he had no problem with Schiano’s decision on the kneel-down. Rich Gannon, Steve Beuerlein and Adam Schein have contrasting views.

I don’t see it as a major breach of trust at all. You could tell the way they linedup they were goingn after the ball. It just goes to further prove that all the crying over the play is ridiculous. They were playing on the last play, it was obvious to anyone with eyes, they told the giants just in case they were blind, and they Vmen were still crying. I don’t see how anyone with a brain could have a problem with the play now. It’s just more of the same from the Drama Queens of New York sports franchises.

If true, there needs to be ZERO b!tching from the Giants players about what we did…AND Coughlin DEFINITELY needs to apologize now.
For the players that…ahem…notified the opposing team, keep your mouth shut. (Though I do understand it may have been from guilt of going against the “unwritten rule” in the NFL about the victory formation. From here on out though, people now know – play 60 minutes)

Next big topic. As of yesterday, Jerry Jones wants the Kneel down done away with or no time comes off the clock. A play must be run.

In arena league the play has to actually gain yardage or the clock stops.

Good for the Bucs, and that is a class move to advise the opposing quitters (Giants) that the last play counts.
I love what Schiano did, make them earn it, you know for all 60:00.

If I get in a 4-point stance and put my weight ove rmy shoulders…I’m coming and it aint no secret. So……why would it matter if I said, “hey “O”. I’m coming.” Obviosly, this didnt happen or the Giants didnt care because they didnt seem ready for it.

Yeah, I don’t see a breach of trust. It wasn’t a trick play. They weren’t milling about and pounced on the snap. I was confused when they got into the set. But I was elated to see someone finally try to get the ball on the kneel down play. I’d wondered for years when a team only needed a possession to win why they didn’t try to force the other team to fumble or commit a personal foul.

I really hope another team does it this week, it has been great to talk about all week. It would be a nice show of support from any particular coach, and a good way to add some bad blood to a division rival.

I think Simms is just talking out his s$$. Just seeing the way we were lined up, you could tell the Bucs were coming and any idiot..well, I guess except a handful, could see we were and did!
BTW love that play and the new attitude of this Bucs team!!

So basically Schiano gave the order to the players and the players didn’t agree so they gave the other players a head up… or it’s all some BS talk by Phil Simms.

I can’t stand the dumb a&$ analysts saying dumb a$& things about this play did anyone notice freeman taking steps back when kneeling in the Carolina game. No because no one watched the bucs then. I don’t give a sh$& what was or is done in the nfl if it’s legal and we can possibly benefit we need to do it. There was enough quitting last year schiano is the coach we need to put the fight back in the team. Shut up and deal with it we are coming after you every play and that’s who we are now. Friendly kneel down….who are you being nice to ending the game on your own terms. Again shutup and play all 60 min especially if it’s a one possession game. I think most bucs fans agree except Miguel the constant annoyance and pessimist of this site. I would trade Thomas any day for Miguel, but not my choice.

Agree with Jbrooks8604. This isn’t a breach of trust at all. From what I have heard and read, when an offense is going to kneel on the ball, they typically tell the defense what they are going to do. From that point the defense either says ok, or says “we’re coming anyway”. If that is true, then the Bucs did the right thing, and didn’t breach any trust.

I agree OrlandoBucFan, I would trade 2 Thomas 2.2’s for what we have now!
I understand why Joe did what he did, and Thomas 2.2 was warned, before Joe pulled the plug on him.
But I miss him too. We need some dissent around here, as long as it is in good taste. It keeps it interesting, keeps it real.
I don’t know what to think of what Phil Simms said. If it is true, Coughlin owes Schiano an apology. Coughlin took his life in his hands IMHO, when he got in Schiano’s face.
The little Irishman is no match for our bigger and younger Italian Coach.

I know it’s a day late and a dollar short on this post, but Brad Culpepper was on the radio this am and said if he was on team he would’ve told the offensive line they were coming just out of respect. BTW he didnt like the play. With that said, maybe there is some truth to what Simms said?
Anyways, I done beating this old horse!
