It’s True, 10 Yards Rushing

September 9th, 2012

If any Bucs fans would have run into Joe at a local watering hole and bragged the Bucs would hold any NFL team to 10 yards rushing, Joe would have responded by asking them to share their beers with him.

If a Bucs fan would have bragged the Bucs defense would hold Cam Newton, DeAngelo Williams and the Carolina Panthers to 10 yards rushing for the game, Joe is sure a cop would have Baker Act’ed said fan.

But it’s true! The Bucs held the Panthers to right at double digits, and Newton himself had but four yards rushing. Even more startling was that Ronde Barber confessed after the game that rookie Lavonte David was making the play calls.

This is as incredible a win as Joe can remember in a while. It was old school Bucs. The offense sputtered and needed the defense to hold on, and the Bucs defense did just that.

An impressive win indeed.

    Nice start let’s build on it. So nice to see Cam Newton bottled up and smacked around…even a little testy…sure wiped the grin off his face! Though it was down field it was nice to see Barron lay the wood on Smith. Great game all around…V-Jax get some stickem!! Still amde the catch when it counted the most. Go BUCS!!

    “Newton himself had but four yards passing”

    That sure would have been awesome.

    Completely unbelievable. I feel like we’ve finally healed from that Monday Night (?) shalacking we took at the hands of DWill & J Stew that ended up getting Gruden fired. What a prideful performance by our supposed weakness, the defense. Well done Sheridan & Schiano.

    @Clayburn

    Why the hate? Eric and I are just not members of your Amen Chorus but we are Buc fans.

    Winning is the best deodorant but they sure as heck didn’t win a beauty pageant today.

    I did see some beautiful things, like Aqib Talib who would gotten my vote for captain.

  8. Drew Says:

    Miguel… we looked for you in the game blog and rumor had it you were seen on Gandy wearing a big sombrero with a bottle of tequila in your hand.

  9. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @Miguel,

    It’s a good thing winning a beauty pageant has absolutely nothing to do with football. Carolina looked pretty last year, in route to a 6-10 season.

    I will give you credit for showing up after we won. Too bad Eric isn’t big enough of a man to do the same. Guess he can’t think of anything negative to say.

    My wife had some honey-dos for me so I was behind the live action on my DVR and couldn’t participate. I did read it, so I saw the jokes, but what is funny about an Isuzu pick up truck?

    I’m glad that you guys thought about me. I do have a couple critiques but I won’t get into them today.

    Love the defense, love Mark Barron, love the kicker, love Ronde, love LaVonte, loved the pass rush, even loved Geraldini and most of all loved that the cursed losing streak was broken.

  11. aqib talib pro bowl 2013 Says:

    our defense deserves a lot of credit. We showed that we can be a dominant defense again. Getting stop after stop as we needed them. Quincy Black who gets hated on by almost every Bucs fan and Joe, looked like a great linebacker today. Roy Miller played pretty well, Gerald McCoy showed people how good he is, disrupting play after play. Its going to be a great year if our defense stays healthy, I look forward to seeing Gaitor healthy our pass defense will be a lot better. And why not put Aqib on Steve Smith, Wright got beat a few times and Talib has proven he can play Smith very well. Great win though Bucs

    Will you all start taking my 10-6 prediction now!??

  13. BRoy3434 Says:

    nate: i’ve been saying 10-6 as soon as we drafted Lavonte…with the big 3 signs and 3 more big draft picks, and a real head coach i thought 10-6 all the way, not getting ahead of ourselves but being very optimistic
