Three Knockouts Weren’t Enough

September 16th, 2012

Did the Bucs ever really play physical football under Raheem Morris?

Despite Raheem’s talk of being violent and yungry, it never really happened on either side of the ball, except late in the 2010 season when the offensive line was blocking for LeGarrette Blount.

But in the area of physicality, it truly is a New Schiano Order. And that was on display today in full force.

The Bucs knocked three Giants out of the game — in the first half. Mason Foster drilled WR Domenik Hixon in a play that drew a personal foul, but that was just a wussy call of the modern NFL. Foster was just playing hard football and Joe can assure reader that Greg Schiano will applaud that play. Then Ahmad Bradshaw aborbed a neck-crushing hit, and Eric Wright clobbered Henry Hynoski low (photo above) and left him in agony on the turf.

Joe’s not counting it since it was just part of typical play, but the physical play also claimed Giants starting right tackle David Diehl in the first half.

Don’t accuse the New Schiano Order of playing soft football. You’d be wrong. Eventually, this will deliver the Bucs wins over the course of the season. Not every team has the backbone, or the quarterback, of the Super Bowl champs.

Almost were.. Eli is such a beast… that guy is amazing. How do you slow him down when he is in the groove?

The Bucs just needed to get a few more 3rd down stops in the 2nd half.

It also would have helped if Freeman could have converted on 3rd down in the 3rd qtr. That didn’t help.

I wish Schiano would have punched Tom Coughlin at games in… you could tell Schiano was holding back.

Our team has a nastiness about them. it’s soooooo refreshing. loss or not I’m on board and see a 10 win team here.

and on a side note: we need our officials back!

It’s hard to slow him down when receivers look like they are standing in the field of dreams for a game of 500! Our #1 corner was outmatched, and as soon as they realized it they went airborn. The D-line seemed to be slowed down quite a bit, but on both sides I think we missed the officials. I saw Michael get his shirt practically pulled over his head on one of those homerun balls.

@blackmagic I totally agree nastiness is refreshing, and your side note is spot on. I want to see Hochuli and his boys back. They are bad, but this is ridiculous.

Mason Foster is laying the wood on people. His hits are bone crushing. Nearly every one of them. Schiano should pay his fine, because I’m sure he has no problem with that hit. I was pretty impressed with him last year, but he is an absolute stud so far this year.

Stop comparing every little thing to Raheem’s days as Hc…gets annoying
And yeah i recall the 1st Atlanta game last year as being pretty physical as well as the 2010 season finally against New Orleans…how about the 2 Carolina games in 2010?

Don’t forget about Hakeem Nicks. I am sure he isn’t going to play for the next couple of weeks.

IF it weren’t for the poor officiating and missed calls the Bucs would have been the victor. Coughlin was mad the Bucs beat the crap out of his players, and the Bucs desrved the W.

    Bane IS Raheem, lol.

If Schiano would have done that, the players on this team would be lost. He’s trying to sell them on belief, respect and accountability. Him hitting an old man would have caused too many problems.

I thought he handled it well myself.

I don’t think the rest of the NFL is ready for this Bucs incarnation.

pete, i agree. violence is never the answer. unless, of course, the question is, “what is never the answer?”!
