Whats the plan with Cobra Kai?

  2. Bobby Says:

Yeah Thomas…they obviously got rid of the the top notch players in this first cut…..

  3. Morgan Says:

Nice, looks like you broke the news before any other site other than the Bucs own website. Trumped TBO, ESPN, NFL.com, 620WDAE, and Pewter Report.

  4. The Dutcher Journal (Pete Dutcher) Says:

I figured Ed Gant would be the odd man out.

Cody Grimm still here so far. Hope he sticks!

  5. SilenceTheCritics Says:

Always sad to see guys dreams cut short. Best of luck to them all.

  6. Teddy Says:

With all of the kickers going down, they might be able to squeeze a seventh-rounder for Cobra Kai.

  7. aj Says:

I’m shocked Preston Parker is not on here, lol.

It looks like they are giving Mike Ingersoll time to find another team.

  8. Thomas2.2 Says:

    Bobby:
We don’t have any vet top notch players who get extended that respect.BTW: do you really think that Kai Forbath and Landon Cox have any chance to make this team.We are loaded with mediocre receivers because Gant and Ellingson can play maybe on someone’s 53 – while players like Cox and Forbath etc are purely practice squad players.

  9. Mike J Says:

Next round of cuts will be the interesting ones, obviously. Watch who gets playing time Wednesday.

  10. Bobby Says:

@Thomas…shouldn’t you have just said you were wrong instead of trying to defend an obviously stupid comment about how teams cut their ‘respected’ players first so they can get picked up on another teams roster?

  11. John Says:

Pewter Report??? They are still around??

Talk about crap. I thoroughly enjoyed their “draft analysis” where they mentioned a handful of the biggest names, threw all the rest on a giant list, and then patted themselves on the back for nailing a selection if one of the guys was drafted.

  12. James Says:

Anyone else find it interesting that they put Bowers on the PUP list and not IR?

Maybe the achillies isn’t as bad as some reports have made it out to be.

Crossing my fingers Bowers makes it back in October for a playoff push!

  13. Stranger Says:

Actually, Kai is a starter. He just wont be our starter.

  14. the_buc_realist Says:

    @ bobby
isn’t that what happen to John Lynch. they cut him early so he could catch on with another team? instead of waiting till just before the season starts?

  15. teacherman777 Says:

    @silencethecritics

You can see it. You are an evolved human.

It is sad to see these guys suffer through these cuts.

    I want an NFL D-League!!

    Who’s with me!!??

    @joe

  16. Matt D Says:

I hope someone cuts a good right guard or right tackle and the Bucs can find a diamond in the rough!

Does anyone think Dotson can take over the guard spot?

  17. LJS IV Says:

Would have liked to see them give Ellingson a chance, but he was not given one. I saw him in practice and he was looking good, but was stuck in the back of the WR line. Anyway, let’s see who is on the %# man roster after Friday.

  18. LJS IV Says:

    oooopps 53 man roster ….

  19. Buc_The_World Says:

    @ Matt D

Nope. Coach Schiano already said Dotson can’t play guard.

  20. BigMacAttack Says:

Like they said, about 1200 players looking for work in a few days, some already. It is surely enough to start another league. Brooks may pick up a few for the storm. Ed Gant would do well with Brook’s team. I think the Bucs will probably nab a few players from other teams, Guard possibly, maybe DT or TE too.

  21. BigMacAttack Says:

Dominick will probably be wearing a bib all week from drooling over cut players on other teams, paying practice squad players big money like before, the usual, you know.

  22. Joe Says:

    Morgan:

    Joe aims to please. Thanks.

    John:

Hey, Joe nailed the Lavonte David pick almost a year ago. Joe’s still crowing about it!

  23. Bobby Says:

@the-buc-realist….I don’t know but if we have to go back that far and use an isolated incident then I would say it’s certainly NOT the norm. The first cut is not going to be the strong players, veteran or otherwise.

  24. Bobby Says:

Wasn’t Lynch released at the end of the season, not the beginning. Seems like they let him go after the season was over to free up salary cap space. Can’t remember.

  25. 76buc76 Says:

They should take a look at that Seahawks 3rd 4th or 5th TE.Can’t remember his name just remember his pant’s were falling off. Also Philly D-line men

  26. StopOrMyMommaWillShoot Says:

Remaining roster cuts to get down to 53 are due Friday so we don’t have to wait long to find out. Waiver wire expires Saturday at noon so from Friday until then we’ll probably see Dominik getting his “rock star” on. Hope we get a couple nice pickups.

  27. Derek Says:

who really cares about the first wave of cuts besides the guys getting cut maybe. the real crime here is preston parker is STILL listed at the #1 KR/PR. the coaches fascination with him returning is as bad a call as the benn’d around was

  28. FLBoyInDallas Says:

Looks like Pianalto and Noble are fighting it out for that last TE spot. I wonder who gets it. Noble has been making a late surge. Or do they make an upgrade after final cut-downs?

Also, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Gibson and possibly even Okoye replaced if a better DT becomes available. Should be a very interesting weekend for Bucs fans.

  29. Oahubuc Says:

    _Opens door
    _Myron Lewis still on roster
    _Shuts door

  30. patrickbucs Says:

Teams out of respect may release a seasoned veteran early, not usually guys that have little or no long term connection with that said team. There will be a number of players that most NFL fans can identify with once teams cut down to 53.

I can’t believe there are still 2 awful cb’s on this team still, hope they won’t be soon. I am sure pretty much everyone know the 2 I’m referring 2.

  31. Tim Says:

Is Faine still available to grab for center – then move Zuttah to Guard for a year?

  32. Collino Says:

@76buc76 Cameron Morrah??? If that is who your thinking of then i completely agree. Living in washington and only hearing about the seachickens it seems like a lot of their fans were really disappointed he was cut. Shame to see Thomas go, hope they bring him back on the practice squad.

  33. Joe Says:

Turn the page on Faine, Tim. The Bucs have, as did the entire NFL (he’s still unemployed).

  34. Garv Says:

No surprises and that in itself is not surprising. It is sad to see dreams end for some players as some here have typed.

I guess I’m a little surprised that Bowers might actually play this year after all.
We’ll see. Friday night the big cuts come and it will be interesting to see f we pick up anyone.

    Buccaneers in 2012?

    Can’t WAIT!!!

  35. Jwayne Says:

damn…was really hoping to see myron lewis on this list!lol

  36. Patrick Says:

Cody Grimm is really our only proven safety on the roster……..don’t think it would smart at all to cut him.

Why all the hate for Preston Parker?? Sure, he sucks at returning kicks but the guy is a decent #3 receiver. Keep Parker for receiving and move Stroughter to returns where he’s very good.

  37. Fritz50 Says:

” about how teams cut their ‘respected’ players first so they can get picked up on another teams roster?”

In Thomas’s defense, I do have to point out that I’ve heard statements of this sort from teams , in the past, about the occasional player, but not all that often, & I don’t recall hearing it all that recently. Course that’s prolly cause I figger the team in question is lying thru their teeth, trying to put a good spin , on a bad situation, publicity wise.

  38. 941-Bucs Says:

He was good last year. At the same time Parker has looked like garbage this year. Dropping the football when it does actually touch his hands. I don’t know if it is Freeman throwing off target or Preston running the wrong route but those 2 are not on the same page this year.

Stroughter is still a good candidate to take over slot (remember his rookie and 2010 seasons). Jordan Shipley will be allowed a few more weeks to make an impression. Benn will be back in a week or so (seems the team is still high on him). Worst case scenario, on 3 receiver sets. Tiquan Underwood can be split wide opposite if V-Jacks and move Williams into the slot (where is he is VERY strong).

Either way Parker wont be a big dent on the team if he was to be cut. Stroughter and Smith can handle the return duties.

  39. Brain Says:

Parker a decent #3 WR? He can find open spots in the zone and has decent hands but he creates no separation and doesn’t make plays after the catch. We can do much better in the slot (a healthy Jordan Shipley, for one).

No surprise that Gant was cut. For some reason Bucs fans had a huge hard-on for him all offseason and continued to think he had a shot at the 53-man when he barely saw the field.

  40. Miguel Grande Says:

Uh-Oh! The dreaded and unnecessary 110×16 sprints now are looming large. Say a potential starting 300 LBS right guard is cut by his team, he will be advised by his agent of the Buc’s torture test in the August Florida heat.

Let’s say he has 4 options for prospective teams, who does he cross off the list? Does his agent tell the Rockstar, he’ll come to Tampa if you waive the sprints? What will Donald Penn say?

If he chooses TB and runs the sprints, does he have to ride the pine for six weeks while his legs recover from the trauma? If he fails the sprints or half asses it, do you cut him?

What if Jeff Faine doesn’t want to get off that comfy couch and play for the minimum with all of his buddies because of that torture test?

Oh what a tangled web we weave, when you have to prove how butch the Little General is?

  41. Big Marlon B Says:

What a surprise, Miguel found a way to ramble about the training camp conditioning test again!! Always producing thought provoking, insightful posts. Give it a rest u loser, the season hasn’t even started yet and your anti-Schiano agenda has already worn dangerously thin.

  42. Oregano Says:

Why can’t they eliminate the conditioning tests or run them in the morning when its cool. They ran a road race this week in Oregon, from Mt Hood to the Pacific, it was 35 degrees at the start.
